Dwight Howard Sues the Mother of His Child

Howard denied the lawsuit to reporters last week, but court documents tell a different story: “Documents obtained by WFTV in Orlando and posted on TMZ.com and WSB-TV.com show that Howard’s lawyers filed one lawsuit seeking $9.2 million in damages and the other to get custody of his 2-year-old son. News of the lawsuit spread across the internet late last week. At the time, Howard denied any lawsuits existed. However, court documents obtained by WFTV show the lawsuit was filed Dec. 7. The suit alleges that Reed, along with associates of hers, violated a previous agreement made between the two that disparaging comments made directly or indirectly against Howard not be made or published via the internet or any other communication mediums, according to court documents.”

Meh, I remember when this broke a while back. She was a dancer for the Magic.
It’s not important that people know this, but given some of Howards early comments when he first came in the league, it makes sense.

hope it all works out for the kid, who’s the innocent victim in whatever happens. i wonder if the mary carey story is gonna be used against him in court?

  • http://slamonline.com Brad Long

Yeah, considering dude was kinda on that Tim Tebow religous stuff when he first came in the league I think thats the main reason why this is story.

  • Victor Rogers

Lol I thought he was a devout Christian. Having babies out of wedlock, “C’mon man.”

  • Cizzo

  • BuschFiya

That is the christian thing to do right? Sue people for millions of dollars. After all Jesus looooooooooved money.

19″Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal,
20but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.
21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
24″No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (Matt. 6:19-21, 24)

Looks like Dwight needs to reread that bible, and give all his stupid amounts of money to the less fortunate atheists out there (like me).

    How the F U C K can Dwight sue a cheerleader for 9.2 mile?
Someone needs to explain that to me!
Shouldn’t he eeuh let’s say sue her for a mortal like amount?
Dwight, lend me your ear brother, thou shall not sue mortals for 9.2 mile!
Even if an agreement was made!

  • A

allenP I thought seh was a heat dancer.

  • Nickthaquick

Looks like Big Dwight was called for an offensive foul on that baby hook — should have pulled up before making contact!

  • Nickthaquick

SVG’s comments tomorrow: “They’re picking on my big man. If they won’t let any contact happen on the perimeter, they shouldn’t let any contact happen in the paint.”

  • thalilbigkahuna

Uh, D, that verse is not about hating money. It’s about where a persons heart is. It’s talking about being devoted to money instead of God. It doesn’t say anything about having to give money away. It’s good that he is trying to get custody of his kid, though.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

9 mil? the fvck?! why would you want to ruin the mother of your child? you might hate her all your life, but he wont. ppl forget that.

  • Hangtime Hec

Wait wait. NO NO. Your telling you guys are against this? How many times do we see this go the other way? That some groupie sues a star and gets MILLIONS for child support? At least he wants his kid. I don’t know what the hell i am angry about.

  • http://dsjfhklf.com Jukai

If he was suing her for 9.2 million on her own salary, this would be thrown out of court due to the outrageous difference in money he’s suing for compared to what she makes being a cheerleader.
    So relax.
I’m with Hangtime on this. I’m happy to see Dwight manning up and trying to raise his child.

‘Disparaging comments againts Howard’ She must have been talking bout his free throws…

  • chintao

After having read the remarks, it’s hard to see how they are “disparaging” Dwight Howard. If the statements are facts (D12 does not show for visitation, he hit a lady, he has another baby-mama in ATL, etc.), then I’m not sure Howard will win this case. The only clearly disparaging remark was that “the new girl is trash”; however, that statement is not a remark about Dwight Howard. It is a remark about a third-party. It would not surprise me to hear about this suit for $9.2 million being tossed.

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

^Nah, let’s just say Stan wasn’t the only one not giving Dwight touches in the 4th…

  • that dude

What’s new… another broken home… another brother not married to the mother of his child

  • mar

THIS NI#$$$ got the NBA cares award. LMFAO first he spits on the ball before other peoples freethrows and now this. This guy is jew.

  • http://dsjfhklf.com Jukai

    Dwight Howard is Jewish? L’chaim!

  • rachakaloislane

First of all! If you’re going to make a comment, know the facts. First went to court in October remarks being made on multiple media outlet by Reed. The clincher was being called a deadbeat dad. He to more offense to that remark than any other. Deadbeats don’t give you nearly 25G’s a month in support. Secondly the courts ordered Reed not to Even speak his name publicly, as well as in print. She blatantly defied that order on Twitter as well as her blog. In listed her friends to help her do so. This man makes nearly half of his salary from endorsements. Why would a woman who has his ONLY child, want to put that in jeopardy ? So it’s ok to bash the father publicy, where someday done the line the child that she claims to love and care about might read it. But it’s not ok for him to fight back. Private matter should remain just that, private! Reed put their business out there in the street. He has every right to defind his name.

  • Ronald

Unfortunately, Jukai. In the states, the civil justice system doesn’t take into account ability to pay damages. Therefore cases don’t get thrown out due to outrageous claims of damages. There was a case that was actually heard when a Judge sued a laundry company for wrecking/showing his underwear for 20M+ .

  • http://dsjfhklf.com Jukai

Ronald: Actually, it does. Judges throw out some outrageous claims ALL the time. You think a judge would hear a multi million dollar athlete suing a cheerleader for nine million dollars because of defamation, even in a breach of contract? No way. This is over money Dwight gave her.
There are cases for everything. When a JUDGE wants to sue someone, then they are going to sue someone, no matter how ridiculous.

  • chintao

rachakaloislane Posted: Dec.15 at 10:21 pm ==> We can tell from your handle that you are a big Superman supporter. I can dig that certain things should remain private. That’s cool, but it seems like the rest of your post is way off. A court does not have the power to enjoin someone from uttering or typing any single word. That would be unconstitutional. In addition, the article does not say anything about Ms. Reed saying D12 was a deadbeat. It only says that he has skipped some visitations. If you can link to other proof that supports your claims, we would be happy to see it.

  • D

her and some other bball players(mostly retired) baby mommas were on a a espn 30 minute or hour long report. All had pretty bad things to say but on the other hand she was the most well off out of the group

  • rachakaloislane

Ms Reed on her twitter page did in fact call Mr. Howard a deadbeat dad amongst other things in the first week of October 2009 which was the reason for Mr. Howard suing Ms. Reed in the first place. An apparently you don’t know what a court can or cannot do, because I defy you to find one article, video or anyother news source that Ms. Reed spoke his name publicly since that time. Mr Howard makes more than half of his income based on his public image. You need to check out his lawsuit against Ms. Reed. Page 2 item 11 cleary states that on October 28 2009 Ms. Reed signed an agreement barring her from saying his name, nickname, directly or indirectly in public or in print from that date forward. Therefore you should check court records before you say what can or can’t be done.
