Olympiakos’ Legal Headache in Cleveland

And here you were thinking that nothing was at stake during exhibition games: “Exhibition games are supposed to be for practice not for international incidents, but the latter is brewing in Cleveland. Next Monday, the Cavs are scheduled to welcome Olympiakos, a Greek team from the Euroleague visiting the United States on a goodwill tour. But Olympiakos has more business than just basketball in Ohio and as wild as it may seem, there’s a chance they could lose everything they bring with them from uniforms to computers to travelers’ checks. If it sounds bizarre, it is.”

    Impound the plane! Seriously, it’s messed up how often overseas teams don’t honor contracts.

    moreso than, say, Cubes vs Nellie?
    (I can find more NBA examples if you like: that one’s just off the top of my head) can you cite some examples, Ken, of how often this occurs? or are you just talking out of your xenophobic a**? …thought so…

    chris morris chris morris… wasn’t he on the jazz bench when jordan whooped them in the finals? it’s nice that a minor role player has caused this international fiasco. and how does a contract in Greece have validity in the states? we need a lawyer here to explain it. where’s eboy when you need him?

    To those of you too young here, Chris Morris once was one of the most talented small forwards in the NBA but he wasn’t really interested in the game…think of him as Tim Thomas 15 years ago.
    @Dutch Rich…: if only they could do this….if only…

    Considering a socialist candidate won in Greece, I’m going over to Panagiotis’ house and taking half your stuff.

    Um, is anyone surprised that they sued them in the US.? If they tried that in spain or wherever, they would get the lawsuit thrown out. Dumb intern. team tho, shouldve stayed overseas.
