Kevin Durant Agrees To 5-Year Deal

Kevin Durant grew into an NBA superstar and team leader this past season. Now, at just 21, he’s signed an extension to continue doing what he’s been doing for another five seasons. Via @KDthunderup: “Exstension for 5 more years wit the #thunder….God Is Great, me and my family came a long way…I love yall man forreal, this a blessing!”

KD is so cool… He is the Anti-Lebron.

  • Atrain

    Agree @IndyB

Kd is a really cool guy. This guy is very humble and likeable.

  • Fat Lever

Anyone see the irony of this as opposed to the spectacle of LeBronze James? Good for KD, humble throughout.

  • Joey E.

no brainer. and lol Indy B. funny

  • Kap

Damn…He belongs in LA with the Lakers.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

See that. KD gets a 5 year extension in OKC…whereas Denver only puts a 3 year extension on the table for Melo. If I’m Melo, a year from now I opt out and get out of Denver. Melo should have gotten at the very least a 4 year extension. Just sayin’. Anyways, congrats to KD and OKC.

Co-Sign IndyB… The most likeable baller in the NBA rite now!

  • The D Train

Every time Durant goes and scores 30+, or does something like this, where you realize he cares more about playing basketball than being a basketball player, I’m just so happy that Stern and Clay Assface hijacked the Sonics. God knows I wouldn’t have wanted to go up I-5 a little ways to watch that cat for 10+ years.

  • ccantrell

kd is the future of the nba

  • unrel

@Kap.. i agree.. but that gives him a few years to get better.. and come on board when kobe retires.. i’m sure there’s a player option after 4 years..

A great player that *gasp* cares about wining more then money???? I’ve never heard of such a thing. Seriously, looking at this deal make the Hawks look even more stupid than they did a few days ago.

  • John Starks

I want my future children to grow up and be like Kevin Durant

@D-Train. I here you. 20 min drive from Bellevue and I could be watching this team…

  • Fat Lever

He was at the OKC summer league games too. Kind of surprised by a guy of his level in the league watching guys battle out for roster spots on his squad. Looks like he’s more concerned with getting his team better.

  • Hussman25

to add to Fat Lever: He also there @ the draft every year since being drafted (either working for NBA.com or as a casual fan)… Everyone keeps piling on to why he’s likely to become my new favorite player…

  • “God is Great” The driving force behind his actions???

  • dino

    KD > LeBron

  • http://www.basketbrasil.com.br Rubens

    KD is the anti-Kobe

  • Silverselectjd

2 things. How does Lebron think announcing his future at a press con is any good for his already tainted image? And with all the backlash over him not being able to win, why name your twitter account King James? Anyway, not that anyone gives a crap, but i’m pretty sure he’ll say “LeQueensbridge”.

Co-sign D-Train. BTW, never call them the official team name, they will always be the Zombie Sonics.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

KD is so much cooler than that b*tch, 6-24.

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

They’ll pick up where this current Laker Dynasty is going to leave off. IF they can keep this team together and healthy. Phx, San Antonio, Denver are all going the opposite way. KD may get a ring before Lebron.

  • c_cantrell

@zee.. true bro true.. very possible

  • tavoris

@Hussman-I’m already in full-fledged man crush mode with Durant. He’s everything that NBA should be promoting right now.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

he will be the most hated player when people starts comparing him to kobe. Lol. Kidding aside, he’s a very humble, very loyal guy. he’s cool. good for him.

  • http://RickyRude@hotmail.com RickyRude

He doesn’t even mentione one word of money or how much he got, but rather gives credit to God and his family. Kevin Durant, you are the future and a true rolemodel my friend.

  • Ken

I dunno…he can’t benchpress 180 lbs, so obviously he’s got no chance at being good in the NBA.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

One of the least hated guys in the NBA anyways.

  • Kgomotso Nkhumise

What are you on about Ken? He has been mesmerising opponents ever since he came into the NBA. Heart goes a long way, more than the amount of strength you got in the NBA. Durant is an awesome dude and congrats to him regardless of whether he can bench press 180. He’s a BEAST…

  • WangChung

Hate the fact that Durant will likely be on a small-market team for awhile, but OKC is becoming one of those small-market teams worth rooting for. Sam Presti > Danny Ferry

  • jeff

    kgomotso,

He was just joking man. KD is the truth, awesome player & humble guy. I’m pretty sure the Thunder is most peoples second favorite team. Him and Westbrook are going to be a great duo for years.
