Costly Tweeting for Chandler and Amare

According to the NBA, Tyson and Stoudemire didn’t wait long enough to update their followers on the minutiae of their lives, and it’s going to set them back a few bucks: “The NBA fined Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire and Charlotte Bobcats forward Tyson Chandler $7,500 each Sunday for posting to their Twitter accounts during games in violation of league rules. Stoudemire’s Twitter feed was updated during the Suns’ 126-111 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, and Chandler tweeted a message the same night while the Bobcats were on their way to a 116-81 win over Toronto.”

    Money well spent.
I couldn’t wait to hear their thoughts at the time.
Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to wipe off the excess sarcasm from this message….

    This rule is just pathetic.

I can’t believe how petty and paranoid the NBA is over this.

No, this whole “I need to tell the whole world how I feel right now” thing is pathetic … and remember that you are reading this in a comment box …

These grown men (age wise) need to get off this stupid 13 year old girl fantasy that everybody needs to know what they are doing. I really like Amare and his game, but the day Im running to find out what he has to say about ANYTHING on a damn twitter account…

I agree with the L on this one. Why would players think it’s reasonable or makes any kind of sense to tweet DURING a game? Maybe one of their friends/family did it. As a coach or teammate I’d be dissapointed that instead of being engaged with what’s happening with the game, they would be on twitter.

My question is how do they know that they tweeted during the game. Is there a NBA Twitter Task Force that monitors players twitter accounts for tweets during the times games are being played?

I am on twitter, don’t follow these two, but its not as mundane/teenage girlish as some of you say. MOST people are not just tweeting “i’m vacuuming right now” or things like that.
