Polladaday: C’s Leading Scorer in Game 1?

The majority of fans would be quick to say Pierce, myself included. However, he is supposedly going to be facing Ron Artest all night. That definitely affects my vote. What does SLAM Nation think?

    Ron Artest can’t handle Paul Pierce, lets be serious. That is the only logical reason why Fakers took Artest so Hog ball Kobe can keep shoothing. I kinda like it, lets see how Kobe keep up with Ray Allen or maybe he’ll try to guard Rondo. Celtics in 6!!!! Boston run thru Lakers with a speed boat.

    There’s no doubt that Artest is a great defender, but Pierce has put up great numbers against Artest for his entire career. He’ll be slowed down but not even close to stopped. That said, Ray Ray all the way.

    Artest is not that good of a defender to necessitate a place in a Celtics poll. Pierce has a huge offensive arsenal, Artest shouldn’t bother him.

    The choices in the Polls are conditioned. Most people would vote for Allen in this scenario, but you forget that allen will be matched-up with Kobe too and I don’t think Kobe would give allen the first jab or anything close to that considering unless he wants to be humiliated twice. This finals will be the most defining moment that KObe will consider of his career unless he can guarentee to himself he’ll be there for the next three years or so. PP goes over 20 for this one. 26-27 maybe.

    Looking at this strictly matchup wise, Fisher is going to have a much harder time containing Rondo that Kobe is guarding Ray Allen. Kobe is still an excellent perimeter defender, so I don’t see Allen going off against him. Pierce/Artest will be a good matchup, and I think the ability to stay out of foul trouble will be a key factor for those two. If Artest gets some quick fouls, PP could have a big game. My vote goes to Rondo though because he has been tearing up every point guard he’s faced so far in these playoffs.

    kobe is a good defender, but historically, he doesn’t do a great job on ray. he’s used to being able to rome the passing lanes, and as soon as kobe gets caught ball watching, ray’s in the corner hitting a wide open three. i voted ray because he’s my favorite player, so i’m biased, but i’d say it’s a close call between him and pierce. artest is a very good defender, and he will do his job, which is make things tough for pierce. he won’t shut him down though, and you have expect at least 2 or 3 games where he goes off.

    lol they HAVe to pt out hes guarded by artest but its nothin artest is a superdefender but i mean honestly pierce might be a ballhog but hes turned into somethin…….he can still score ridiculously well ………im goin for nate rob just cuz i think hes gotta do somethin……

    If Kobe guards Rondo, he will be left with broken dreams and shattered dreams, cause Rondo is gonna blow by him like he does everyone else. It will be between Pierce and Allen who is the leading scorer.
