DWill Unhappy about Brewer Trade

For a team vying for the No. 2 seed out West, shaking up the roster with a last-minute trade probably wasn’t the best plan. Says Deron Williams: “I think if we’d make a trade it would be something a little different than that. You look at all the teams that are getting better around the West and we essentially get worse, if you ask me. That’s why I signed a three-year deal.”

who did they trade brewer for?

  • Hangtime Hec

    Cold Blooded.

  • Young C

They traded him for a future draft pick

  • Young C

    …to Memphis

In my gucci mane voice “well damn”

  • http://slamonline.com/ Ryne Nelson

I think DWill might be going a little too far. Brewer’s worth more than a first rounder, but the Jazz won’t be any worse without Brewer.

  • Logues

Ryne: i think, dwill might know better than you would. just sayin

  • JoeMaMa

The Jazz signed Millsap and wanted to trade Boozer until he blew up all over again. They needed to move dollars; it was a money move. I think DWill will see that, but right now the man is mad, and for good cause: the Jazz are one of the best teams around right now. Were?

  • T-Money

Uh, Ryne, Ronnie was their best 2-guard by far. I have to feel for Deron they gave away Maynor and Brewer for nothing. They’re not trying to get better. / Likewise, imagine if Denver still had Camby? They’d be STACKED.

  • Bruno

deron’s right cause if Utah gets the Lakers in the playoffs who’s gonna defend Kobe
    Brewer had that job

  • http://www.need4sheed.com Tarzan Cooper

deron’s mad. will be interesting to see what happens with utah.

  • http://www.hoopsvibe.com/features/overdribbling chiqo

i agree, but you can’t call out your boss like that. or maybe, if you’re deron williams, you can.

  • slamfan4life

DAMN, I think it was just harsh words though idk if he’ll just leave like that….Salt Lake City will have nothing left

DWILL if you do leave, please go to a good ass team w/o a proper PG

Damn. . . Here we go

  • http://Slamadamonth.com Mvp23100

Theres alot of people mad about moves this year

  • http://twitter.com/PDXGayBBall dma

it’s sad when moves are made with strictly money involved. cj miles and their rookie matthews on kobe. can’t wait for that in the playoffs so mamba can eat them alive.

  • lakersssssssss

utah aint going nowhere , whats the big deal
    their oragnization is thinking futureee

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Ronnie was the Jazz’s best two guard and their second best defender. He brought a lot to the table and its kind of “unfair” for the Jazz to do him like that… for a draft pick.

  • http://slamonline.com CB 34

@ ryne: That’s wrong man. They are worse without brewer. He brought a lot to the table. Matthews is alright but he has a ways to go. Utah is one of the best teams right now and they didn’t have to do this. I know the jazz were trying to save money but they should have paid the price for this one. They could afford it. Deron would always call him his little brother. business or not, they should have consulted deron on this one.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Man, that trade makes no sense. Yes, they’ll get an extra 1st rounder, likely in the lottery, but damn. It’s going to severely hurt them for the next few years.

  • Shem

Its a cap move, they have 22 mill invested on pfs THIS YEAR. + a first rounder from memphis aint half bad. Memphis will get maybe a 10-15 pick so for brewer that’s alright. I’d be mad if I were Dwill too…

Should have traded Boozer for Tyrus Thomas and draft picks. He could have helped in a back up role, when Milsap went to the bench and kept Brewer. Now who is going to guard, Melo, Lebron, Kobe. And AK47 is now like a watergun now, so the Jazz just got very bad.

  • matt

the jazz had 4 shooting guards. Brewer, who couldn’t shoot but could defend; Mile, a good shooter who is way too inconsistent to start; Korver, an un-athletic, oft-injured shooter; and Matthews, a undrafted rook who seems consistent offensively and defensively but is not ready to start. now there is three. it really isn’t going to matter. during the playoffs, the jazz got worked because kobe didn’t bother guarding ronnie b. jazz should’ve at least got salmons. looks like the gm is waiting for the knicks pick for shooting guard and is clearing space to make booz an offer. good luck…

  • Flight

This pick is New York’s is it not? They could potentially land the number one pick if it is.

  • Flash

    brewer just got injured

  • http://www.another48minutes.com Gerard Himself

What Deron shouldn’t forget is that the Jazz has the Knicks’ unprotected draft pick this summer. Which, as it looks now, might be a top 10 pick. So even if he’s not that happy now, there could be help on the way this summer.

  • LCD Screen Cleaner

ooooh, I can’t really imagine derong williams anywhere else. Indiana?

  • http://www.slamonline.com melvin ely

@LCD: I’m gonna give you 1 chance to explain that comment before I start calling it uncalled for. On-topic, I know the dude is pissed, but I don’t see the benefit in putting your organization down like that publicly. If there are problems, handle them behind closed doors man, don’t be coming out to the media with all that.

I see how DWill feels his team have given up one of their young up and comming players who is a very good defender for nothing.

  • Jack

T-Money, Denver is much better without Camby.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

If your team is third in the West and they keep trading away pieces, I can understand why you are pissed.
