Cavs Reportedly Still Eyeing Iguodala

Iggy’s unhappy days in Philly may soon come to an end: “Andre Iguodala, the current Philadelphia 76ers franchise player who was regarded as untouchable just a year ago but is now the centerpiece of a salary-cap hamstrung team only staying out of last place because of the New Jersey Nets. First come the facts. According to several league sources, the Cavs and Sixers have been in talks about Iguodala. The talks remain open and it is still possible the Cavs could trade for him, contrary to other reports at the end of the last week. At this point, however, the two sides are just in discussion and have not progressed to the serious stage. The Sixers are probably at that stage with a lot of teams. Over the last several weeks, when the Sixers actually starting making calls offering Iguodala, some teams were taken off guard. They had not done research into Iguodala because recently it didn’t seem sensible. After all, it was less than two years ago that the Sixers signed Iguodala to a six-year, $80 million deal and hoped he’d mature into an perennial All-Star.”

in case the cavaliers get iguodala i dont understand what role will he play??

and seriously the cavaliers are already loaded and can win it all this year.(Mo Williams FG % you hear me?!)

even if this trade goes through AND something goes wrong the cavaliers may screw up the whole scene by shipping lebron to New York.

Rushmelo – why do you like your name to googlemail and not an actual website, They brobably want iggy just incase lebron leaves plus iggy can play shooting guard and is probably better than williams who will probably bottle it in the playoffs (again) and lebron can also play PF if iggy needs to play SF

  • neaorin

I’m not sure Iguodala is the right type of player to put at SG next to LeBron. Although a lineup of Delonte – Iggy – LBJ – Varejao – Shaq might set a new record for fewest points allowed during the playoffs.

The Cavs are always in the mix for a trade. Iggy would be the second best player on the team and a consistent scoring threat (Mo/West/Parker etc. can’t be relied upon on the regular). Brown would also push Iggy to play D and at his size/quickness can take a lot of pressure off of Bron against some of the bigger 2′s and 3′s in the L that the Cavs don’t really have an answer for (besides Bron). I like this move for the Cavs and hope they can pull it off, but this is the Cavs were talking about…

  • T-Money

Mike Brown doesn’t care that much about offense, having the best player in the L and all. Iggy fits PERFECTLY on the defensive end. As neaorin said, how do you score on that line up? Bron-Iggy could be like MJ-Pip except the sidekick would be the 2-guard. I’m much more excited about Iggy to the Cavs than Jamison or STAT. The bigse rotation is alright but AP is not getting it done at the 2.

  • T-Money

NUPE: you have a point. the cavs never pull of anything. the shaq trade was there for them at the last deadline and they passed.

  • Cizzo

If you are not happy there is moways you can positively play productively, trade him and get ready for one those NCAA young guns, or keep him and both the organization canride that fatass contract out together! I I was AI I wouldn’t want to got the Clevland though, we aa know it’s over when LBJ heads outto the far East to hang out with JayZ in the EMpire State!

  • kobesbestfriend

Iggy sux…tmac would be a better fit

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

@ Nupe: Suns wanted Delonte at the trade deadline last season and Cavs rightfully didn’t want to give him up.

Iggy can’t shoot though. Wasn’t that part of the problem with Larry Hughes (and the fact that he was injured all the time)?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Iggy is no larry hughes. iggy next to lebron is a 18 4 4 guy. plus they will have a perimeter defense unit that would rival LA. Larry Hughes was an undersized off-Guard who got most of his defensive accomplishments through overplaying. plus mo williams makes up for iggy’s jumper. Larry Hughes played next to the worst offensive player in NBA history (eric snow)

  • IndyB

    NBA History?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

yep ever. its obviously debatable, but for a starting pg in this generation. he is the equivalent to whoever you name in any other generation at any position. eric snow couldn’t shoot…..from anywhere. he was so atrocious teams would double off of him like he wasn’t in the game to begin with. basically Cleveland played 3 years of 4 on 5 on offense

  • rob

AI would be a cool addition but I don’t think Cleveland stands a chance if Mo Williams remains a Cav. Say what you want about him, that’s the truth.

  • LA Huey

IndyB, nbk is right. I don’t think there was a more inept offensive player than Eric Snow in his “prime”. My friends and I would play drinking games during the 2000 and 2007 finals that revolved around the scoring of Mr Snow

  • vmcb

I have tickets to see the Raps play Cleveland at the end of the month, so I’m hoping Iguodala is in a Cavs jersey, if only for entertainment’s sake.

  • Young C

The sixers shouldnt have gave him that big ass contract

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    NBK
Iverson took Snow to the Finals. Just saying. Cannot be said enough that while that Philly team was a beast on defense, they were equally inept on offense.

“iggy next to lebron is a 18 4 4 guy”
wow dude is already an 18-6-6-2 guy. next to lebron he would shine. people complainin about his shooting but without having to create his own shot he would be very proficient; frequent highlight reel alley-oops, as well as easy drives to the lane with the space created by lebron’s presence, and some breakaway slams from his ubiquitous steals. He can play lockdown D and he’s fairly clutch. Hopefully that mammoth contract will put any suitors off.

  • T-Money

allenp: so did bron. still an offensive liability.

  • http://www.twitter.com/Th3_R3al_Chris Th3_R3al_Chris

The Cavs could probably get David West right now since Hornets season is done. Shaq’s always found great success with that type of Power Forward too (Horace Grant, Robert Horry, Udonis Haslem).

  • Gatsby

Please get Iggy out of Philly. if i have to watch any more games of Iverson deferring to an offensively inferior player who can not make a shot unless he is on fire I will cry. literally, tears. everyone was wrong about him. scottie pippen my ass. he is a great defender, and good enough to be a 3rd option, but thats it. I’d run him at point if i were the cavs and tell him not to shoot unless its a dunk.

hes a great passer and great defender, but he will never be a first or second option. its funny that everyone said iverson was holding him back all of those years.

  • Jack

Co-sign Gatsby. Iggy’s best offensive skill is his playmaking (besides dunking). It is VERY annoying watching AI defer to Iggy, when it’s obvious he’s still the better player. Elton Brand still has it too, they need to get him the ball more.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

I think Iggy is a little hurt and it is affecting his play. He is suppose to be the franchise player. Yet 2 times they have brought in veterans with supperior talent (Brand and Iverson) who command more respect than he does. Since Iggy is still young, he is probably insecure about losing leadership to 2 guys that have more of a presence in the lockerroom than he does. He needs a new start, maybe the Cavs are the best option.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

It’d be interesting to see the Sixers play around their strengths with Iggy in Cleveland: Elton Brand and Allen Iverson. That would be awesome.

  • J

David West is still who i want more. young, good contract, can create on his own,. second is Jamison, cause i still think he’s the best fit among all the names paired to us, Iggy is a great player but i not confident on how he would fit in our offense, and his contact is too big, too long. and i’m not sure what to feel about Amare, he could be gone after this season..

  • http://www.behindtheb.blogspot.com Sam Raphael Chadwick

Iggy would fit better in maybe Houston with Trevor Ariza and Aaron Brooks the Chase Budinger off the bench and the Phili get T-Mac and then that cleares space at the end of the season.

  • http://m.twitter.com/BeeBopLive BeeBopLIVE

1st off philly is becoming a wasteland, 2nd off dre dala & lebron would be unstoppable, bc dre dala doesn’t have a huge ego and knows how 2 be a high profile role player who can step up when needed and he is very versatile and demands attention, so if I was cleveland, I would ship some of the dancing bench players and turn tha cavs into and automatic nba all time team

  • http://www.google.com rushmelo

well i seriously feel it will become a case of too much talent.Iguodala should stick with the sixers and wait for their franchise to make some good moves and before you know it he will be a amazing player.
he puts in the numbers every night.
    Too bad his team sucks.
after Lebron he’s the only one who comes to mind who can actually average a 20+ PPG 8 RPG 8 APG
    along with great D.

  • Da Hood

OMFG!!!! I didnt know they were looking at him but if they(Ferry) could grow a pair, should pull the trigga quick.
