Knicks Lose ‘Valuable’ Title Experience

Oh, they’re totally screwed now. Darko Milicic is the only remaining Knick with a ring: “The Knicks waived four players, including Gabe Pruitt and Sun Yue, who won rings with the Celtics and Lakers respectively. Warren Carter and Ron Howard were also released. That leaves the Knicks roster with 16 players, including Cuttino Mobley and three free agents, Joe Crawford, Chris Hunter and Marcus Landry.”

    wait a minute…..cuttino mobley?!!?

  • Chazz Michael Michaels Posted: Oct.8 at 10:24 am
Sun Yue is valuable? I don’t remember him even suiting up in a laker uniform during the finals, or even the playoffs last year. I remember him in a suit sitting on the bench watching the game.

    WOW. Just wow.
D’Antoni: We need point guards, hey look there’s Sun Yue and Gabe Pruitt–two point guards!
Walsh: Let’s sign them to non-guaranteed contracts. While we’re at it, make sure Cuttino Mobley, who isn’t going to play, sticks with our roster. Then we’ll cut them, leaving only Chris Duhon running the point!
D’Antoni: At least we got Danilo Galinari, best shooter of all time. Who’s this Eric Gordon you were telling me about?

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.8 at 10:29 am
Those two guards could have really helped the Knicks, but as we can all see, the Knicks don’t care AT ALL about much of anything this season. Signing those guys for 1-year contracts wouldn’t have hurt anything. As a long-time fan, the Knicks organization is currently a joke. Call me when its 2010.
That being said, I don’t know why Cuttino Mobley is still on the roster, but I do hope he has gotten well and back to full health. I heard he was retiring?

Haha Teddy pretty much summed up all I wanted to say. Especially the first part about point guards. Man, someone let Sun Yue play!!!

  • ClydeSays Posted: Oct.8 at 11:15 am
Well, they weren’t going to get the Knicks to the playoffs, but Pruitt is a ’serviceable’ point who can pass and shoot. I guess the Knicks don’t need that this season.

    Ron Howard… who knew?

  • Jacqueline Mitchell Posted: Oct.8 at 11:42 am
Well, I just got my good laugh for the day. Ha Ha.

  • Exile Posted: Oct.8 at 11:43 am
Want the Knicks to be relevant. No dice.

  • Richie Posted: Oct.8 at 11:57 am
I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. If they cut those guys, there has to be a reason, like maybe they suck. I’m all for giving Toney Douglas run at the point.

The Knicks. The season hasn’t even started yet, and I have that sick feeling already. I’m holding on to Lee’s double doubles for dear life.

  • TADOne Posted: Oct.8 at 1:47 pm
It’s nice to see Cuttino is still following Steve Francis around.

  • albie1kenobi Posted: Oct.8 at 1:56 pm
i’m really interested in what the knicks’ sales pitch is to Lebron and Wade: “come to the big apple! we have the yankees, world class cuisines, the MTV studio in Times Square, Statue of Liberty, very basketball-savvy fan base, and the most famous arena in the world!”
Bron/Wade: “what about the team itself? like the people that are on the court?”
Knicks: “did we mention that we’ll give you part ownership of Cablevision?”

  • Jukai Posted: Oct.8 at 2:06 pm
Hey guys, look, the Knicks NEED a point guard… do you think they just cut Pruit and Yue because they like seeing disappointment on point guards’ faces? (well… maybe)
Both of these guys haven’t been able to make a team. They just aren’t NBA caliber players.

  • JD Posted: Oct.8 at 2:48 pm
Nobody told me Cuttino Mobley hd started playing again

  • la huey Posted: Oct.8 at 5:53 pm
co-sign jukai. i’m a pg for my rec league squad and we won our tournament this summer. should the knicks sign me?

  • Moose Posted: Oct.8 at 6:37 pm
    They WAIVED GABE PRUITT????

  • Jukai Posted: Oct.8 at 11:09 pm
La Huey: You’re probably better than Sun Yue…

  • albie1kenobi Posted: Oct.9 at 12:45 am
@Jukai: you forgot that Sun Yue is the Chinese Magic Johnson.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.9 at 1:55 am
@ Jukai: Actually not. Sun Yue could actually help the Knicks out a lot. And both players are NBA caliber, so I have no clue why you are trying to defend this decision.

They should have gotten AI for 3.5 mill and they would still have enough money for LeBron in 2010. AI could have been Bron’s excuse to come to NY because you know he wants to do it. I can see it right now AI being put in this system proving doubters wrong dropping 25ppg and 6.5 apg a night electrifying the New York crowd and almost or just grabbing the 8th seed. Than LeBron July 1st 2010: “You know I think New York is the perfect situation for me to win a title because I want to go down as one of the greatest and I get one of the greatest players to help me in Allen Iverson and I think we can make a great duo and I know we can win it all”. Translation: Cleveland was great but boring I loved New York and AI was just my excuse to come here but he can help me get a ring and now im the most global athlete in the world because I play in the most global city in the world. AI KINDLY accepts a secondary role to a guy who he knows is clearly better than him at this point and AI walks away with a CHIP and the LeBron era in New York completely takes the league over. But no the Knicks management wanted Ramon Sessions(did not get him either.)
