Should Eddie Jordan Get Fired?

With the local media starting to call for his head, this is a question the front office will need to soon answer: “And sometimes you should pack your bags in advance of being told to leave town. It’s just good planning, and it saves everyone a lot of time. The Sixers (currently 22-38; good seats still available) inexplicably decided before the trade deadline that their underachieving roster is super swell and would be left alone. That decision has worked out about as well as the others before it: signing Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand to long-term deals, bringing Allen Iverson back to Philly, trading for Jason Kapono, etc. Assuming Stefanski doesn’t get fired himself (and that’s a big assumption, but one column topic at a time), he ought to do the right thing for once and put Jordan out of his misery when the season ends. If not for Jordan’s sanity, then for ours.”

i feel as though he should be demoted or replaced..the way he has been running the sixers&down talking andre is out of line not just for a coach but a role model as well..its bad when you can see the drive&potential of iguodala&others but eddie makes a mockery of it if things dont go well..andre &williams want to win..point blank simple..they truly want to win&until they get the perfect role model who will continue to cheer them on win or lose..there is no need for them to play their potential..where is byron scott?? i wonde rif he will be a great coach for them..he has been on both sides and he can truly do wonders for the team

Man, what’s wrong with these Sixers? One year they’re an exciting playoffs team making the Eastern Champs sweat blood to get past the first round and the next year they crumble apart.

  • TyMo

People need to stop blaming Eddie Jordan for stuff that’s not his fault. Same thing happened with Washington.

  • Hussman25

He and dumbfanski should have been fired YESTERDAY!

  • Jack Knife

A coaching change usually only results in a 5 win differential. If Phil Jackson can’t get credit for his chapionships, then coaches shouldn’t get blamed for losing.

In a word, yes…Last quarter of the season and he still hasn’t even established a rotation.

  • JoeMaMa

Andre Miller…I truly believe he made a big difference. Took ball pressure off Iggy, controlled the pace, found Thad Young for easy buckets, and made the smart play. Lou also benefitted by coming in and quickening the pace, throwing the other team’s D off their rhythm and letting the young 76ers run.
Lack of a proven point guard was a big question mark at the start of the season(lou? jrue?), and it’s proven to seriously hurt them.
I’d for giving Eddie another training camp, but if it’s really that poisonous, time for a change. Too bad…he’s a good coach.

  • neaorin

Probably, but their roster issues are 10x bigger.

  • Fat Lever

It doesn’t really matter about the roster at this point. Jordan has lost this team, it’s obvious to anyone who watches them(although I’ll admit since the trading deadline, I’ve made it a point not to watch them, I can’t stomach it anymore). Jordan has started blaming the players for their recent slide, and in turn, the players have responded indifferently, which might be more damning than actually saying something contradictory to Jordan.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

neaorim, while youre right, that roster is better than 22-38 even without Dre Miller, witch made them a 0.500 ball club

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

and why the fuc k you give a coach a 4 year contract when his sistem isnt stifning DEFENSE and RUN! we all know thats the only? way this team works!

  • http://www.teflinprague.com SAB

Stefanski needs to go first, but this team is horrible to watch…

  • kev

yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! he should! one of the worst coaches ever for my sixers and there have been quite a few

  • http://www.sixers.com 360

TyMo, please leave the building and come back when you’ve seen the L standings and our roster. Regardless, the biggest issue is the mgmt. The same tools who put EJ in a position where his style is a polar opposite to how Sixers should be ballin. The same mgmt who give massive, lengthy contracts to players and then try and shop them around on the sneak (Sammy, Elton, Iggy). The same mgmt who traded the best D player on our team, Reggie Evans, for a 3pt threat who doesn’t even like to just on the arc and sink buckets, let alone do anything else. The same mgmt who wouldnt pay one of the most experienced PGs in the L a fair contract leaving the team to go rudderless and have a complete lack of direction. EJ is just trapped in the mess they’ve created, but he still needs to go as well and is still certainly liable for blame; he either doesn’t have the balls to counter the mgmt’s views or he thinks they’re working.

  • scompson

sixers had their guys and still could. im talking about larry brown (whos still coaching) and pat croce (who helped put together the finals team). sad thing was pat croce rather ride a f**got motorcycle than be apart on an nba team which he was actually good at. if those guys were still around allen iverson would still be productive for the sixers. igoudala and lou would be monsters. honestly, i think they should make aaron mckie the coach (member of the 2001 finals team) but f**got stefanski rahter have mckie 8 rows away from the bench. and bringing guys in with the name ed, sets yourself up for failure.

  • Fat Lever

Scompson, do you know what actually happened with Croce and the Sixers? He tried to increase his role in the organization and Snider wasn’t having it. Snider was probably scared of the fact that Croce was gunning for total ownership at some point, and decided to force Croce out. So he didn’t actually choose to “ride a fa**got motorcycle than be apart on an nba team”.

  • Hussman25

@Fat: He (Croche) wanted full/total control… What’s even more interesting is that I never knew Snyder actually has his residence in California not Philly (just read that somewhere on Philly.com). Y the owner of the Sixers and Flyers lives out of the area his teams boggles my mind… Pat has got to be on a mountain climb listening to a DNL podcast Laughin his @zz off!

  • The Philosopher

With Eddie Jordan, when things go wrong, he’ll sell his guys out. A lot of guys do that. You don’t want to see a guy lose his job at the end of the day, though. And Iguodala, since he signed the deal, hasn’t quite been that “guy”. Hasn’t been that franchise guy.

  • thalilbigkahuna

    Yes.

  • illadelph

As someone who has watched nearly all the sixer’s games this season…YES! Firing Jordan is step one in correcting this mess of team.

  • http://slamonline.com JL

when has messing with the rotations every game ever worked? see the kings? they don’t know who they are either. the sixers don’t really have a SG. Iggy is more a SF. But if you fit him along with lou, thad young, brand, and dalembert, that’s a good starting five. Then bring Speights off the bench to get 30 minutes with brand and dalembert for the big men rotations. Stop starting the underperforming rookie!

  • nastierthanu

As an east coast baller. Its a shame to see NY,NJ,philly putting a poor product on the floor. Sixers shouldve traded iggy to get some fresh blood in the line up. Elton brand is not a superstar those cats are expendable. If the car doesn’t run right time for new parts

  • B

They should get rid of everyone in the organization, except my girl Jaime Maggio, she’s the only reason I watch the Sixers anymore.

Hell no!!! Mike D gets to keep his gig going into the free agent frenzy!!! I say make some summer moves and give them both the absolute last chance!!!

    yes.

  • http://nationalhighway.blogspot.com jaywalker

Philly is trying to sell more jerseys than win some metal..thats their problem..signing AI was more of a business deal for the franchise than a push to the playoffs…Iggy needs some supporting cast around him ..maybe that will happen next season…

  • therighttoremainsalient

It’s time to reinvent the wheel in Philly.

  • Fat Lever

Jaywalker, Iggy should be part of someone’s supporting cast, not other guys deferring to him.
