Raptors Need to Toughen Up

When he gets kneed in the groin and stared down by an opposing player, Chris Bosh would like for his teammates to stand up and do something. Really, he doesn’t ask for much: “There’s no other way to say it – we just got punked,’ said Antoine Wright, Toronto’s veteran swingman, a rare voice of outrage on a ho-hum club. ‘We’ve got guys standing over our best player, flexing, and it’s not something we can stand for. I was pretty frustrated sitting on the bench watching their whole team run out there on the floor and we only had our coaches up shouting and screaming at their players. I don’t like that.’ Said Bosh: ‘Yeah, I’d like to see the team more passionate. I look at their bench and they’re all up standing at half-court, and nobody from their team was down on the floor. I think we would react better to just be out there for one another and just stay together.”’

Come to ny. We all remember the issue wit carmelo and nate throw jr into the press. Toroto just aint a grimy city.

Where the fcuk is Reggie Evans? Why did we sign an injured rebounder.

soft soft soft. i felt so bad for Bosh on that play… but i haven’t seen any raptor show toughness since mo pete was on he team… just sad

  • Sparker

poor cwish. i mean seriously. if you’re a power forward and have a problem, take someone’s f-ing head off. it’s not one of their crap players was sent after him to take him out of the game. it was paul pierce and his rickety old butt. STOP FEELING SORRY FOR YOURSELF, YOU BABY. MAN UP.

  • wassup

nastierthanu if you were implying that toronto is a soft city by that comment ahah then you have no clue what your talkin about. No one wants the raptors to man up more then there fans trust me.Toronto is a hockey city so to say its a soft city is laughable, the city is tough then most others in the league its just to bad they keep signin pussies to play on their team.

    We gon bully deez ni&&as!

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

Why don’t we just sign a Leafs player or two?

  • Bruno

why doesn’t he tough up first
the only thing that he does is sream after some dunk but i haven’t see him block or hustle very often
he has to lead his team by example

  • Exile

That was pretty weird to watch. The Raps coach went ballistic… but 0 players (Bosh included)did anything but stand or sit around.

I don’t know if I would qualify Toronto as a hockey city. You have the Maple Leafs.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

As a Raps fan, that play was hard to watch. I don’t think Pierce was dirty but it was f***ing soft of the team to not get off the bench after that play.

  • http://nicekicks.com MeloMan2.0

@doyouwantmore… i think u just stated why toronto IS a hockey city… The worst team in the league and they still sell out every game

  • wassup

You wouldnt qualify toronto as a hockey city?I realize the city is changing its views these days on sports, but to say any city in Canada is not a hockey city is just plain wrong.

  • kh

    Hilariously embarrassing!
You want to be the man, you want to be the leader of the team, the face of the city. You beg for respect and then you want your teammates to run to your aid? Stand up for yourself!
I’m not sure how one responds to getting absolutely shi!!ed on, but the great ones either find a way or they don’t allow it to happen.

  • james

basically all this says is chris bosh is pissed because he got hugely yammed on by the truth and no one cared.

  • Shelton

I can’t believe people actually think he is better than Gasol and the best PF in the league

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

what Anton said!!! AHAHAH…KG at his best!!Its so good they lost the game when hE said that down the stretch, HE COULD NOT BULLY NOBODY!!AHAHAHA!!!im laughing but worring if my team has that problem also…

  • MikeC.

I’ve been saying this for awhile. Raps are not an untalented team. They just don’t have anybody with balls. Bosh is like Dirk was a few years back. Supremely talented, very versatile, but not vocal enough to get people to back up off him. Dirk came out of his shell bit by bit when he got some nastier players around him. Having Josh Howard and Jason Terry pushed Dirk onto the level of non-p@ssy. I wouldn’t call Dirk gangsta by any stretch, but he’s definitely non-p@ssy. Bosh will never be a goon. He just needs to be non-p@ssy, and he needs someone to show him how. When Pierce dunked on him, he kicked Bosh in the vagina, and Bosh went down. In that situation, you need another guy on your team to stand up, throw a forearm or push some dudes around. On the next play, you dump Pierce on his @ss. That’s how it works. Nobody gets beat up, nobody brawls. You just take a hard foul, and stand around staring hard. That’s the NBA tough-guy routine. Nobody on the Raps has figured out the routine yet. Bring back Charles Oakley.

@niQ Reggie Evans is a beast though, almost perfectly what you need. Just gotta wait on that injury

  • Shem

We’re the softest team in the NBA, woow when i saw that i was up on my chair screaming. It was ridiculous Alex english, Jay Triano and Marc Iavaroni (the OLD coaches on the team) are getting in the faces of doc and paul and i see hedo and bargnani watching REALLY?! Like im a HUGE raps fan and after that.. i would be surprised if bosh stayed (P.S Amare Flagranted Bosh in the Phoenix game and nobody did anything but the coaches.. again)

    jo wouldnt take that $hit!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Shelton, that’s because he is. Bosh is definitely better than Gasol. Its not even close, really.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Also, Chris Bosh is NOT soft. Just because he has a smooth jumper does not mean he is soft. He bangs down low and grabs boards like a real big man is supposed to; he leads the league in free-throw attempts. Just because Shaq made a stupid@ss remark these so-called “fans” think Bosh is soft too. Get out of here with that.

  • JoeMaMa

Reggie “The Saviour” Evans, where are you?
Oakley is looking for a job. Can we PLEASE at least get him as a special players assistant or something?!!

  • Shelton

I don’t know bout that Teddy. Gasol is pretty skilled and is good in every area of the game. I thnk Bosh is more athletic. Look at the ball handling and passing he does that’s goes great with his amazing inside game. His #’s are also better than Bosh while he was alone in Memphis.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

The only area I would say Gasol is better than Bosh in is passing. That’s pretty much no contest, but that’s it. Bosh is the better scorer, rebounder, and defender (when he wants to play defense). He’s also a stronger post presence than Gasol–since he really bulked up in the offseason. And I’ll have to check that again, but I’m pretty sure Bosh had/has better numbers than Gasol ever had in Memphis–Pau has never averaged over 10 rebounds a game, whereas Bosh leads the league in double-doubles this year.
Gasol is a great player and he isn’t going to get huge stats because he plays with Kobe, even though he is insanely valuable to that Laker team, but still, I would have to go with Chris Bosh there.
    Its an interesting argument though.

  • nastierthanu

I’m sorry maybe I didn’t make myself clear nyc is much more grimy, gritty,& ready to throw hands for a teammate than toronto.

  • Shem

@Shelton: Chris Bosh vs. Pau Gasol isn’t even close. Don’t get me wrong Gasol is a great player but Bosh is better defender, rebounder, scorer, post player and thats pretty much all you can ask of a big man. If Gasol we’re to switch spots with Bosh, the Lakers would be a dynasty while the Raptors would be struggling (more then they already are). By the way, the raps will get better once we build chemisty and of course, TOUGHEN UP (Bosh isn’t even close to soft)

  • http://www.sixers.com 360vue

I second Teddy-the-bear. Bosh gets too much stick for being soft, he’s miles from being an oncourt psycho being he isn’t soft.

  • Justin

I like the “Bosh should stand up for himself” comments. I’m sorry, but I don’t know too many guys that get kicked in the balls like that and are able to stand up right away. His teammates needed to have his back right there, no matter what. You don’t think if it happened the other way around that Garnett, Rondo, and the gang would be in there pushing and shoving? At the very least, the next person that tries to take it to the hole would wind up on their ass

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Justin mistakes the Boston Celtics for the 90′s Knicks, I think.
