Get Ready for a Happy, Sunny SVG

Dwight Howard wants Stan to find his happy place. If such a place exists: “The fiery, demanding Van Gundy confirmed that he met with Howard, who was speaking on behalf of the team. ‘I think, as a team, there was a lot of negativity and it’s not like Stan’s a negative guy,’ Howard said before the Magic left for Boston to face the Celtics on Friday night. ‘But it’s like there’s always some clashes and focusing so much on our mistakes. Instead of bringing each other down, we have to pull each other up. That’s the only thing I wanted from coach.’ Van Gundy told the Sentinel that his negativity was ‘draining the enthusiasm’ from his team. He vowed to change his tactics — from practices to press conferences to the bench on game nights — after listening to Howard’s concerns. The meeting occurred some time prior to the team’s Wednesday morning shoot-around.”

He won’t, he’s a maniac. Seriously, SVG is excellent at Xs and Os but sucks at about everything else that makes a great coach. The Cavs would win the next 3 ’ships if he were Mike Brown’s offensive coordinator. I’m only half-joking.

In a way its true though, you learn it in school and in the workplace that negativity brings the team down. I mean, things are so much easier when you’re having fun.

The Magic mighta won a title last year if he did this a year ago.

or if they covered Fisher’s 3…

Well if he hadn’t subbed in his smallest (and worst) defender who has t-rex arms… D-Fish might have been contested a little better.

I’d like to see Dwight in Utah with Jerry Sloan. Then we’ll see if he thinks SVG is all “negative,” and focusing on their “mistakes.” A coach isn’t supposed to be your paparazzi.

I think Dwight Howard shouldn’t criticize the coach so much publicly, if at all. If he has a problem with Stan Van Gundy, then he should just confront him in private. I hate this type of stuff being leaked

SVG don’t belong in the NBA, not as a head coach, he’d probably rock at some of the lesser roles. Oh and as for people saying Dwight shouldn’t tell Gundy to ligten up, you’re wrong. Being surrounded with negativity, particularly from higher authority can have a serious long-term psychological impact, especially in sport. Although I pity SVG, when I look at JVG I feel like committing suicide so I ain’t suprised if he’s down when he has look at that face of his brother’s often, or even hear his dulcet tones

at least they’ve attempted to reconcile the problems between themselves a lot of players would have just blown up in the media about they’re coach.

I also look forward to D’antoni running the full-court press, Mike Brown and Jerry Sloan coming up with some good offensive sets and George Karl having two great seasons in a row.
