Paul Pierce and the Celtics Hearing Boos

by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni

Paul Pierce has played on some pretty awful Celtics teams in his career, teams that were used to hearing the boo birds from their own crowd. Last night, during a 20-point drubbing at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, those terrible memories came flooding back into Paul’s mind.

The Boston faithful were less than pleased with the team’s effort, and considering the season-long frustration with everything that’s happened to the Celtics, it was not surprising to hear the frustration being voiced.

The Boston Globe captured Pierce’s reaction to the crowd’s hostility:

“Yeah it surprises me,” said Pierce. “You come out on your home court, get this kind of loss, and get booed by your home court I haven’t been on a court where we’ve been booed … it’s been a couple times this year.

It’s been about five or six years since I’ve seen that. We’re still 17 games over .500. All the fans want is a constant effort night in and night out. I think we gotta be more consistent with that regardless of if we win or lose.”

Head coach Doc Rivers believes, that despite his preference not to do so, it may finally be time to make changes with his rotations. Exactly what those changes are, remains to be seen.

The C’s are currently tied with Atlanta in the Eastern Conference Playoff race for third place, but newcomer Rasheed Wallace isn’t quite ready to sound the alarm yet. He’s seen a lot worse during his time in the League. Not exactly the most hopeful message, but it’s better than outright panic.

It was funny, everyone who hated the Lakers was all about Ariza this and Ariza that, so good, Lakers need to keep him … how is that going now?

James, I’m a fellow laker fan, and I’m telling you straight up I will trade three ron artests and a half-eaten lamar-chloe sandwich for trevor ariza to suit back up his purple and golds. Dude was clutch on both ends of the floor, and consistently. Him shannon and kobe and a bunch of scrubs would have LA winning more convincingly again.

If Rajon Rondo is the team’s “best” player, then the Boston Celtics are in trouble.

I meant “K”hloe. And I don’t know why I wrote that, it doesn’t make a lick of sense. In fact it sounds disgusting. I wouldn’t feed that to a malnutritioned homeless santa dying of AIDS. But my argument of ariza being better than ronron for LA stands.

@Th3_R3al_Chris: Exactly! Thing is this team gave control to Rondo too fast. Too much power in Rondo’s hand he should have stayed the way he was in 08

We all know the Celts are old, and it shows at times when they play some of those young gun teams. In a 7 game series, I believe the Celts will hang with anyone. Rondo will need to muster up a few (“messed around and got a triple double” games) No need to worry yet. I can forsee them getting whooped in a 7th game, due to their age, injuries, and fatigue though.

If you think that the celtics are just waltz into the playoffs and just “turn it on” you are sadly mistaken. This is just jargon for ” Were old and we can’t play at a high level constantly, so well just say we are bumming it until the big dance comes along”. If they pass the first round, they like someone said early well limp past the second round.

I’m with my C’s no matter what! I was down before & during the Bird era. I loved them after that era when things were really bad and when we won it a couple of years ago when we won. Always GREEN! no front running or back sliding here.
