There was a time not too long ago — last month, in fact — when the Charlotte Bobcats were beginning to look like a potentially formidable foe. They beat the Cavs a bunch of times, and were poised to put a scare into whatever title contender they met in the first round of the Playoffs.
Now, having lost six of their last ten, including last night’s 24-point beatdown at the hands of the Celtics, the postseason is looking less and less like a certainty for this team. And veteran forward Gerald Wallace doesn’t seem to have much hope for his squad turning things around before it’s too late.

Charlotte Bobcats captain Gerald Wallace sees the season slipping away, and that’s about more than losing five of six or getting thumped Wednesday by the Boston Celtics.
“That was a team,” Wallace said of the Bobcats’ former incarnation, following a 104-80 loss. “This one is just guys out on their own as individuals. Not talking, not communicating on defense.”
And the implications? “Very worried,” Wallace said of the playoff prospects. “Even if we manage to figure this out and some other team slips up, I don’t know what kind of game we’d play. I’m worried if we do (make the playoffs), we’ll get swept.”
The ‘Cats (28-31) currently trail Miami by a game for the final Playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but there’s plenty of time left to right the ship.
Larry Brown might want to think about never allowing Gerald Wallace to deliver any kind of “motivational” speeches to the team. The dude can be a bit of a downer.
