Kevin Garnett Not Worried About Celtics Collapsing

KG was asked about the Celtics facing a similar fate to their hockey-playing friends in Beantown, and quickly shot down the notion. From the Orlando Sentinel: “The Boston Celtics don’t sound all that worried about becoming the first team in NBA history to lose a best-of-seven series after winning the first three games. But they’re also saying they won’t let up against the Orlando Magic. Kevin Garnett was asked before his team’s practice today if the Boston Bruins’ recent experience in the NHL playoffs serves as “a cautionary tale” for the Celtics. Earlier this month, the Bruins won the first three games in the Eastern Conference semifinals but lost the series to the Philadelphia Flyers. ‘This is not hockey, so I’m not even looking at that,’ Garnett said. ‘The Bruins are not the Celtics. The Celtics are not the Bruins. Apples and oranges.”’

I don’t want it to happen to the Celtics (and it won’t) but it’d be awesome to see a team come back from 0-3 SOMETIME in my lifetime.

That is THE dumbest question a reporter could’ve asked him.

It’s their job to ask dumb questions. Seriously though, at this point, what is new to be asked? Thats why dudes like Popavich and Phil Jackson get so smartazz with the media. “Pop, you’re team is down 0-3, how do you inspire them to come back?” What kind of question is that?

Nobody is pointing to the obvious, but trading Rafer Alston was a bad mistake. No question, Jameer Nelson is a solid point guard, but he doesn’t do anything spectacular, and Rafer played much better in last years playoffs.

I think more than Turkuglo, Alston was the key piece on that 2009 Finals team. I’m almost sure that the Magic are going to clean house this off season. Bringing in Vince Carter didn’t make the team better. When has Vince ever made the players around him better?

I’d get rid of Van Gundy, Rashard Lewis, Jameer Nelson, and Vince Carter if I was the Owner of the Magic.

He was right, we did not collapse but we did have too many lapses, especially in OT. Congrats to The Magic in not laying down and dying. I think Howard has been exposed for sneaky shots on people. His nice guy persona allows him to get away with looking innocent when getting in the extra shot on an opponent. About time he got physical but it’s the way he does it. I know, I know, stop complaining…I’m not complaining about the hardness of his shots just that he rarely gets called out on his. Again, Congrats on not choking tonight and growing a pair in this series. Dang P Double, you’ve gone all playoffs without one of those whacky dribble turnovers until tonight. lol. Good game to watch. PS. With 4 fouls you have to drive it hard at Howard, not flip shots.

Jahi- Wow. That made my day. You are hilarious. Rafer Alston? Look at what Jameer Nelson has been doing thus far in the Playoffs, he is a top level PG. The current incarantion of Rondo would be destroying Skip even worse. The reason that the Magic are going down in a ball of flame is mostly Rashard Lewis, and killer D by the C’s. Turkoglu’s contribution last year has been overlooked as well, cause he hasn’t fit in in Toronto.

If Rafer Alston was still w/the Magic, they sweep my Celtics. For rilla.

  • james

yea i think it will go to six games, magic have got a bit of momentum back, dont think my celtics will be able to close it out in orlando they’ll have to wait to go back to boston.
alston would definitely have made a difference, williams is a complete no factor in this, carter for turk trade has also made them tonnes worse off.
