    NBA Teams Making Final Cuts

    by Ryne Nelson

Although it might be nice, teams can’t go into the season with 20 players on the roster. That’s why we’re seeing plenty of cutting and trimming going on this week. Rather than posting every press release, we compiled everything we’ve heard since Monday into the table below. Some teams have already made the cuts to walk into the regular season. Others, clearly, will be making decisions in the near future.

Whether they’re second round rooks, undrafted ‘longshots’ or long-time veterans, NBA dreams are being quickly being thrown out the window… and across the pond. Teams need to trim their roster to 15 players by the start of the season next week, but are likely to carry even fewer players. Remember, only 12 players can suit up for a game.

If we missed anyone (keep in mind we’re only talking about cuts made on or after October 19), feel free to comment and we’ll add to the list.

    • lawlow Posted: Oct.21 at 3:57 pm
damn..i guess james white will never make it to the NBA dunk contest..

    • Damir Posted: Oct.21 at 3:57 pm
I actually thought Suton had a chance of making the team..still, it was a long shot..

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.21 at 4:00 pm
The Warriors made a huge mistake today. I’ll say it again… Shaun Pruitt > Pau Gasol.

    • niQ Posted: Oct.21 at 4:03 pm
Christmas got cut? That sucks, no more Christmas + Holiday duo =(. And I thought Patrick Mills got signed?

    • Z Posted: Oct.21 at 4:03 pm
yeah, flight white keeps on getting cut of every damn team. i guess that puts to rest the idea that you can get to the L with athleticism only. although to be fair, his athletic abilities do not really transfer to the actual games for having watched him a little at cincy. funny that he does have a ring though. / didnt the blazers sign patty mills like 2 hours before cutting him?

    • L Posted: Oct.21 at 4:14 pm
Can’t believe juan dixon is already out of the league..L

    • davidR Posted: Oct.21 at 4:17 pm
poor rod benson. and ryne, who’s pruitt? your statement has me kinda curious (disregard if its a joke)

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.21 at 4:25 pm
David, Pruitt was the No. 2 player in Illinois (behind Shaun Livingston). He later played at my alma mater (so take my comment with a grain, or handful, of salt).

    • doom Posted: Oct.21 at 4:30 pm
the blazers had to sign patty mills to cut him. It was a weird situation.

    • Jas Posted: Oct.21 at 4:46 pm
They offered him a contract that they didn’t think he’d sign, and when he did they had to cut him.

    • CBanta Posted: Oct.21 at 4:51 pm
What’s good with Patty Mills? Wasn’t he supposed to be on a roster by now after what he was doing to the NBA’s best point guards in the Olympics?

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.21 at 5:06 pm
A broken hand at exactly the wrong time doomed Patty Mills. That, and the Blazers roster is stacked.

    • Mendel Posted: Oct.21 at 5:44 pm
      Dixion out of the leauge?

    • Allenp Posted: Oct.21 at 6:01 pm
Rod Benson can’t catch a break. And Melvin Ely fell off hard.
If James White can’t stick with Denver, he probably can’t stick anywhere.

    • Bryan Posted: Oct.21 at 6:24 pm
James white needs to go the the suns or the knicks. Patty mills desereves a spot in the L also. Rod Benson too.

    • drewz Posted: Oct.21 at 6:45 pm
damn i cant believe patty mills got cut..and somebody needs to give james white a real shot

    • James the balla Posted: Oct.21 at 6:50 pm
I was just going to say. James White cannot catch a break!!!

    • Chris C Posted: Oct.21 at 7:17 pm
Patty Mills did not get cut he made the team…Udoke and collins got cut its all over the news here in portland

    • throwsticks Posted: Oct.21 at 8:12 pm
I can’t believe Patty Mills & Romel Beck got cut. Somebody give these guys a chance!

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.21 at 9:46 pm
Rockets should have kept Romel Beck! That guy can ball. Come on now.
And the Knicks should have kept Sun Yue and Gabe Pruitt. Somebody let Sun Yue freaking play!

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.21 at 9:48 pm
And when can us fans see a Flight White dunk contest in the NBA?! I’m starting to think the NBA is scared he’ll take the dunk contest buzz away from bankable stars like Nate and Dwight. He’d tear the dunk contest a new hole, literally with a windmill free-throw line jam.

    • Lakeshowfolife Posted: Oct.21 at 10:08 pm
i can’t believe someone actually said shaun pruit > than Pau Gasol. Literally the funniest moment of my day thank you.

    • Holy Baller Posted: Oct.21 at 11:16 pm
I’m really surprised Dionte Christmas couldn’t find a home in the NBA. Every game I watched of that guy amazed me. He had some skills.

    • Jukai Posted: Oct.21 at 11:44 pm
Damn guys, James White ISN’T that good. I mean, this is 100% official proof. Teddy’s statement is idiotic at best.

    • gomez Posted: Oct.22 at 12:12 am
i didn’t think patty mills would have made it in Portland. I mean he would’ve been 4th string? behind jerryd bayless, andre miller and steve blake. I hope some other team picks him up. His got heaps of potential!

    • Z Posted: Oct.22 at 12:14 am
james white got like 10 shots. and every single team passed on him. that should tell us something. he ain’t good. matter of fact, he kinda sucks. he even sucked in turkey. has someone ever seen james white dunk in traffic or over someone? his athleticism is for breakaways and dunk contests. / rod benson on the other hand did lead the d-league in rebounds. i think teams just dont want to bother with a 12th man that’ll blog everything and be a distraction. they’re rather have a quiet dude like o’bryant or something. seriously, i’m sure he’d stick on a team if he wasn’t blogging. the pacers specifically asked him to shut down his twitter and websites for training camp.

    • Anton Posted: Oct.22 at 12:24 am
Z: ” i guess that puts to rest the idea that you can get to the L with athleticism only.”
Z, I’d like you to meet Dwight Howard.

    • LilKDub Posted: Oct.22 at 12:35 am
No, Dwight had a post game, and could do many things, even out of high school. Plus, he’s a tall dude. The Magic needed a tall dude.

    • Dave Posted: Oct.22 at 2:31 am
Wait, are you saying Patty Mills got signed and then cut… meaning he got a fistful of cash for nothing? Is that what happened?
I hope he goes to Europe. I’d hate to see someone of that talent wasting away in the NBL. Which is more bogus than ever.

    • wmaxey Posted: Oct.22 at 2:56 am
need to switch that up ryne….portland named patty mills their 15th man and plan on cutting udoka and collins on thursday:
