Humphries, Williams to NJ; Najera to Dallas

The Nets and Mavs were involved in a minor trade yesterday: “The Nets acquired Kris Humphries and Shawne Williams from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Eduardo Najera. In a separate move, the Nets waived forward Sean Williams. Humphries should immediately enter the Nets rotation as the first big man off the bench. In six NBA seasons, he has modest numbers but, at 24, is viewed as a young, athletic player who still has room to grow. His minutes (12.6 per game this season) should increase with the Nets. Humphries’ entrance corresponds with the exit of the often-injured Najera, 33, who was signed by the Nets in 2008 to provide a veteran presence but wasn’t on the court nearly enough to make much of an impact. With the Nets devoting minutes to their younger players, Najera became expendable — he appeared in just 13 games this season. Sean Williams, in his third season with the Nets, entered the league as the team’s first-round draft pick in 2007, with loads of potential. But after 2 1/2 unfulfilled years, on and off the court, the athletic big man is headed out of New Jersey with career averages of 4.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.”

Kris Humphries always grew into an All Star in my NBA Live 2005 Dynasties. Here’s hoping that the analog Kris does as well as the digital one!

if the nets give him minutes, humphries is really going to help them out a lot. im surprised he didnt get enough PT with dallas, anytime he came into the game he played real well

The Raptors should at least consider Sean Williams. The dude can ‘swat’ shots.

I thought Kris Humphries was looking great for Dallas this year?! He came in and muscled guys around the basket – what about that block he got a month back on anthony Randolph??! it was insane.

  • Alphonso Ford

I’ve got Kris averaging 13.2 points and 12.6 rebounds on my NBA Live 2010 Rockets team, he’s playing centre alongside Landry at the 4. I’m with you on that Laumol!

I really liked Kris Humphries’ hustle when he was on Raptors. I thought he needed more playing time.

I guess two of Sean (Shawne) Williams was too much for the Nets to keep track of. They would have single-handedly kept the Nets weed man in business.

Wow, the Mavs gave up on Humphries for Najera? I don’t see the point.

Bad trade since Dallas doesn’t have Bass anymore, should have kept Humphries to me, but hey I just play a GM on NBA 2K10. What’s up with all this NBA live playing, this isn’t 1998 any more.

  • tavoris

@The Seed-Humphries isn’t really needed since they have Gooden. I know they’re different players, but he was never gonna get more than 10 min a game. Dallas made this move for Najera’s contract.

  • Bushfiya

Humphries, when he was a Raptor was always good energy off the bench. he should do well in any new situation thrown at him.

  • http://slamonline.com/ niQ

@tavoris. That’s true but Gooden and Damp keep taking turns chilling on the injured list.

@niQ Pops > Williams. They let him go, why pick up someone who’s unstable.

  • tavoris

@NiQ-true, but they don’t really need them but 20 mpg total anyway

I’m sorry for the NBA Live mixed in the discussion. Someone please buy me 2K10 or NBA Jam on the WII so you don’t have to read my NBA Live comments anymore…

@the seed. i got live 10 and 2ksports 2010. They are both worthwhile for 360. using 2k I’m trying to crack the L in my career mode. but an undersized PG really is a burden.

  • wilz

i feel u titan. its hard out here for a D-leaguer…even when ur not undersized.

humphries will never be more than a small role player…his movement quality is just all wrong for basketball regardless of what ur vid might say

Yeah the LA Defenders basically “drop” me after every match and then ‘resign’ me. I think it might have a glitch.

  • Cizzo
