Jennings ‘Cursed’ By 55-Point Game?

The pressure to deliver miracles is starting to get to star rookie point guard Brandon Jennings: “It was great when it happened, the night rookie point guard Brandon Jennings scored 55 points against the Golden State Warriors. But the expectations it brought have the Bucks’ 20-year-old rookie wondering whether it was worth it to get 55 so early in his career, in just his seventh NBA game. ‘I feel like it’s a curse because of the 55,” Jennings said after the Bucks’ practice session Sunday. ‘It’s almost a curse. Now that I’ve scored 55, everybody expects me to go out there and score big numbers every night. I’m just trying to find my way. Not every night is going to be easy. A lot of teams are changing their defense. So it’s not as easy as everyone thinks it is.’ Jennings had 10 points and took just eight shots in the Bucks’ 112-97 loss to San Antonio on Saturday, the Bucks’ fourth straight home defeat. He contributed eight assists and committed three turnovers while playing 30 minutes. He had scored just seven points in the Bucks’ previous game, a 109-97 loss to the Washington Wizards. The Bucks defense has been blistered in recent games and allowed the Spurs to shoot nearly 60% from the field, and the offense also has sputtered with plenty of missed shots.”

    What a surprise…

You don’t get to play the Warriors every night, young man.

  • Hornet

when D-wade said tyreke evans is the best rookie this year everybody was looking at him as if he does not know what he’s talkin’ about.
the result until now : kings way better than the bucks by far

still trying to find his rhythm……once he does that he’ll be a top notch guard. He showed a spark of his potential, its just going to take time.

good and bad. good- showed ppl what he is capable of bad- showed other teams what to key in on to stop him. He is getting the second year defense during the first half of his rookie year

  • kudos

It was the warriors. THE WARRIORS. Didn’t oden bust out with a 20-10 game against them?? Jennings hasn’t shown much so far, he better be workin on his game.

Redd is back, thats why theres a decline in points……he’s the next Iverson guys….just let him chuck shots!!

Yeah he is only avg. 21-6-4-1 … for a rookie. What a bum!!!
I mean, Bron avg. 20-5-5 as a rookie and he is the greatest player of all time …

  • nicko

yo dis jennings jawnt be a gud azz playa. he be makin shotz dat me n my boyz aint neva been seein in da NBA

  • cramzy

I see what he’s saying. I check his box score every night to see if he dropped 30 on somebody since that warriors game. He should relax tho. He’s playing good ball, bucks are competitive and hopefully he has a long career ahead of him.

People need to chill with comparing him to Evans. First, Evans was the THIRD overall pick, there was a reason for that. Second, Evans size plays a huge role. Jennings is gonna be aight as long as he realizes he just needs to play.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

    what neaorin said…LMAO

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

@kudos…Oden had 24 and 16 against Noah and the Bulls

  • Dfrance

Does the team really matter? You guys act like its easy to score 55 points regardless of the competition. If it were so easy, every big scorer in the league would be averaging 55 against them.

The season is only half done, let the kid live.

  • http://realcavsfans.com Anton

They should move him to SG, make him get cornrows and excuse him from practice. It’s your destiny.

  • http://dsjfhklf.com Jukai

You know, I know there is a lot of pressure on Jennings as a kid… but… he is really turning out to be a bit of a whiner. Every day, he’s complaining about the pressure he gets in the media. He needs a better pressure coach to deal with all this.

Tyreke was drafted 4th… and Jennings slipped in the draft because of subpar scouting in europe
And since Yao is taller then all the centers he should have been dominating, right? Tyreke plays 1 and 2 and for a shooting guard hes not tall.

Golden State, Phoenix, New York, Denver (when they get caught in the run&gun): Usually if a young kid is going to get big numbers it will be against a team such as these, where ‘the first to miss’ is the loser and the tempo is pushed through out the entire courseof a game. His 55 came within the flow of the tempo (well, add to that a deft touch from midrange) and he hasn’t had a similar opportunity present itself again. Expectantly, defenses are trapping him more and keeping the ball out of his hands too. I’m pretty sure given the tempo of playing a team like golden state, Anton, Jukai and I could score atleast once each (mine would be an ‘and 1′).

  • Michael Scorn

i feel so sorry for him

  • str8 from samoa

is allgood man. this his first season.

  • hellyea

    @Anton: He’s already got ‘rows. It begins….

  • Justin

@kudos…20 and 10 is considered “busting out”?

  • kudos

Yeah, for Oden that is ‘busting out’ from his regular 8 and 6.

  • Wesley-David

i love how ppl hate lol jennings is doing damn good in my book evans is 6’6″ with a 6’11″ wing span i give him props but he dont have the same pressure or the douters they both are deserving

  • http://slamonline.com/ niQ

I guess he’s waiting for Phoenix now.. and the Bucks play against NY yet? That should be fun to watch.

  • Yesse

Well his numbers are solid for a rookie so expecting too much from him is dumb anyway.Calling him a bust is just such an overrated word.He is way better than a bust just look at the overrall where he was drafted and his stats.
