Doc Rivers Calls Out Rasheed Wallace

If ‘Sheed was the type of guy who cared, this would probably motivate him heading into Game 2 of the Cavs series tonight. Alas, he is who he is. From WEEI: “Rasheed Wallace has said all season that the playoffs are what motivates him, but after a disastrous regular season, the playoffs have been pretty much the same story for the Celtics prized free agent acquisition. Wallace picked up three quick fouls in the first half and went 1-for-5 in 13 minutes of Game 1 against the Cavaliers. He was also a liability again on the defensive end where his rotations were slow and his help defense was lacking. ‘He has to play better, bottom line,’ Doc Rivers said Sunday. ‘He has to play better defense. The offense will come but he has to be a better defender. We can’t wait. He has to play better.”’

hopefully this motivates sheed. you know what sucks? he is really, really really talented. he has so many post moves that nobody can stop, he’s a good mid range shooter, and when he cares, he can play very good defense. i’d take a motivated sheed to guard pau or dwight any day. the trouble is, talent is all he has. no hustle, no energy, and a high basketball IQ that he chooses to use only sparingly. come on sheed. play like we all know you can.

An induced guaransheed might work. KG should come out and predict a Game 2 victory and a double double for Sheed. If that doesn’t do the trick, nothing will.

Can’t believe that nba teams this summer where slappin’ each other just to sign him.
Btw I agree that when motivated he is second only to timmy d on 1-1 defense

Sheed really does need a wake up call but at this stage of the season it’s a lost cause. Please trade the guy this summer!

To piggy – back off of letsmotor, In Wallace’s prime, he could have been a perrenial all star. His talent was hall of fame material. Top 5 – 10 power fowards of all time if he wanted it. He never had the motor.

Bench him. If he hasn’t gotten it to this point, will he at all this season? Seems like Doc is shook of the potential blow up that could occur with Sheed, even when he calls him out, it’s not exactly incendiary.

He is an irrelevant player. Stop talking about him like he still wants to play. He is a shell of his former self. Rosco Wallace should ride the pine.

if i were doc, i’d play shelden williams over sheed in a second. i’ll take more effort with less talent over next to no effort with far more talent any day. the tough thing is that when perk needs to sit, sheed is their only back up center, unless you sub in big baby or shelden to play the pf and move KG to center. ugh. damnit, sheed.

He could have been great, but in hindsight, he is nothing more than Derrick Coleman with a championship ring. And sure, he made the all-star team when he played for Detroit, but he hasn’t put up real all-star numbers since his days in Portland.

    1) A little late for calling him out. I remember early in the season Doc was the one saying how Sheed was doing fine and to take as many shots as he wants cause they’ll end up falling eventually.
    2) Maybe you need a little more KG screaming in yo’ face to wake him up.

Sheed is the very definition of fat and lazy.

Really he calls out Sheed? Already in this early stage of the season? Anyway I agree Sheed had all the talent in the world, and he’s a really high basketball IQ, but he is way too slow to keep up with the pace.

Honestly I think Sheed is way past his prime physically and mentally he checked out long before he left Detroit.

  • BostonBaller

Yes, Sheed has been a bust so far but did you see the moves in game 1? He made 2 superior moves and both went in and out. (no lift left?) Once he got a couple of fouls he was done…I think he plays better with playing time, he is def not a spot player but we can’t afford to play him for long stretches. The fellas need to pull out their rings and ask if he wants to add another one to his career then write $$$ signs on the board and tell him he could make some serious loot AGAIN this Summer with a “half decent” playoff effort. $$ talks.

i have always loved sheed, but i have to wonder if the C’s are going to get more from a younger, more athletic, less talented player at this point. are we going to keep wondering if sheed will ever reach his potential even after he’s retired? because we’ve been wondering for a very, very long time now.

Nobody’s going to touch that contract until it becomes expiring next summer. Man, him and JR Rider.. what could have been on that Blazers roster…

  • KulchaKris

3.5pts and 2 rebounds per game. Enough said.

  • coggie13

    bet they miss leon now

well as someone used to watching sheed in detroit i can tell you, sheed doesnt really like basketball anymore. Plus you really cant look at him as anything other than a little kid, thats how you should view him. He has said his favorite coach is larry brown because he was tough on him. No amount of niceness is going to motivate sheed, you simply have to demand what you want. He will hate you at first but after its all said and done he will respect you. Sheed’s biggest weakness is he’s not mentally tough in some areas. Plus he has issues with the NBA game but he lets the small distractions overtake his ultimate goal of winning a championship

Sheed didn’t do nothing because he old, that usally happens when u play in the NBA for 15 years and hang around the confrence finals almost every year, just look at Tim Duncan or KG

  • BostonBaller

    ^ ^What???

  • BostonBaller

So far so good in game 2 EXCEPT the FOULS AGAIN…they’re killing me with those and the TO’s

  • JesusShuttlesWorth20

^^ yeah.. Sheed has answered doc lol.. he is ballin

  • JesusShuttlesWorth20

Now lets get the dub in boston…. almost blew the lead towards the end.

  • BostonBaller

Sheed was instrumental in this win. I do credit Cleveland for not harping on the elbow but the announcers wouldn’t shut up at the start until LBJ got rolling..then at the end they started again. Dang, if we could have held on in game 1…oh well let’s get to game 3 w/out the lapses.

  • Shem

About time, I defended Sheed’ all season saying he’s a vet who’s been signed to bring it for the playoffs.. He wasn’t half as impressive as I thought he’d be in the 1st round

  • clos1881

Mo Williams aka No Show Williams is a bum. Reggie Miller stop making excuses about Lebrons elbow!!

  • JesusShuttlesWorth20

^ Co-sign on the mo comment… I’ve been saying that for the longest.

  • JoeMaMa

It’s safe to say that Rasheed just shut y’all the f*ck UP!
