D.J. Augustin/Big Baby Swap?

Rumor has it that Boston and Charlotte are exploring the possibility: “The Boston Celtics and Charlotte Bobcats are discussing a trade centered around Glen Davis and D.J. Augustin, according to league sources. The sources cautioned that nothing is imminent, but said the clubs are having discussions. The Bobcats have been searching for a power forward, and the 6-foot-9 Davis could be their man. The Celtics, meanwhile, have been longing for a backup point guard, and Augustin, who’s fallen out of favor with Charlotte coach Larry Brown, would be more than adequate. A straight-up trade would not work because Davis is a base-year compensation player, so other players would have to be involved to meet the financial requirements. That could be a sticking point in the deal.”

would be a nice trade but no way this is going to happen

  • Buschfire

doubt it’ll happen but who knows maybe big baby can break out in charlotte with more playing time…

Augustin would be a great backup for Rondo, energy wouldn’t drop and Augustin has a bit of a more consistent outside touch than Rondo which gives the whole thing some depth. Also Augustin would probably play better witht the extra motivation of playing on a contender with insghtful vets around him. Not so certain about how much Big Baby can help Charlotte though.

We need a POINT GUARD we already have eddie house. Whats the point in just slightly upgrading on the same type of player?

  • AL29

A back-up point guard? The Celtics already have one of the best starting PG’s in the L. The PG spot is not the problem. How about a back-up power forward, or a back-up small forward?

Uh, so let’s say KG or Rasheed gets injured. Then what?

This is actually just a ploy by the Bobcats to get John Wall.
    Straight up trade doesn’t work.
Trade DJ+another player for Big Baby and a 1st rounder.
The ‘Cats don’t make the playoffs and with their 2 first rounders, trade up before the lottery is announced, then miraculously get the 1 pick, and grab NC native Wall.
Didn’t you guys see that from the beginning? Jeez.

Tony Allen would back up Peirce, House would back up Ray, and Augustin would back up Rondo. Not a big C’s fan, but that could work. Davis might not really fit in good with the Bobcats rotation though.
