STAT’s Last Game As a Sun Tonight?

A report today claims that Amar’e thinks he’s a goner from Phoenix following the Suns/Mavs game tonight: “Amar’e Stoudemire and the Phoenix Suns are no longer discussing a contract extension, and the All-Star forward was privately telling friends that he believes he’s playing his last game in a Suns uniform on Wednesday night in Dallas, sources said.”

every year same blablabla and nothing happens

miami is off the table apparently. they’re nto willing to eat j-rich’s contract. welcome to the great lakes, amare. / gotta give it to danny ferry, he straight bullies GMs in doing cash for talent deals.

  • vmcb

I’m more excited about Beasley in a Suns uniform than Amar’e in a Heat one.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

1$ says he goes to a team that has not been mentioned in the last week

  • jumpman3224

Ferry is turning into a great GM. Some Cavs fans I’ve talked to believe that the Amare talk is just a front so that the Cavs can make it appear as though they want to bring in Amare, driving the price tag on Jamison and pleasing LBJ. I dont buy that though.

@vmcb. Yea, I’m just waiting for Beasley to flourish in the PHX offense.

Reportedly Lebron wants a trade to upgrade – so Lebron will get one. Amare is first choice and Cavs offer remains more lucrative than anything Miami can come up with. Amare needs a pair of good boots cause the snow is beautiful but deep in NE Ohio. If Amare should fall through then Jamison remains an option. He’s probably a better fit right now but he’s 33 with a contract. Amare is a big risk for Ferry because he could be gone in July. The upside, of course, is a ring this year and a possible dynasty. Not a bad upside. Lebron and Shaq will get him in line and poor maligned Mike Brown WILL teach him defense. 80% Amare, 10% Jamison, 5% someone else 5% no one.

i hope he dont get traded he is the last player ( apart from Nash ) from the suns successful years…. and one of the top 5 pf’s in the L….

  • Jamie

Go to Miami DWade needs the help man. With DWade and Stoudemire Miami will be back in with the big guns!

Amare’s haircut game has been slippin this year. That patchy beard aint doing it either.
My fantasy squad is falling apart after dominating early on:
    Arenas gets suspended.
Roy gets hurt and can’t heal.
And now Monta’s banged up and Amare about to get traded to a slower paced more crowded team offensively…

  • http://slamonline.com tina

Wherever he goes i hope he does well, just traded Kidd for Amare.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Amare is not gone after this year. He’s already said he probably won’t opt out of his contract.

  • barnabusb

Please trade him already. Just not to the Cavs.

“the All-Star forward was privately telling friends that he believes he’s playing his last game in a Suns uniform on Wednesday night in Dallas…”
the word “privately” is pretty redundant in that sentence, eh…

  • T-Money

phx has cornered themselves. there is no way he re-ups there this summer with them openly shopping him like that. so they have to get something for him. they don’t want beas, miami doesn’t want j-rich and philly won’t give them iggy and doesn’t want a STAT/brand combo. there is only one team left…

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

So if this is Amare’s last day at work for the Suns, is he gonna steal staplers and other office stationary?

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com/madlib Michael NZ

Allenp… if a team trades for Amare now, they’d be happy for him to opt in I guess. I mean, they’d (say, Miami or the Cavs) be going after him if he became a FA after this season anyway. Although he did say ‘probably’… he seems to be going back and forth on it. For what its worth, I hope he goes to Miami.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Amar’e will not take his option. Yeah he can’t get more money anywhere else, but he also will no be offered as much money after this summer…why you ask? the impending lockout in 2011-12 that will ultimately result in a lower CBA = lower and shorter contracts. Amar’e and Phoenix have also stopped all extension negotiations. He will not be in Phx next season no matter what

  • Mark

You guys soooo do not want LBJ to get Amare. Look, I know, the Lakers and the Celtics are “America’s teams.” Just face it, LBJ, with Amare or Antawn Jamison, will lead the Cavs further than anyone could imagine. Imagine taking the deepest team in the league getting deeper.

They are realistically giving up JJ Hickson and a draft pick for a 5 time All-Star and athletic big man. LeBron and Amare with the pick n roll = OUCH for other teams.

All I can say is, good luck to the opposing teams after LeBron gets an actual All-Star to play with.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

You’re assuming that a team would tie themselves to a massive and long contract for Amare knowing they could wait him out and get him on the cheap. If teams know he’s angling to beat the deadline for the CBA then they have the leverage when it comes to making a deal.
Plus, it makes sense to take his player option, collect that paycheck, and stack his money in case the league has a labor shortage. If he opts out and signs a smaller but longer deal, there is no promise that will protect him once the owners and union start going back and forth.

If I was Pat Riley, I’d prefer to hold on for now and go for Chris Bosh in the Summer.

Amar’e can go to Cleveland and clog the paint along with Shaq.

  • rob

that JB banner is annoying as f*CK!!!

  • http://slamonline.com dmonz

since Jamison landed with the Cavs.. Miami should gun for STAT .. or PHX can add someone to thier mix that can make them good enough to contend..

  • T-Money

Damn, Kerr might have played himself trying to up the ante for STAT. Phoenix might be stuck with him unless Miami rolls the dices.

  • KH10

I hope to hell we dont lose Amar’e the suns are starting to look like they might have life after Nash with Dragic, Lopez , Frye, Dudley and Admunson putting in work.
If it happens please get Beasley i freaking hate giving away All stars for nothing.

  • Logan

If there were a better time for Amare to come to Miami,if DWade’s injury is going to keep him out the Heat have 12 hours to make a move, and Amare is the only star on the block…

  • http://hoopistani.blogspot.com The Hoopistani

doesn’t anyone else think it’s sad that Amar’e “privately” tell his friends something, and within a few hours its breaking news.

  • therighttoremainsalient

I can imagine PHX screwing Amare over and sending him to Utah – go on and do it steve kerr. do something right these past 4 yrs you douche.
