Manute Bol Dies at 47

RIP to Bol, who at 7-7, was one of the League’s tallest players: “Manute Bol, who became a basketball sensation in the 1980s as a skeletally thin shot-blocking giant with the Washington Bullets and other professional teams, and who devoted his post-basketball life to improving the lot of his fellow natives of Sudan, died June 19 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was 47.”

Tried so hard to bring peace to his native Sudan. RIP Manute.

What is sad as that this man spent every dime he had to try and help in the Sudan and I can’t remember ever seeing him on an NBA cares commercial. Some “superstars” hammer a few nails at a habitat home or pass out some turkeys around Thanksgiving and we have a half time special report. This man was a true humanitarian. God Bless him for what he did.

Reading about his contributions off the court for his people in Sudan is an amazing example of generosity and selflessness. He lived a hard life and it’s very sad to hear this. This was a man who will live on through the incalculable impact he made on the lives he helped. R.I.P. Manute

Never has a public figure influenced me more for giving back than Manute Bol. He lived in run down apartments and scrapped for every penny to ensure one last person didn’t die. He was meek and honest, and gave everything he had to help those he could. This world was better for his example, we are better when we follow it.

Every now and then I think about my own death and my own funeral but I don’t thinkof it in a morbid sense. Every now and then I think about when I meet my day I don’t want a long funeral and if u get somebody to read the eulogy tell them not to talk to loud. Tell them not to mention my nobel peace prize that aint important. Tell them not to mention my 3 or 400 other awards that’s not important tell them not to mention where I went to school. I want somebody to say that day that martin luther king tried to give his life serving others. I want somebody to say that martin luther king tried to love somebody. I want u to say on that day that I did try to feed the hungry. I want u to say on that day that I did try in my life to clothe those who were naked. I want u to say on that I did try in my life to visit those who were in prison. I want u to say that I tried to love and serve humanity. Yes if u want to say that I was a drum major say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace I was a drum major for righteousness. I won’t have any money to leave behind. I won’t have the fine and luxorious things in life to leave behind I just want to leave a committed life behing that’s all I can say -MLK. Manute can say that he’s done all that the great dr.king wanted out of his life and is remembered not for his game but his character. He does rest in peace

Rest In Peace, and may you live on in the divine glory of Heaven. Thoughts and Prayers with Manute and his family.
