Spurs Thrilled to Have Refs Back

Tim Duncan and company can’t wait to see Joey Crawford’s non-smiling face again: “Spurs players have been diplomatic about the job the NBA’s replacement referees have done this pre-season, but they were unanimous in their delight at news reports about a tentative agreement that will bring the members of the National Basketball Referees Association back to the court by the opening game of the season … ‘If the officials have reached an agreement, I say, ‘Good for them.’ Spurs captain Tim Duncan said. ‘I’ll be very happy to have them back, and I mean that from my heart.’ Roger Mason Jr., who called Friday’s 62-foul, 78-free throw game against the Cavaliers an evening of frustration, was most emphatic about the pending agreement. ‘If that’s true, I’m ecstatic,’ he said. ‘That’s the best news I’ve heard today.”‘

Should make the games more watchable too. I keep having flashbacks to the Heat-Mavs finals a couple years back…oy.

I’m sure the Spurs are indeed happy to have the refs back. I didn’t think the replacement refs could be any worse but they proved me wrong. It still doesn’t mean the real refs are great though.

The NBA players are loving the Old refs coming back now, but we all know as soon as a bad call happens, all that goes out the window. (check Ken’s post about the Mavs/Heat final, best example)

Bullsh!t. How can anyone trust NBA refs after they literally stole the championship from Sacremento? I’ve never been a Kings fan, but that series belonged to them. Watch the old tapes, that entire series was rigged from the start. Referees are ruining the game of basketball, but the sad part is they are integral to the overall game.

@LA Huey. That’s gold son, gold. Like ovaltenes should be called round-tines.

the replacement refs sucked big time!! did anyone see that debacle in philly? they had to discuss wether or not to call 8 seconds in the backcourt and then called a phantom foul on at the buzzer to hand washington the game

Now if the originals would stop “managing” games that would be great.
