Kevin Garnett Fined $25k for Ref Critique

Not sure what prompted the fine from the League office more: the blasting of the refs, or the sullying of MJ`s name. Probably a little bit of both: “As expected the NBA stepped in and fined Kevin Garnett for his post-game statements following Wednesday’s 109-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Garnett told reporters after the game, ‘I thought we were playing Michael (bleeping) Jordan tonight the way he was getting the whistle, Durant damn near shot more free throws than our whole team.”’

    When once-good players go bad. The reason your team only got 17 foul shots is because you settled for jumpshots instead of going strong to the hole. Which is exactly why they got so many. That and your team being old and slow and reaching for the ball all the time. Toughen up and quit whining because your team is still one-and-done.

    I completely agree with you, Earl. Fining players for complaining about refs is blatant censorship…if players know they’re gettin fined 25k and they still voice their opinions, the real problem has got to be the refs.

    KG is a punk and the NBA knows it, he talks smack, to small point guards barks at them and runs from real players. Everybody hates the dark coco looking bum. I love this decline, because he went to the wrong team and now they are one and done, mainly becuase he has fell off the wagon Maybe Al Jefferson was better to have now. Because he got a title lucky that year after two final seven games and his Celtics team will not be remember. BUM, we all hate you KG, please read this PLEASE!!

    Garnett makes 16 mill this year. After taxes, agent, bookie he probably takes home a third of that. Which is 5.3 mill. Keep slapping on those 25k fines and it takes it’s toll. You guys didn’t actually think Kobe takes home the full 30 mill per season?

    what the hell is wrong with sternbot? seriously, think about this for a minute, Washington DC’s legal system fined Gilbert Arenas $5000 for a felony gun charge, and Stern fines his players $25,000 for criticizing the refs. imagine if stern was dictator of this country

    People like to h@te on KG now, but really, he hasn’t changed THAT much. The NBA is now at the point where Stern can sit back and collect bank on the league’s new, squeaky clean image. So players like KG who would have been loved in the 90′s are now seen as hooligans, or the like. A lot of these guys aren’t that bad off the court, but on the court it takes a team of mean mofos to win.

    never understood why people make fun of a team for being “one and done.” a championship, even if not followed by another, is a huge achievement. period. i bet malone, stockton, barkley, and reggie would’ve loved to have been one one and done teams.

    @the seed: you really think the celtics got lucky when they won the title? do you think any team has ever won a championship out of luck? yeah, hawks and cavs gave them a tough time, but they ultimately won those series, and they flat out EMBARASSED the lakers. give me a break.

    My only problem with KG, is that his game took a step back, but his mouth didn’t. When he was putting up 25 and 13 every damn night in the Western, I accepted his demeanour, because he was untouchable, and worked his @ss off every night, and you gotta respect that. Now, he’s talking a too much compared to his game. I mean, just look at Sheed, he still has his moments in green, but he is close to the end of the road, and he talks a lot less, than back in the day. You gotta know when it’s your time, and you gotta admit when these times are over.

    $25k was the bare minimun that should have been enforced. Sports are getting way way to ghetto…It makes me sick. I’m glad to see that there are still efforts to keep a level of class in sports today.

    Hay seed, don’t run w/ the popular stream of disdain for a player..It’s funny how fans seem to remember KG barking at Calderon (who barked back) and claim he only goes after pg’s and lesser players in the L. None of you will acknowledge or remember that KG was doing a lot of barking and L James today. (Last I saw LBJ was a “real” player) As far as the one and done lucky title, come on man…Why do you think it’s so celebrated when a team repeats? Hello, because it’s NOT the norm. I can respect a fan who spits venom who actually knows the game and how it’s played. He hit the big FT’s and the King didn’t..LBJ is still one of the top 2 or 3 players alive though.

    The NBA’s statement should’ve been “Mr Garnett was incorrect in his assumption, we had a whole different level of bias for Michael Jordan. We will now afford this same bias to the Celtics first round opponent. Oh, and go Cavs”. Just for the lols
