Ray Allen Joins the 20,000 Point Club

Jesus Shuttlesworth added to his Hall of Fame resume last night, in DC: “Ray Allen entered last night’s game against Washington on the cusp of joining one of basketball’s elite clubs. The 13-year veteran needed 14 points to crack the 20,000-point plateau, and in the third quarter became the 37th player (33d solely in the NBA) to reach the mark by sinking a straightaway 3-pointer. For Allen, looking back on the games, the baskets, the years, and the work that went into it was humbling. ‘It’s interesting how basketball’s such a team sport, but it’s governed by so many individual statistics,’ Allen said. ‘I’m just grateful I’ve had great teammates, I’ve had great coaches, and I’ve had pretty good organizations, and that’s helped me be where I am today.’’’

thats why everyone likes ray ray, he’s so humble and quiet… good job walter

  • Ken

    Congrats Jesus!

  • http://www.twitter.com/mansonovic Mansonovic

That is one classy basketball player.

  • LeoneL

Nice…that’s 20,000 reasons why Jesus is better than me…or yo

  • LeoneL

that’s “you” by the way not “yo”…lol

  • http://claydefayette@yahoo.com CDef28

    Not a Hall-of-Famer though.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Wait, what? Ray Allen is not a HOF’er?
Ray Allen is so worthy of that honour.

  • rainman10

Not a Hall-of-Famer??? I think if a player has a career 20 ppg average, is regarded as a top 3-point shooter, and top shooter in general, of all-time, a main piece to a championship team, and starred in He Got Game…he going to the hall-of-fame.

    CDef28 is a d!ck.

Jesus is still so humble amidst this achievement. That’s why he’s so classy on and off the court.

  • monkeyball

If Joe Dumars is a HOFer, then Ray Allen should be also. If Reggie Miller makes it to the HOF, so will Ray.

  • http://claydefayette@yahoo.com CDef28

Who said Reggie should be in the Hall? When the Celtics won the championship, Allen was missing everything he threw up. And by the way, he didn’t exactly make Seattle a winner.

  • http://claydefayette@yahoo.com CDef28

Dumars is an NBA Finals MVP. Don’t bring up stats in that conversation. Joe D played great defense and could score.

  • http://claydefayette@yahoo.com CDef28

And the Bucks were terrible with him. The centerpieces on the championshi Celts were Pierce and KG. Ray Allen was never relied upon. That’s not a Hall-of-Fame player.

  • martin

ray allen was the leader of the 04-05 sonics team that won 52 games and made it to the west semis. and he, along with big dog glenn robinson and sam i am cassell, led the 01 bucks team to the east finals. they also could’ve made it to the nba finals if not for iverson’s heroics.

  • martin

9-time all-star + olympic gold medalist + nba champion + one of the (if not the) most accurate 3-point shooters in nba history = springfield!

  • http://claydefayette@yahoo.com CDef28

Martin thank you for pointing out his brief success with the Bucks. With that said, I still do not believe he is there.

  • Gus

CDEF28 is stupid and probably ugly. Im pretty sure Reggie Miller will get inducted into the HOF. Im not trying to compare anyone to anyone, but if Reggie is gonna make HOF how can Ray Ray not? As mentioned hes a 20PPG scorer for his career and regarded as the best pure shooter in NBA history. Not to mention he soon will be #1 in all time 3 point fgs made and to top it all off he has a ring. Not a hall of famer, stupidest comment ive heard all week, check urself and grow up

  • BostonBaller

Ray is indeed a future HOFer. Mr. cdef, his stats alone takes him to the door of the Hall and all of his intangibles carry him over the threshold. I’m so tired of people harping on his cold streak during the championship run when in fact he DID indeed come through when it counted, he did indeed do ALL the other things a great player is supposed to do, he did indeed play good defense on James even though everyone praised Pierce alone (b/c the media loves a dual). So many “fans” keep saying he is washed up yet he keeps on playing well AND he still takes it to the hole hard. The Bucks were young and so was Ray, The sonics didn’t have the players yet he carried them. I believe Ray will even get Rondo to improve his jumper.

  • http://dsjfhklf.com Jukai

Seattle never WON anything with Ray Allen? That was a truly awful, awful team and Ray Allen made them relevant, brought them to the post season! You’re crazy to think anything otherwise.
Ray Allen is a HOF -LOCK.-

  • BostonBaller

Laser Ray still has hops too.

  • Statik

Are we forgetting he also tied the finals record for treys in on game (7) vs the Lakers in game 6, broke the total amt of treys in a finals over Majerle (22), and still averaged over 15 ppg in the playoffs when they won the chip? Not to mention one of the classiest players in the league, never been ejected from a game, never comitted a flagrant foul…hell, the baddest thing I seen this guy do was hang with Rick Fox and pop off the men@ge

  • http://dfinney0415@yahoo.com KR

I’ve never come across someone who wasn’t feeling Shuttlesworth…you’re a horrible person, CDef…I’m so appalled…

  • ClydeSays

You score 20,000 points, they should have to call your Doctor, or Sir or something…

He gets my HOF vote. If I had one.

  • Juice20

Yae Ray Ray got game def hall of fame

  • a_whiteman

If ray allen is a lock for hof(which he IS) then reggie is sure fire lock as well, hands down one of the most clutch players the league has EVER seen.

  • http://www.nicekicks.com Chris

Ray missed everything he shot when the won a championship? Are you on crack? Then how did he set a finals record for most three pointers made?

  • Treivr

@Chris I’m pretty sure he set the record for most 3s in a finals game with 8 in game 6.

  • Gus

ya, chris you tellem…..you tell the world

  • james

im just going to quote this
    “CDef28 Posted: Dec.11 at 10:34 am
Who said Reggie should be in the Hall? When the Celtics won the championship, Allen was missing everything he threw up. And by the way, he didn’t exactly make Seattle a winner.”

and retort with the simple FACT.
that ray allen shot the highest every 3pt% in the 2008 finals. no ones shot better than him. he was missing less than 1/2 3′s… 0.521

  • Gus

atta kid james…..Cdef is sooo stupid

  • rhs

Yeah, CDef, get the f*ck out. You’re just dumb. And a hater.

Anyway, congrats Ray-Ray! :D that jam on Blatche last night was monster. Dude’s still got hops.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Jesus is in the HOF. That’s a lock. The only arguments against it come from people whose opinions don’t count for sh*t anyway.

  • AnsonPanson

CDef is probably some gay kobe/lebron fanboy

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

lol @ CDef getting paid out on.

  • http://www.jameyburke.blogspot.com KobeWearsAPurpleThong

Congrats Jesus. I look forward to watching you help hoist Banner 18 to the rafters next October.

  • http://www.nba.com rushmelo

ray allen is one of the best ever SG to have played the game.
best 3 POINT shooter ever in the nba.
and also the most natural release!

his attitude is just that of tim duncan at the guard position.

  • http://www.nba.com rushmelo

    CDef 28

dont give us wikipedia read stuff about JOE D.

    go F**K urself

  • http://www.yahoo.com Logues

love wathcing ray play, one of my favorite players of all time, and is gonna end up all time leader in threes with a couple rings(calling c’s this yr), i would say that is HOF worthy

  • Teddy-the-Bear

CDef: WHAT? Reggie Miller and Ray Allen shouldn’t be Hall-of-Famers? Are you serious?!?!?!

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    Congratulations, Ray Allen!

  • http://claydefayette@yahoo.com CDef28

Sorry everyone we should let every great three-point shooter in. Maybe Monday there will be a Michael Redd Hall-of-Fame campaign comment section. I guess I just think it should be harder to get in the Hall of Fame than others think.

  • http://www.yahoo.com Logues

CDef: in case u missed the heading, it says ray allen just scored 20,000 points, and he will prolly end up with just under 25,000. and ray can do more than just shoot threes.

  • BostonBaller

cde is obviously crying out for attention and the best way to get it is to write something pretty outrageous here. CONGRATS! Now that you have had your time in the spot light I suggest you go into the archives and become a witness of Ray getting it done in all aspects of the game….

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

CDef: dude, comparing Ray Allen to Michael Redd demonstrates your lack of knowledge and why your comments should just be ignored. LOL – just man up and admit you were wrong.

  • riggs

lmao @ everyone pulling Cdef’s card, as for him GTFO of slam for that comment.

  • dutch Rob

Just get out of here CDEF with your dumb comments
Ray is gonna be the number 1 in threez made all time
More threez made than Reggie Miller! His form is just pure beauty. I don;t remember anyone who shoots it better maybe Reggie in the clutch but thats it.
Ray is a lock for Springfield

  • http://celticknightk3@aol.com Celtic Knight

Ray Allen definately future HOF. I seriously believe he is more consistant than Reggie Miller. I truly believe Reggie, Ray Ray are up there with Larry “Legend” Bird and Dennis Scott as far as clutch 3-point shooters. Ray Ray is an all around shooter and free throw master and can drive to the hoop.

  • warren

Cdef’s a dope..snap back to reality dude..ray brought every team he played with to the playoffs..the way he plays is poetry in motion..deadliest gunner in the league of all-time

  • SMH

Smh @ this CD guy.. don’t even respond to him.. he obviously has not idea what he’s talking about.. or no knowledge what so ever about ray.. anyhow

    Congrats ray!!

  • Lu

Ray allen missed everything he threw up in the finals? he set a record for most 3s in a finals series with 22 and hes tied for most 3s ina single finals game with 7. and how many games would they have lost if ray allen wasnt there? his late game heroics? on top of that, how easy is it to score 20,000 points in the nba and hit accurately from beyond the arc scoring more than 2000+ 3s in his career. if hes not a hall of famer, its cuz ur a hater with pointless opinions backed up with no facts. stats dont lie
