Bucks May Release Michael Redd

Michael Redd, who will earn $18 million next season (mostly from insurance), is unlikely to play again in Milwaukee. Will he play again in the League? From Garry Howard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: “John Salmons. Drew Gooden. Corey Maggette. Chris Douglas-Roberts. Keyon Dooling. Larry Sanders. These are the names of the new players added to the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster by the blossoming John Hammond, a former coach who is proving that he is well-deserving of his tailored suits and his top-of-the-franchise office. Quite simply, these are pure upgrades, moves that will help the Bucks take that giant leap from a 46-win regular season to a 50-plus victory year and a deeper run in the NBA postseason. What they really mean, however, is that we have seen the last of Michael Redd at the Bradley Center, the only remaining player with ties to the Bucks’ crew that came within one game of the NBA Finals in 2001.”

Too bad for Michael. But not surprising at all.

    He’ll be fine.
He seems like a smart guy.

Why release him? They still need a shooter like him and he was avging 30 ppg a few years ago before the series of recent injuries. Give the man a chance.

    Start the Heat rumors…

  • Jackie Moon

I don’t see where it says they may release him.

  • unrel

i hope he can get and stay healthy.. seems like a nice dude with a great story..

@Jer Boi. Because they’re planning on going forward after this year without him anyway and he demands the ball too much to work with this team. They will be significantly better if they release him. If he could mold himself into simply a catch and shoot guy he would be very useful, but that’s not happening.

just heard that LeBron James is recruiting him to Miami… PD that is… i think michael redd will be a great cop, due to his knack for stake outs. :P

Time for clean up on isle 22. the remains of redd’s career are all over

  • JTaylor21

See, these is exactly what teams do. dude has been hurt and hasn’t been 100% but the team doesn’t care because his useless to them, so they dump him. When you clowns cry about players leaving teams but don’t when teams just release them. Fu** being loyal because it’s every man for themselves.

To me, him coming back mid-season last year ruined that team’s hot start. Brandon was too worried about finding Redd on the wings and stopped looking for his shot, and when Redd went down for the rest of the year, the Bucks were a mess and BJ couldn’t get his scoring/ attack mode going again. Redd will never actually contribute anything on-court, and it’s best that they just cut ties with him or make him an assistant coach. If anything, all of the players loved having him around and the young guys looked up to him.

redd can score, but like what was said, it’s a business. it’ll be a waste of space to have on him in your roster if he’s just gonna waste space on the bench everytime he’s injured… again blame this on grant hill, penny, and t-mac… after gettin’ paid. that’s when injury hits.

  • Tommy Patron

Redd is totally cooked. He’s a tiny, big-assed shooting guard with NO remaining quicks to get separation coming off screens. Useless except as a shooter off the bench.

when healthy, one of the greatest shooters in the L… Which isnt very often..

  • 6marjons

you think he’ll take a pay cut to go join the rest of the redeem team?

He used to be so lethal. ..Hes not that old is he? Like 31 maybe?

  • Atrain

They won’t out right release him when he’s making 18 million this season. He said he’ll come back around February and they can use him as an expiring trade chip. BUT, he will never suit up in a Bucks uni again

  • james

    hello boston celtics

  • celticsfan08

if he is released, hope he’ll sign in celtics…celtics do like veterans.

  • Robb

    the Bucks are looking tough…

  • logues

agree with james. that was one of bostons problems that they didnt have very many outside threats besides pierce and allen. dont know if the c’s could afford him tho

  • rob stewart

Michael Redd, welcome to New York!

  • Will Lee

either Boston or Heat. I guess Boston’s regret for signing Ray Allen for 20 mil OMG

  • JOE!

Trade bait!!!!!!! New York? He is from Clevland????????

  • JOE!

Maybe a three way trade with the Hornets and Knicks. Chris Paul to the Knicks, Reed to the Hornets and the Bucks get the Knicks cap space?

    Redd> Salmons
    Redd> Maggette
    Redd> CDR
    Redd> Keyon Dooling
    Redd> Drew Gooden
    Redd>>>>>> Larry Sanders
    I don’t see the problem..

  • ShawnShotz

@Shem…(in the voice of Charlie Murphy)WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

i been a Bucks fan my whole life, Redd was just left handed Ray Allen. im glad hes finally gunna be off our backs. he was paid WAAAAAY too much for what he was capable of. 20pts a game, no defensive skills, hates ta pass, injury prone, doesnt make players around him better. i agree that Redd can still shoot, but hes a ball hog an theres no room for that on this current team. anyone that want him on they team, TAKE him please!!!
