Can the Bulls Get Rid of Tyrus Thomas?

Things have clearly not worked out between both parties, and it now appears to be just a matter of time until a separation occurs: “You don’t lose your starting job to injury’ is one of the older clichés in sports, which, sadly, ‘a Tyrus Thomas team-imposed suspension’ is becoming too. Following Thomas’ verbal tirade at coach Vinny Del Negro on Friday in Atlanta, that’s three disciplinary actions taken by management in four seasons for Thomas, the soon-to-be former Bull. Whether the Bulls find a taker for the forward by the Feb. 18 trade deadline or simply renounce his rights this summer, Thomas either will or won’t reach his tantalizing potential elsewhere.”

    Tyrus to OKC haha

Tyrus Thomas for Brendan Haywood hahah

I still think he could flourish in the right environment with a veteran ballclub that won’t put up with this stuff. I mean, he’s a better player than JJ Hickson who’s now routinely scoring 10 to 15 points per game by just cutting to the basket and running the break. What’s with the LSU guys?!

  • Coach Walt

If Tyrus goes to the West, or to an uptempo team where he doesnt have to be the feature big man in a half court setting..he will thrive into a high octane double, double player. His game really hasnt developed, which makes me think, who and what is he working on in the offseason (standing still jumpshots probably)) I will say this once Tyrus leaves he will be another in a long line of Chicago athletes not just basketball who thrive elsewhere once they leave Chicago..

Can you run with Chris Paul?

  • james

He’ll be out of the league before he is 30 you can count on that.

Hickson might not be highly skilled, but he is a helluva athlete and all hustle. Then again, when u play with bron you gotta hustle cuz he will reward you. JJs dunks are pretty amazing. Tyrus for ray ray.

I wish Tyrus had continued to develop he is a great player however he has now been replaced by Taj Gison

I know the Raptors could DEFINITELY use Tyrus. Don’t know who to give up though. Would Reggie Evans be enough? How about Evans and Rasho (or Amir).

Tyrus thomas just doesn’t fit in vinny del negros offense. I would say run him outta town but thomas’ development isn’t worth one man’s job. I mean unless he were derrick rose. Luol deng used to be their franchise player prior to rose’s arrival and he’s still tryin to find his way. What thomas needs most right now is not only a team where he can fit perfectly but discipline as well. He would thrive in denver or golden state where there’s a veteran head coach who has a history of winning alotta games.

Taj gibson probably isn’t a better player nor does he look like he has a better upside. But he’s obviously outworked thomas who’s been holding down a vacant position. Gibson is a better not only a better defender with intangibles almost as useful as those of thomas but he plays hard. Lookin like a veteran rather than a rookie.

c’s should try getting him, they need some rebounding and defense and young blood if they wanna win it all, yesterday proved that

  • riggs

if he wasnt so damn immature.

  • Jake

In all honesty,if the Celtics could get their hands on him(Deal Shelden Williams and tony allen with a few draft picks)I would be ready to hand them the championship.Either that or they could trade Ray Allen,Kendrick Perkins and a future first round pick for Chris Bosh since he likely won’t be staying in Toronto. The money works.

  • airs

package tyrus and bmiller for amare. done and done

  • Candice

I can’t keep making excuses for Tyrus. If Noah can get it together, Tyrus should be able to. All he needs to do is rebound, shot block and get the occasional dunk.

No one should be taking jump shots unless your name is Derrick Rose(he’s working on it), Luol Deng, and Kirk Hinrich.

Seems like it’s more of a player-coach issue. If that’s the case, I know who I’d get rid of first…

  • J-Ro

I’m with Airs on this one. Chicago wants Amare so they should go for it.

  • Tommy Patron

More like it seems like this player has coach issues, period.

  • pappy

He is a four year vet so he should have matured by now. He clearly does not learn from his mistakes and has fought with Skiles and VDN who are very different characters, thus I blame him. Tyrus cannot think the game at the pro level and his athletic skills while exciting are not enough to overcome the trouble he causes with his out of control play.Getting spacing right with Noah on the court is hard enough. Get what ya can for him and move on. Another haunted bulls draft pick.

Traditionally speaking the Bulls have never devel oped their players. Tyrus is one of the latest who embody a myriad of potential! Personally, I’ve seen growth in his game. It hasn’t been tremendous, but he’s shown inprovement in various areas. If the Bulls had a real coach, we would all enjoy some amazing highlights between D-Rose(Da One) and Tyrus. Since they don’t and Vinny’s tryna Mike D’Antoni Tyrus, Bulls fans have to suffer and hope Taj does his thing at the 4 spot. And hope is not a strategy…
