NBA Finals: Game 6 Live Blog

Lakers force a Game 7 in the NBA Finals

by Marcel Mutoni / @marcel_mutoni

Hey, everyone. I’m the sole representative for SLAM in L.A. tonight; Lang had business to tend to in NYC, but I’m told he’ll be manning the Twitter feed for us. So be sure to check that out.

There’s obviously a lot at stake tonight, for both teams. There are legacies to iron out, a championship to defend, one to win back, and all types of other dramatic material to work with. Stick with us here and we’ll try and get it all sorted out, or at the very least, narrate it as it happens. Should be a great game. Let’s go!

Pregame notes:

-In the Celtics’ locker room, there was a spread of peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches, which I’m told was inspired by Kevin Garnett. KG and Michael Finley each grabbed a handful.

-Doc Rivers, as usual, was exceptional when dealing with the press. He joked around with reporters, called many of them by name, and seemed very at ease with himself and the team heading into tonight’s game.

-Phil Jackson was equally relaxed, telling us that he liked the mood from his team. Jackson also added that it’s critical the Lakers take both Garnett and Paul Pierce out of their comfort zones tonight.

-Jackson stressed that L.A. can’t become over-reliant on Kobe — get him the ball if/when he’s hot, but don’t get caught simply watching him.

First Quarter:

-Christina Aguilera just got through singing the national anthem. She did a fine, if overwrought job. Made even more impressive by the fact that her warmup routine consisted of her walking around the court for a few seconds and then belting out a couple of notes. Talent!

-Crowd here inside Staples is really loud. Not Boston-loud, but loud.

-Kobe bricks the game’s first shot, and KG streaks down the court for an open layup. Kobe then responds with a drive to the hoop for his own open layup. Tied early.

-Following a Rondo floater, the Lakers finally get the ball in the post, where Bynum flips it in over the Celtics defense. Ray Allen then knocks in a jumper to retake the lead for Boston.

-Ron Artest’s three from the baseline and Derek Fisher’s breakaway layup off the steal five the Lakers a 9-6 lead. Loud “De-FENSE!” chants from the Staples faithful.

-Ray Allen gets behind Fisher’s defense and lays it, plus the foul from Fish. Ray then calmly sinks the freebie. Tied at 9 with 8 minutes to go in the opening quarter.

-Speaking of Allen, he just hit his first three since Game 2. He likes this gym, it seems.

-Huge block from Gasol on Perkins, followed up by a Kobe layup. LA up 14-12. Early foul trouble for Fisher, as he exits with two quick fouls in the early going.

-Kobe has come out firing — he has 8 early points — and Pau looks to be alive as well, after finishing the fastbreak with the tough layup. Lakers up 18-12. And we have our first timeout of the game.

-L.A. is dominating the battle on the boards so far (7 -3). Key thing to remember: whatever team won the rebounding fight has won each game in the series to date.

-Kendrick Perkins was carried off the floor, and into the Celtics’ locker room after landing awkwardly on his leg. Tough blow for Boston; Rasheed Wallace replaces him in the lineup.

-Kobe, meanwhile, continues the hot shooting with a three pointer. He has 11 of the Lakers’ 21 points. But Kevin Garnett responds with his second straight hoop. Celtics down five.

-Ron Artest is taking and (miraculously) hitting shots so far tonight. Eight points for Artest on 3-5 shooting. Not sure that was on anyone’s scouting report. Though, to be fair, he was hitting a lot of them in the pregame warmups.

-Pierce, Ron’s nemesis, knocks in a spinning jumper to trim LA’s lead down to 8. Lakers dominating early. 26 – 18 as we head into another timeout.

-Laker defense creates yet another Celtic turnover, which is then rewarded by a Gasol turnaround over ‘Sheed. Lead back up to 10.

-Celtics fail to get off a shot as the first quarter ends. L.A. has a 28-18 lead, and is off to the start every Laker fan had hoped for. Still no word on Perkins’ condition …

Second Quarter:

-X-rays are being performed on Kendrick Perkins’ right knee as we speak.

-Vujacic knocks in a three, which is then answered in lightning-quick fashion by Ray Allen. 30-20, Lakers.

-The Lakers are playing with all of the urgency on the floor, and the Celtics continue to watch as the lead grows. The rebounding edge has also ballooned to 14 – 5 in favor of L.A.

-Doc Rivers smartly pulls Rasheed from the game after his hack of Lamar Odom. It was smart because Wallace came close to earning another tech (and a suspension) while arguing the call, which was his third foul of the game already. Odom’s free throws make it 34 – 20 for the Lakers.

-Ray Allen is the game’s leading scorer with 12 points, and the only Celtic who can seem to get anything going so far. Kobe headed to the line for two free throws after this timeout.

-Jordan Farmar with an impressive take to the hoop, and scores over KG. Were this a few years ago, Farmar would’ve been destroyed on that. Gasol then beats Garnett down the floor for an open putback and layup. Lakers lead grows to 40 – 23. Yikes.

-Big Baby, aka “Shrek”, bricks two consecutive free throws, but Pierce comes right back and answers with a tough driving layup. Gasol — who’s playing infinitely better than he did in Boston — then finds Sasha for an open three.

-Jordan Farmar yokes one on Kevin Garnett. Good lord. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me. Lakers’ lead now 45 – 27, and another timeout. Just under five minutes remaining in the first half.

-Ron Artest, still over-dribbling. The only difference tonight, is that he’s making his shots.

-Kobe Bryant re-enters the fray, and hits a tough, hanging banker over Paul Pierce. Lead up to 22 points now. Well, it was until KG dusted himself off and canned a jumper.

-Wow, we have a Josh Powell sighting. In the NBA Finals. This can’t be life!

-A bunch of unimportant stuff happened …

-Sasha Vujacic comes back to earth and misses a wide-open three by about 12 miles. Goodness. Still, Lakers up by 20 with under a minute to go.

-Paul Pierce cans a long jumper in Kobe’s eye. PP has eight points so far.

-Lamar Odom tips in a forced miss by Bryant, pushing the lead back up to 20 as we head into halftime. 51 – 31 for the Lakers, who are dominating every facet of the game.

Third Quarter:

-Derek Fisher picks up his 4th foul almost immediately as soon as the second half begins. It’s now up to Shannon Brown to check Ray Allen.

-Rondo’s jumper makes it 51 – 33. And Lakers fans are praying they’ll not see a repeat of Game 4 of the 2008 Finals.

-Kobe is facing double teams each times he gets near the rock, and Boston’s defense is tightening up. They just can’t buy buckets right now. Lamar Odom, though, can. As he sticks a long jumper.

-Paul Pierce’s open three-pointer trims the lead back down to 17 points. But Kobe comes right back with a tough drive, getting the and-1 over Kevin Garnett. Bryant has 18 points now, following the freebie.

-Kobe then finds Shannon Brown on the break for the monster slam. Crowd here eating it up. But KG quiets them for a moment with a long jumper.

-Still, L.A. remains fully in control with a 50 – 32 lead heading into the timeout. The rebounding edge is now 34- 19.

-UPDATE from the NBA: ”Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins sustained a right knee sprain and will not return to tonight’s game. His condition will be re-evaluated tomorrow. The injury occurred at the 5:30 mark of the first quarter.” (Tough blow for the Celtics.)

-Shannon Brown would be a very rich man if he sold his jumping ability. He just skied in for an incredible one-handed alley oop out of the timeout. Needless to say, the crowd exploded.

-Kevin Garnett makes yet another jumper. But Kobe comes back into the lane and earns himself a tripe to the charity stripe. Lead back up to 19 following Bryant’s makes.

-The Lakers’ bench has 21 points. The Celtics’ pine has a big, fat zero points. Cripes.

-Rondo makes the rare jumper (for him, anyway), but Ron Artest gets to the hoop for a tough layup. Rajon then escapes Kobe for an open layup. Great play. Lead at 17 now.

-Speaking of great plays, Gasol tosses in a nice left-handed hook in KG’s mug. We head to another timeout with Rondo about to shoot free throws. Your score: 70 – 51.

-With Rondo on the floor, writhing in pain (he took a shot to the face), Vujacic knocks down an open three pointer to push the lead up to 22, the biggest it’s been tonight. During the 20-second timeout, Laker fans start chanting “Boston Sucks!” again.

-Ron Artest adding insult to blowout: Tru Warrier cans an open three (his 3rd of the night) to push lead up to 25. End of 3 quarters.

-I don’t mean to be presumptuous, but I’m already prepping for Game 7.

Fourth Quarter:

-Between the third and fourth quarters, I took a bathroom break and heard a drunken Lakers fan chant, “Shoot it, Rondo!” This was followed up by delirious laughter. Yep, the home fans are enjoying this blowout.

(Which, incidentally, Gasol just pushed to a 27-point lead. In the NBA Finals! What is this, 2008?)

-Andrew Bynum will likely not return tonight. He has a massive ice pack on that bad right knee of his. He’ll need to give it everything he’s got in Game 7. With the Celtics hoping Perkins can make a comeback.

-Nate Robinson is the first Celtic to score off the bench tonight. That, as we say in the business, is not good. 24 – 3 is the bench scoring disparity for the Lakers/Celtics.

-Some careless Lakers play on the offensive end has led to a couple of fastbreak opportunities for Boston, which is still down by 21 (following Kobe’s technical foul.)

-A weaving Kobe drive gives him 22 points for the night, and the Lakers a 23-point lead with 5 minutes to go. As he heads to the line, following a questionable foul on Tony Allen, the crowd serenades him with “MVP!” chants. Lead back up to 25. Really.

-Marquis Daniels for three! This has to be the Twilight Zone.

-Kobe then ducks under the hoop for a nice layup. Phil Jackson will likely pull him from this game any second now. Huge lead, with 3 minutes to go.

-Huge ovation as Bryant exits the game.

-The crowd begins to file out of the Staples Center with just under 3 minutes remaining. Can’t blame them. This puppy has been over since halftime. 88 – 65, Lakers.

-All we are left with now are dying “Boston Sucks!” chants, and free throws for both sides. Pardon me as I yawn …

-That’s all, folks! Lakers even up the series with Boston in convincing fashion (89 – 67), forcing an epic Game 7 on Thursday night. We’ll be in the building bringing you all the goods from Staples Center.

Goodnight.

Cannot wait for game 7 to begin.

Celtics didn’t even try last night. They are a very weird team. Has any other serious contender ever had as many blowout losses during a playoff run? They’ve done it twice against against Cleveland, Orlando, and twice against L.A.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

The Lakers are just were they wanted to be game 7 and should have been in 2008 if not for 24 point comeback from Celtics. If the Lakers players help Kobe again, Lakers win. Kobe deserves this title and I know he wants it bad. Lakers have the edge in home court thursday, just need to play hard and not give up. The key is what third player on the Lakers can get 15 to 20 points as the third option. Hopefully that will be Odom or Artest. If so Lakers win in another blowout and the kobe haters cannot hate anymore and like Jeff Gundy said, JUST GIVE THE MAN HIS DUE!!!

  • Kap

I’m glad Van Gundy mentioned how if Lebron or Jordan would have scored 19 straight they would get praise whereas Kobe is criticized and called a ballhog.

  • http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:OzhW3M1GBSKkgM:http://fashionsensei.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/jackie-moon.jpg Jackie Moon

Kobe, that selfish jerk, he never passes the ball because he wants to score all the points … except for the time he gave the ball to Shannon to finish the dunk on the fastbreak.

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

One more to go. To shut the king of the haters up, PLEASE win this one Lakers!

  • BostonBaller

MJ was called a ball hog by haters..All the great scorers have been called that and more. No doubt Kobe is the man but I think The C’s will apply that team D in game 7. I love game 7′s, even on the road!!! Enjoy folks…and I was serious before about trading Sheldon for Candace.

  • http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:OzhW3M1GBSKkgM:http://fashionsensei.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/jackie-moon.jpg Jackie Moon

“Kobe is a crybaby and sulks when they lose. And when they win, he is arrogant and big head.” Actually, he’s quite the same win or lose in the post games.

  • http://freeones.com jbn74sb

I loved the fact that tiny little Rondo, who struts around like he’s tough, needed 4 stitches in his chin after landing on Artest’s wrist, and that Artest didn’t even seem to realize that there had been any contact.

  • KulchaKris

As a Laker fan, I have to say that this series leaves me totally confused. Both teams seem to vacillate between unstoppable offense/high defenive effort and poor offensive execution/matador defense. Despite what anyone here or elsewhere says, we really have no idea how Game 7 will play out.

Now, for those who said that Rajon Rondo was the top pg in the league, really?? The man was left wide open for a top-of-the key jumper, and shot an airball. I won’t even mention his struggles from the free throw line. I defy any sensible Celtics fan to say they wouldn’t rather have Deron Williams, Chris Paul, heck, even Steph Curry running the show right now.

  • BostonBaller

KulchaKris, I would indeed rather have Rondo than thos other guards. Curry, really? RR’s jumper & FT’s will improve and actually throughout the playoffs he HAD been hitting them more. If he is aggressive he is indeed one of the top PG’s in the L. @jbn74sb, did I miss something? Was it really Artest’s wrist or are you reaching to make a pointless point? The fact that he got stitches tells you that it was at least a good shot to the chin (nothing dirty)and of course Artest “seemed” like he didn’t know it happened, he is so used to getting everything called on him that he always looks unaware. He gets less fouls called on him since he’s been in LA..membership has it’s priviledges, just ask any player who finally gets to play with a contender. lol.

  • http://www.springbored.net letsmotor

@KulchaKris: despite Rondo’s free throw struggles and that unsightly air ball, I’d take Rondo over any of those guys on the C’s. I still think Deron Williams and Chris Paul are better point guards, but Rondo fits so well with the Celtics. he’s a pass first point guard on a team loaded with scorers–that’s a perfect fit. he’s also the best defensive point guard and the best rebounding point guard, and the Celtics need him for those two things. as for Steph Curry… the kid has HUGE potential, and will probably be great one day, but he’s still very much unproven (like any rookie, pretty much). i don’t know anyone who thinks the Celtics would benefit from having a rookie point guard in place of Rondo.

  • BostonBaller

As far as an MVP for The Celtics it would be hard to say one individual and not b/c of the reasons some of you would like to put out there like consistency. I’d rather see a 1st (I think) of a team MVP b/c they indeed roll as one unit and when that happens there are different guys who have opportunities to shine. Ppl keep saying there are 3 future HOFers on the team therefore on any given night one of those players could be hotter than the other two plus you can’t base MVP on scoring leaders alone. What about the rest of the elements of the game? To give the MVP to a player on the losing team would be completely idiotic b/c a team that wins the finals couldn’t have sucked therefore someone stood out or as I mentioned they all stood together. Think b4 you leap or you just might fall…poof

  • The Philosopher

BostonBaller, Jerry West won a finals MVP on the losing side.

  • BostonBaller

co-sign letsmotor…although I can’t say definately that those guys are better all around pg’s. They shoot better but do they do anything else that much better than RR? No, everything across the board is almost dead even. FT’s are huge but RR is more durable and I’m not trying to get rid of him for any of those guys. The question is, would you take any of the 3 over your teams current pg? Don’t let the Green sway your judgement. lol

  • Kap

Are you serious? Rondo over Deron Williams? Chris Paul is a great rebounder also and Deron Williams is a pass first pg who would kill anyone for sagging off him with a jumpshot, pass, or drive to the hole. Just based on fact that D Will would demand more of a double team could possibly free up Allen or Pierce even more.

  • http://www.dimemag.com Royal

If Deron Williams was on the Celtics instead of Rondo my Lakers would have been swept already.Rondo is a great point guard who rebounds, plays the passing lanes, and thrives in transition. In my opinion, if the Lakers control the rebounding and have a effecient offense, Rajon will be non-factor.

  • Klav

First and foremost, I give props to Bostonballer and letsmotor for clearly being true fans. Nothing but appreciation for you guys, even if you are rooting for the team I hate the most. I’m sure you guys feel the same about true LA fans. But to touch on the Rondo picture, dude is raw. As far as who would fit in better and whatnot, I don’t think CP or DWill would have as much freedom defensively as Rondo. Rondo just has a 6th sense for being at the right place at the right time, his natural athletic ability and long wingspan make him good for the C’s defense. As far as fit, as great as DWill and CP are, I don’t think that they would fit in with the C’s because of their style of play. Where they are more offensive minded, Rondo just lets it come to him and distributes because he can pass to 3 HOF’s. And LA can only win if they penetrate, draw fouls, make free throws, and play D. End of story. These Finals seem tainted, like it’s not even fair, and even beating Boston won’t feel as satisfying. Smh.

  • http://submedia.tv/index.htm CommissionerPalpatine

@BostonBaller. Wishful thinking that his FT’s and jumpshot will get better. I suppose you have a point since they cant get worse. But to say you wouldnt take Deron or CP3 over RR either proves that you are blinded by green or know nothing of the NBA. I cant think of a single thing that RR does better than those other two. I love my Hornets and CP3 but sometimes I think I would take Deron over him… Oh and I love when you come into a post saying “I didnt read the comments above, I dont need to,” and then start spouting your bull. No one cares how tall your wife is.

  • BostonBaller

@Cummisshi7palpal or whatever #1 the height reference came from another writers reply to my Candace Parker remark thank you very much. #2 Look up the stats and you will see that other than FT% & 3pt% all 3 are very evenly matched and if you factor in the entire playoffs RR elevated his stats even more. I don’t need glasses to see that. #3 What exactly did I say that was shaded Green other than I want RR instead of those guys? Did I say they suck? No. Did I downplay their game. No. So I say to you as I’ve said to others..stop stretching the truth to prove a pointless point and stop spewing anger over nothing b/c it just makes you sound like an AnalCircle. #4 I say I didn’t read the above b/c I didn’t read it and not b/c it didn’t have merit. It either has to do with time or in the DFish blog it was b/c I already knew his story and am a fan of his (oh yeah, I can’t like anyone but Celtics b/c I’m blinded by GREEN.) Are you part of the media b/c you seem to leave out parts of the truth to get yourself going and when I say “I don’t need to” isn’t there a reasoning written after that part? Read between the lines or get hooked on Phonics..I love my Celtics but there are times I’d rather have Gasol or Bynum over Perk..but that can’t be b/c again I wear those GREEN shades. # Who cares…big Props to Klav & guys like The Philosopher, AllenP and others who enjoy the game, know the game, is passionate about the game yet still know it’s just a game.

  • BostonBaller

Oh yeah, you still have about 2 minutes of fame left so go for it and try not to show what an AnalCircle you can be…take a deep breathe, exhale and blow chunks of vile nonsense. Are those the types of responses you are craving? Is your inner child getting satisfied now? I hear you cooing and suckling your pacifier so everything must be right in your little world now. lol. Just kidding man, have a good night.

  • The Philosopher

BIG shoutout @BostonBaller. On the Game 6 thread my comment posted in your screen name. I don’t know how that happened. Oh, and shout out @letsmotor. Best wishes to all.

  • http://www.springbored.net letsmotor

thanks for the shout out, Philosopher. i still say I’ll take Rondo over any of these guys. not saying he’s definitely better, just that i like his game more and i think it fits extremely well with the Celtics. maybe it’s because I’m a defensive-minded player, but I just love his mentality on the defensive end, and his steals numbers don’t even tell the whole story of his defense. i mean, look at the job he did on Jameer in the ECF. sure, Jameer’s scoring didn’t drop, but his FG% and assist numbers did, while his turnovers more than doubled. i just think most teams would love that from their point guard, the team’s real first line of defense. you may say that Paul and Williams are betters shooters and scorers than him, and you’d be right, but that’s not what the Celtics need from him. they need a defensive-minded, pass first point guard who can run a great fast break and pitch in some rebounds. Rondo does all that, and i don’t think the Celtics would trade him for anyone.

  • Reflex

Non issue, DWILL&CP3 for that matter are superior to Rondo, like Roy Jones Jr said, Y’ALL MUST HAVE FORGOT! smdh!

  • http://joelongweichen@gmail.com Joel O’s

What makes a PG better than another? No easy answers, and you guys brought up lots of good points already. Is DWill better than CP3 because his team has been a perennial playoff team, or is he better because he always beats CP3 head-to-head? Is Rondo the best since he’s 1.) got a title, and 2.) come up huge a number of times, especially in the last 2 playoff runs? Is Steve Nash the best since everyone who plays with him has career years? Will CP3 not be considered the best until he has a real team that isn’t too old/gimpy and he shows what he can really do on the biggest stage?

  • Lakers_Supporter

You can do that, Lakers!!! But you must do that as a team as one unit – togeather you are unstoppable, especially at home court. Every one on the team should step up, take f***ing maximum out of himself and fight, literally fight to the end!!!
I suppose you will find some brain-thoughts to apply this formula properly for yourselves and not to fail like children of a fifth grade at school.
I truly believe in you, your coach and fans!
Let’s go L.A. and take what’s duly yours!!!

Bostonballer is a whimp! To compare the stats of Rondo and Deron or CP3 is just bs! Take a look at there supporting casts… blind argumentation!

  • http://www.motherjones.com AndTheJellosJigglin

Cummishipalpal7? AnalCircle? BostonBaller I dont know exactly why youre so pissed off but it seems like youre the one “spewing anger.” And the fact that you would only sometimes take Gasol over Perkins pretty much proves the Star Wars geek/geekette’s point about your green tinted shades. To think I used to appreciate your opinion…

  • http://Www.lkz.cn Darksaber

Damn, BB is getting abused in here, but just like whitehot, BostonBaller don’t back down. Nice

  • BostonBaller

@rikson: What else should I give other than stats which are facts? And when you actually watch the games when those guys go head to head RR has actually had the better games, another fact. He hasn’t destroyed them but he has done more than hold his own. I’m so tired of guys talking about his supporting cast and using it for their argument. One minute the “big 3″ are too old and suck the next minute they are HOFers. PDouble is a fake…PDouble is HOFer.. KG is too brittle & old…KG is a HOFer, RAY can’t shoot any more and should get traded..Ray is the best shooter ever.. make up you minds. Yes he has a better supporting cast but that should only elevate his assists since “RR can’t shoot” right? Shouldn’t the other two guys have even more points than the do since their support is much less and they can shoot more and shouldn’t their rebounds be higher since their “lesser” cast should be missing more ? You play with whomever is on your team..period. If knowing facts is being a wimp then so be it but don’t try to make it seem like whay=t I said was so far fetched that I’m a totally biased fan. take that somewhere where ppl will believe anything.

  • BostonBaller

@jigglinjello: Again I say some of you read what you want and take pieces for your argument while leaving the rest out. You jumpeed on a bandwagon that has no tires when you agreed that I wear GREEN tinted shades partly b/c I wrote (get the quote right next time if you are going to come at me) “I love my Celtics but there are times I’d rather have Gasol or Bynum over Perk..” It was actually Commish.. who wrote SOMETIMES. lol (I love my Hornets and CP3 but sometimes I think I would take Deron over him…” Does that mean he is wearing baby blue tinted glasses? No. Go back and read both statement then reload b/c you’re on empty. The “anger” you hear from what I wrote was partly b/c he tried to quote me then claimed that I spout bull, i get tired of guys taking this way too seriously and going at ppl w/out facts, especially when it seems as if they only want to get a reaction..so from time to time I give them what they seem to want. imo. The perceived “anger” you felt from me was partly in jest if you read the last line (“lol. Just kidding man, have a good night.” ) but you probably glazed over that or simply put a self reasoning on it in order to dismiss it.
As Mark Jackson says “look at the body of work”.

  • BostonBaller

@Darksaber No I don’t back down although I sometimes sit back and just read and laugh. lol. One can only be abused if they become a victim and I can’t see that being the case. lol. I’m almost positive that if the Lakers win The commish who is a Hornets fan will be on here cheering them on and blasting The C’s and our fans. lol. I’m not sure who Jello is rooting for but I’m pretty sure he or she will be doing the same thing. If the C’s win I’ll be on here but you’ll notice the difference. Last thing, again looking at the body of work..I’m a Celtics fan no doubt and no excuses, win or not but you can not accuse me of being jaded. Shout out to my wife who is out of school for the Summer. hahaha

  • rikson

@BostonBaller: Three allstars will open space for you, plus demanding doubleteams! Youll get a bunch of wide open shots every game playing with them! Boston is a prime defensive team, so theyll get a lot of defensive rebounds – thats were Rondos Rebound-Stats comes into play. Dont get me wrong, Rondo is a GREAT PG, and I think we are all surprised how fast he elevated his game. But tbh he is not at the level of Deron or CP… period! Oh, and sorry for the whimp-thing. But I just cant agree on turning arguments, or leave information out of a discussion, so theyll fit your cause!

  • rikson

Im also a Celtics-fan BUT I still live on planet earth….

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

RR is a major liability for the C’s. Never understood why Cavs didn’t put J. Moon on him or even Parker on him to shadow him like Kobe does. If Cavs can do that, they win. RR killed throughout playoffs until the Lakers. Kobe is not even playing him. Kobe is about 8 to 10 feet from him, daring him to shoot. So now RR is scared to shoot and is forcing himself to the basket throwing up bad floaters. RR can get better in shooting but thats not him, so it will never be good enough to play him tight. The Lakers are showing the blueprint to beat the Celtics. The key is rebounding and making RR passer from the outside and not let him get in the paint. Saying you would take RR over CP3 and Deron Williams is just plain Dumb. I would take Stephon Curry over RR too. IF I was Celtics, I would trade RR for Curry, but I bet the Warriors would turn that down. RR is good, but how many teams would trade their point guard for him, espically if that team is already winning. NOT TO MANY. I would take Brandon Jennings over RR, the list goes on. So GREEN people chill, I know yall like RR, because he has played great until now, but their are ALOT of better players that could make the Celtics unstoppable team on offense.

No doubt, i don’t take this stuff personally, i can’t..Your points are valid I’m just saying for me, I prefer RR but I’m sure there are a few Boston fans who would “secretly” prefer the other 2. I’ve said it before, I’d take DFish if The Lakers didn’t want him. If I could stake my team with 5 all stars and some high level bench players I’d do it (not possible) RR rbs are mostly defensive and our overall D helps that but the kid is aggressive going for that ball. I hope we didn’t scare The Commish off..lol. I gotta go get things done so I can watch the game w/out interruptions. Have fun doing what you do while watching the games folks. Some of us haven’t washed that t shirt since the playoffs started. and some probably do things before during & after each game “that makes our team win” especially us old players. ROTFL.
