Who Wants Larry Hughes?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller, Bueller … : “The Sacramento Kings today waived guard Larry Hughes. Hughes was acquired from the New York Knicks as part of a three-team trade on February 18, 2010, and did not appear in any contests with Sacramento.”

i like the reference to beuller hehe

  • http://www.jockjerseys.com/flash/ Cory

Not much he can still do, but a couple playoff-ready teams could plug him in as a spare part.

Atlanta, Portland, Denver, Toronto, Utah & San Antonio seem the most logical destinations based on depth and/or a lack of production at SG.

    Larry… Who??

  • http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/02/tracy-mcgrady-hurt-yes-already-again/ L

    Thats sad.

  • http://www.myspace.com/freedmusic fredd

it’s a weird thing, happening to several ” stars “( maybe not him ) in the game … like you can look at a lil bunch of years ago and they were efficient etc … and without knowing exactly WHY .. their career just comes to an end or like.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

If this was 3-4 years ago, I probably would’ve wanted him on the Raptors…

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

The Cavs will take him because (like someone else here once said) LEBRON HAS NEVER BEEN TO THE FINALS WITHOUT LARRY HUGHES!@! LOL

  • (9

Maybe the lakers he could guard the point

  • MikeC.

Maybe the Knicks will pick him back up after the 30 day wait. His beard was starting to get very impressive, and I truly want to see what it was going to look like by the end of the season.

  • Stillballin

All those games that Larry been playing garbage,is catching Up with him..

  • riggs

not to sound like an a*s but he did this to himself.

  • http://www.slamonline.com wayno

Yeah, this definitly falls into the “you reap what you sow” category…

  • Steve

i havnet kept up with larry hughes in a while. Is he still any good? possibly the magic? could he be that extra offensive spark?

  • http://www.slamonline.com James the Balla

Niq, that was me : D!!!!

  • J-Ro

Utah needs some help at the 2 but the Lakers might need him as a defensive point guard.

  • Jake

    Lakers plz.Or the Bulls.

  • NAS

Celtics, he can handle the ball, they shouldve kept house and then signed hughes, he can give you 12 – 15 quality minutes handling the ball making good decisions and playing solid defense

  • Sparty

    no one

  • http://slamonline.com YKnot

How about the sixers. With AI out they could bring back another guard they used to have who’s past his prime.

  • Garett

Something needs to change in the NBA, and it likely will soon, with all these trades/buyouts. I love it (with guilt) when my teams get back their recently-traded* player, but overall it is garbage.

    If Sacto doesn’t need him…

  • J-City

Larry Hughes is terrible. What ever happened to the http://www.Larryhughesstoptakingsomadbadshots.com website. That thing was hysterical.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

The Lakers could get the most out of Hughes. but i think the Jazz need him. Considering they just gave away their starting 2

  • kev

    um maybe the nets

  • http://www.another48minutes.com Gerard Himself

Cory: the Spurs have enough players who can play shooting guards.
kev: you must be joking about the Nets. If not, I can explain why the Nets don’t need / want him.

  • jdubbs29

If you need someone to come in and gamble on D while jacking up shots and shooting 34%, then Larry’s your guy.

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com/madlib Michael NZ

Why any team would want Larry Hughes at this stage is way beyond me.

  • http://thegoodpoint.com Sam Joynt

In the right role, guy could be a real spark off the bench, and off wavers for a minimum contract he could be a real steal for someone trying to make a big playoff push. He could even start in Toronto and be an upgrade on Derozan this year. Let the young gun continue to develop, but plug Hughes in there for the rest of the year until he does.
Make the call Bryan, worst case if it doesn’t work out you have plenty of time to waive him again before the playoffs start, and you’re no further behind chemistry wise than anyone who made a deadline deal.

  • KB24

The Lakers should pursue him if for the veteran’s minimum, Luke Walton is out for a while @ SF and so is Sasha Vujacic @ SG, I consider Shannon Brown a PG not a SG, so the Lakers only have Adam Morrison @ SF, if we sign him he could split time between PG/SG & SF

  • http://www.stonesthrow.com/madlib Michael NZ

The only team that makes even the slightest bit of sense is the Lakers. So yeah you’re right, uh, KB24.

Sam Joynt: I have no idea why you’d want to bring in Hughes at this point and have him take DeRozans minutes.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Oh please — we don’t need another dude jacking up shots in Toronto. We need dudes with tight D.

  • cholo

    larry hughes is done

  • Ree Roe

No homo @ M Cho. Hopefully the Hawks at least give him a look. We need scoring at the 3

  • SoCalHoopsFan

Plz Lakers, you desperately need PG help, but NOT Larry Hughes!

  • str8 from samoa

plz, enough talk about the lakers!!haha

  • Shem

I heard that marquette was looking for a guard

  • MikeC.

Hughes needs to go play for the OKC ZombieSonics. That team is so young, they need a beard mentor. Right now they only have James Harden rocking a grown-man beard. Larry can sign for the minimum pro-rated, and teach the young guns how to grow grown-men beards. Perfect. I’m a genius. Make it happen Presti. Beard power!!!

  • http://www.another48minutes.com Gerard Himself

Ree Roe: they might need a 3, but I don’t think scoring is a problem when it comes to the Hawks. Also, Hughes at the 3? Nahhhh… You probably like the Hawks, so you also know that Hughes is the solution.

  • MikeC.

Maybe Hughes can sign with the Warriors and be the starting Center that Nellie has been searching for.

  • Exile

Whoever said T.O. should bring this guy in to take Derozan’s minutes is on some pretty good stuff. Probably wants to bring the dream or Zo back to Toronto too…..

  • therighttoremainsalient

time to hit the books!? community college bro..

  • http://sevendeu2u.wordpress.com/ Seven Duece

He’s paid in full, so I don’t feel sorry for him. But just what the hell happened to his game after Washington?!

  • http://qdraylon6@hotmail.com Quinton Waller

The Lakers could use him the most. Their bench players other than lamar and shannon are trash. He can play the point and backup Kobe at SG. Thats the only team he is going to fit in at the moment and fit right into the triangle. He’s not a dumb player, just a bad product of what trash systems he’s played in. This would give Phil the chance to have lineups like he did with the past Lakers and Bulls PG-Harper SG-Jordan SF-Pippen! PG-Hughes SG-Bryant SF-Artest at times and still start Fisher but his legs are running out of time
