Josh Howard Will Not Miss Dallas (UPDATE)

Or, perhaps, it’s the other way around: ” Josh Howard played his first game with the  Washington Wizards since being traded by the  Mavericks, and he smiled as he made his postgame comments. ‘It meant a lot, coming to a new organization and show them that I want to be here, plus stick it to the Mavs,” Howard said after the Wizards beat the Timberwolves 108-99 on Wednesday night. ‘I’m happy now, you don’t have to worry about me saying nothing else about them now.’ Howard did not start but entered the game early in the first quarter. He scored 14 points in 26 minutes. In an interview with washingtonpost.com, Howard responded to Mark Cuban and complained about being blamed for the Mavericks’ problems. On Mavericks owner Mark Cuban saying he thought Howard would be ‘re-energized’ by a change of scenery: ‘Whatever. It’s a new start. I’m going to give it my all. As far as being reenergized, that’s the question you have to ask him because I was energized when I was down there.”‘

(UPDATE: New details have emerged about Josh’s awesome partying ways, which the Mavs found to be less than awesome.)

  • LeoneL

It must be really that bad to have Cuban for a boss.

Oh, because “flu-like symptoms” hasn’t been the cover-up word for ‘hangover’ for the history of the NBA. Please.

Seeing as Wizards just won 2 in a row and Dallas handily beat what i thought was a surging Magic team, the deal seems to be working for both sides… But where was THIS J-Ho the last 3 months in Dallas? The one diving into stands for loose balls, the one making clutch jumpers in the 4th, shooting 7-8 for 20 points in 23 minutes… so it wasn’t your ankle at all, was it Josh? Good riddance.

i think dallas did him dirty though. and these ‘sources’ that said he was benched for being hungover is bull. best of luck to howard and arenas.

People give Cuban so much flack for actually CARING about the organization he owns. Get the heck out of here. Cuban > Josh Howard. How many owners can you say really give a f*ck about their teams outside of making a mountain of cash?

  • Shem

Wizaards have won 2 in a row and Dallas ain’t playing 67 win basketball either.. just saying

  • http://slamonline.com Dave

Cuban gets flack for being an egotistical putz. Which he is.

I love Josh. He busted his ass for the Mavs. I guess I’m the only one who liked getting out of the first round for the first time since the Finals run, though. Or maybe the only one who watched Josh play when he should have been having surgery and being a crucial part of the Mavs overtaking the Spurs.
The guys Dallas got will be great for the Mavs, and Josh is gonna help Washington tremendously.
But stop acting like he was such a burden. And even if he was hungover- who effin cares. They play from October-April/June. Very few people go that long without going out a couple times.
Nothing but the best to J-Ho.

  • Not Ballin Anymore

Hey Josh, it maybe a less team but a Better Boss.
U will shine all the way to da bank$$$$.
    God Bless

Cuban cares about his team – I respect that. I don’t like the idea of throwing a player under the bus, but if J-Ho missed a game cause he was hungover, then that’s all on J-Ho. If the team knows he was hungover, they should have fined him instead of being deceptive and saying he had a ‘stomach illness’. I get trying to protect your players and their trade value, but it seems that the L should have rules about covering up injuries, illnesses etc.
