Hedo Turkoglu Wants Out Of Toronto

Other than that massive contact he signed last summer, you can’t really blame him: “‘When the circumstances turned against me, I lost my enthusiasm for this city,” Turkoglu said. “My lawyers have talked to the front office recently. Honestly, I do not want to go back to Toronto. My lawyers talked to [Bryan] Colangelo and I hope that they will come up with a solution soon. ‘During this process, I talked to Jay Triano several times. I promised him that whether he starts me or not, I will do my best on the court. However, if I had a more temperamental personality, I would have left the team. Yet, I did exactly the opposite. I did my best.’”

    Whatta prick.

I’m pretty sure that after his terrible season, Toronto also wants out of Hedo Turkoglu. Welcome to the midlevel exception, Turk?

  • Will Lee

typical fit for one system situation. He needs the ball in his hand system

What a lil’b*tch!! But this isn’t news everyone and they mamas knew he was going to b*tch out like a lil’b*tch!

  • http://thekobebeef.wordpress.com LDR4

This is yet another resounding vote of no confidence to what Bryan Colangelo is doing in Toronto.

  • From out of Nowhere

Maybe you should have signed with the Blazers instead… wait, no. Portland is glad you didn’t.

Maybe the Raps can help the Wizards dump Arenas if they can’t get Bosh back. Send Hedo and some other guys to DC and get the rebuilding started.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Why is everyone bashing Hedo, Bosh doesn’t even want to stay in Toronto, even Vince wanted out, Tracy wanted out. Toronto will never do anything in the NBA, so why waste his years in Canada losing. Hedo should have taken less money to play with Magic, now he will lose money and will be seen as a quitter like the teammate who replaced him on the Magic. I can’t blame Hedo for wanting out, many before him did and Bosh does now. BOOK IT!!!

  • bnets

    Trade for VC hahah

  • Dagger

So this is how Hedo repays a massive, 10 million dollar contract? Quits on the season, then quits on the team by talking to the media about leaving and driving down his trade value? Maybe he should realize that he was never a very good basketball player, that he was given the best of all worlds with a huge contract in a great city. This guy represents the very worst of the NBA, but if a trade can be arranged at least Toronto will be glad to have him gone.

  • Hersey

How are people figuring Hedo is gonna lose money? He signed a contract that he’ll honor as will the team. He’ll need to shut his mouth and play if they don’t trade him. He might be a useful asset in a sign and trade if they blow if up.

  • LA Huey

Why don’t you agree to void your contract? Nobody wants your over-the-hill game knowing how much they’d still have to pay you. Then go play somewhere for a couple million above the veterans minimum.

  • rav

if he wants out so badly just rip up your contract and walk away without them paying you any more

oh, and he did his best, wtf???

  • http://nicekicks.com meloman2.0

Umm, News flash Hedo… WE DIDN”T WANT U FIRST!!!
Co-sign Dagger, this man represents everything wrong with pro sports

  • iheartcoffee

    Spot on Dagger, spot on.

  • RedRum

I think I actually agree with Hedo on this one.. you hire him for his playmaking, creating impossible mis-matches being a 6-10 player with serious shooting and handling skills. Then what do the Raps do? make him a spot up shooter. sorry, but this is ridiculous

  • AL29

He forgot to mention that he was still out of shape towards the end of the season, and that sometimes on the defensive end he was seen leaning over, gasping for air, with his hands on his sides. The press here tore him apart for his lack of conditioning. Hopefully the Raps don’t end up sending him to Orlando for Rashard Lewis, or taking on any other undesirable contracts. Voiding his contract would be a great way for the Raps to get a fresh start with that money. I only wish Bargniani and Calderon would follow Turk’s lead.

  • The Philosopher

I always likened Hedo Tukoglu to Detlef Shrempf, and he is looking more and more like him by the day.

  • jose

“He forgot to mention that he was still out of shape towards the end of the season, and that sometimes on the defensive end he was seen leaning over, gasping for air, with his hands on his sides”

All that pre-game pizza caught up to him

  • Sparker

who’d take him? seriously, dude, you’re making trade demands when your market value is at an all-time low? the only plus – and i mean the ONLY plus – is that vc did not put orlando over the top and looked underwhelming in the playoffs. but”trade me” when bosh is obviously leaving and he’d have a chance to run the show? this guy is too much.

  • Yesse

I saw this one coming last summer. Should have stayed in Orlando.

  • Shem

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Did he just say he gave his best? He was the guy that was laughing on the bench during a tough loss, he was the guy that ate pizza before games (no it’s not just the commercial), he was the guy who said his MAIN goal was to make th ALL STAR TEAM rather then the NBA Finals? There’s a reason why you got benched turk. It’s because you cry about small injuries that are jokes to guys like Kobe, and because he walked up the court as if it was a practice. The only reason he’s still here is noone wants his contract. I hate Turk so much. He wasn’t good on Sacramento, he’s not good in Toronto. The only reason he was good in Orlando is because that system WAS turkoglu. 3 shooters who don’t need the ball to score and a big man that plays D and grabs alleys. When it’s all said and done, he won’t be considered a good player because he needs everything to be perfect to play well. Get this f*ckin guy outta here!

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

I had hope for Turk when he was signed, but then I went to games and watched him disappear for entire games. It wasn’t just the system here, Turk was just unmotivated and his body language showed it. When your “best” is often a 2 point night, you don’t get to dictate squat to the front office.

  • http://www.realcavsfans.com Anton

Hedo and Bosh for Mo Williams, Jamison, JJ Hickson, and draft picks.
    Do it Ferry!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Are you kidding? This is GREAT news! Hedo Turkoglu really was at his best… When he went to the f*cking clubs at night right after missing entire games due to “the flu.” That was really giving it his all, wasn’t it?
He was given ample opportunity to produce and he did nothing. Absolutely nothing.
And he needs to stop complaining about not getting the ball in his hands. Why the hell would the Raptors want HIM, a 6’10 SMALL FORWARD to run the point when they already have a REAL point guard in Jarret Jack?
How about learning to play your position?

  • bnets

Hedo for da D-League team of da Warriors then da Warriors to send Hedo to da D-League. And maybe then Hedo can make da D-League All-Star Team and win a Championship then sent back to Turkey

  • jedi420

This dude is pathetic for real, whatever team you cheer for this is the kind of player you want to avoid.

  • Blair Parsons

We want you out of Toronto too, Hedo. Not that I think you should have been benched, or that Jay Triano has the faintest idea what he’s doing as an NBA head coach. But you sucked this year, and we don’t have much faith that things are going to improve.

  • D12FSU

  • TC

Send him to Cleveland, bring ‘Bron to Toronto to play with Bosh. Everybody wins.

  • kh

    speechless. goodbye Hedick

  • Vince5

Really? (At least, I will always remember “ball”)

  • Josh

I thought he choose Toronto because of his family and now because he sucks he wants out. He is a good complimentary player but really isn’t a great player by any stretch. Something about Toronto just rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Great city in a lot of ways and have had a lot of fun there but just something makes me happy to leave.

  • http://slamonline.com niQ

What a Douche. That is all.

  • rashado

someone please tell me that he’s not going to get paid the entirety of his contract…he can’t just give up like this and expect to be paid can he?

he should be kicked out of the nba for this (*&^

  • Toni Kukoc

    Hedo = VC

  • Commoncents

People keep saying everyone wants out of Toronto (ie. The Seed)… as if it’s some awful wasteland of a city. How quickly people forget that Vince Carter resigned with the Raptors during free agency (only to do what he always does and quit on every city he has ever played in. See New Jersey/Brooklyn and Orlando his hometown). Bosh resigned with Toronto for the exact same contract as Wade and LeBron. Bosh may even resign with Toronto, I don’t understand why people just assume he’s leaving. Finally McGrady left Toronto because he wanted to be the man (and Vince was already there) strictly and ego thing.

Toronto is a SICK city… amazing nightlife, great events. The players love the lifestyle… the only thing that sucks for them is no ESPN or exposure in the US where most of there family and friends live.

  • Brickshooting J

The Portland Trailblazers must feel relieved that the Raptors took this bum out of their hands.

  • http://joeloholic.wordpress.com Joel O’s

I don’t think the Toronto fanbase is that much different from any American one. Honestly, between our city’s sports franchises, we can deal with losing (a lot). What we can’t deal with is when our players don’t give a sh*t. Play hard, regardless of your ability, and the fans will revere you (JYD? Oak? Alvin Williams? Bonner, even). I don’t know if the partying incident was the team screwing him over, but Hedo was really unprofessional this season, from day one to until the end.

  • Josh

rashado you are a dumbass. Turk is a good player, the Raptors just didn’t know how to use him, like most of their players. It is ridiculous to have this guy coming off the bench with the roster they have. Triano just did not know how to use Turk correctly, and it is his fault that a fairly talented Raptors team did not make the playoffs and will now most likely lose their two best players.

  • MikeC.

If Hedo gets in shape, he’d be a great fit in D’Antoni’s system in NY. Ball-handling big man who can pass and stretch the floor. If he has back fat and C-cups, T.O. can keep him.

  • ClydeSays

Sorry, Hedo. You chased the money, then stunk it up on the couture. If I’m Colangelo, I telll you to shut up and play or sit on the bench and be quiet.

  • http://emmanuel_franco1@hotmail.com Manny

Hedo I remember when you used to play in sacramento and came off the bench, then signed in orlando and in youre last year had a prettygood playoff run. You where offered a great contract and this is what you do drink in bars and talk bullSht about youre organization U suck. If you had patience you could have been part of a better orlando team and maybe contribute to win a championship over the future years, but losers dont win championships.

  • Anthony

Trade him for a bag of chips. Thats what he’s worth and we actually benefit from him not playing for Toronto.

  • turkeysucks

typical turkish bastard, hated him from the start

I know im a little late on this but get that turkish a$$hole outta here…Im from toronto, I can agree with some comments regarding triano as things were a little here n there. Hedo showed me all season that he was in it for himself..Only 2 games did I see him play with some heart and some intensity..the rest of the season he was playing like some kinda wallstreet fat cat..just abusing the system and money he recieved and not putting anything forth. I am in the entertainment industry and a lot of people i know that own and run clubs downtown always said “hedo was here last night, 2 bottles of goose and in his corner”…turk was never really a good player to begin with…he was always a bench player and for some reason he had 1 good season in orlando and now he’s a superstar….GET DAT F*&% outta toronto..the goons are lookin for u…he’s a waste and will never get a ring unless he pull’s a adam morrison..it was a bad move from jump st..now we got a lot more to worry about…it’s all about rebuilding here…and im not impressed…just to let a lot of u american’s know by the way…we are the 5th largest city in north america…players will always have their prefrence’s..but things soon change..we gonna be alright..
