Monta Ellis: Stop Booing Vlad Rad

Monta Ellis is one of the few players in Golden State that home fans aren’t booing, so, I guess it’s his job to defend those who are less popular with the paying customers: “That’s something that I hate… you’re not going to make every shot. Being our home fans, we love them to death. But things are not going right right now. And boos is not what we need. We need all the support right now to keep this team together. I don’t think he deserved to get booed. He came here, he’s been doing great. He just hasn’t learned the system yet. His shot’s not going—hey, it’s the league, everybody goes through it.I didn’t like the boos because we’re family. We consider them our family—our fans. We need all the support we can get.”

Dude’s bounced around so much, I forgot what team he was on. But nice gesture on Monta’s part.

Nice gesture for real. But, Vlad was just horrible last night.

If Vlad did anything other than shoot, maybe he’d get a pass from the fans when has an off night. Since he’s a terrible defender, rebounder, passer, ball handler and snowboarder, he gets booed when his shot doesn’t fall.

  • clockwork

Maybe Monta will get booed for saying that

What’s scarier— Vlad on a snowboard or Monta on a moped?

  • d.j.

good1 jukai idk i wouldn’t wna be in front of either one of them coming my way… i would think the moped would hurt more, altho Vlad is the bigger guy….

  • davidR

mike, you’re being a little harsh. vlad’s actually been doing a decent job defending, and his rebounding is alright. watch the games man.

  • davidR

but really, i don’t see how a starting front court of mikki moore, vlad rad, and morrow isn’t dominating

  • LA Huey

    nice, Jukai

i agree with davidR they should be winning.
its probably their bench that comes in, that 1 guy probably sucks!

  • iLL wiLL

    Vlad is rad.

  • pat

their booing vlad because they thing that he still plays with the lakers. hahaha

They should start booing Monta. I don’t care how much he scores – he’s jacked team chemistry beyond repair.

We’ve gone from being the best fans in the NBA to the worst. Vlad’s defense in the post has been better than any other “big guy” we have available and his rebounding has been decent as well. He’s primarily taking good open shots. They just are not falling probably the result of being banged up and little to no help off the bench. The team is hella injured and young. Booing isn’t going to help them. They deserve more from their fickle fans.

  • MikeC.

@davidr. Vlad’s rebounding numbers are inflated due to the sheer amount of available rebounds based on the speed that GS plays. Faster pace = more shot attempts = more available rebounds. I do watch the games. I’m watching in Canada, and oddly enough, I watch more GS games than Raptors games(because the Raptors suck AND play boring, at least GS isn’t boring). Don’t apply my logic to Amare and the Suns or my argument is gone. That dude should be battling Dwight for league leader in boards.

  • MikeC.

And anybody saying their team is struggling due to injuries needs to take a peek at the Blazers. They’re so banged up, their coach is on the chillin’ list and Juwan Howard is getting minutes. Juwan just signed for the free jersey, and now he’s playing big minutes. That’s how badly banged up Portland is. Nobody else gets to complain about injuries.

  • robb

That’s another difference between GSW and the L.A. Lakers, You’ll never see L.A. fans booing Vujacic.

  • MikeC.

Laker fans don’t need to boo Vujacic. I’ve been booing him plenty.

  • davidR

yea, vlad’s numbers are up cause of the pace, but he’s been crashing the boards a lot better than any other rebounder currently active on the warrior roster so i’ll recognize. his demeanor makes it seem like he doesn’t care, but deep down he has to even a little cause he rebounds and is playing good d. yea he misses open shots, but as noah was saying i’m sure it’s cause he gets banged up from guarding stronger forwards and doesn’t have bench relief. all in all, fans shouldn’t be booing him — he’s at least trying

  • davidR

boo monta? you must be crazy. i’m sure you support trading him away too, right?
mike, i really thought toronto would improve this year but damn. i figured marco would do pretty well, and it seemed like he was until he got injured, they have the talent, but the system isn’t working. maybe avery johnson could turn that team around?

  • Kyle

It’s really cool that Monta got his back. I didn’t know that he was actually a character/team guy, but this is a big step for him to be a real leader.
