Bulls Offer JJ Redick 3 Years, $19M

Redick may join Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng as Duke Blue Devils on the Bulls. From the Chicago Tribune: “the Bulls extended a three-year, $19 million offer sheet to Magic restricted free agent J.J. Redick, who also attended Duke. The Magic have seven days to match the front-loaded offer. [...] Despite one source saying Redick’s offer ‘would be painful to match,’ Magic coach Stan Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel on Wednesday that keeping Redick is a priority.”

Lucky guy. Good fit for the Bulls.
Helps space the floor for Rose, ala Ben Gordon did his rookie year. Also helps out Boozer to relieve the double-team.

Woah Bulls have just created one of the best teams in East right now! Not only do they have Marguee names in Boozer, Rose and Noah but they also have great fitting role players now that compliment them well. For people that have just labeled Miami as the Villain team of the NBA because of they’re overkill and would prefer to go for the underdog, Bulls have just become that team for an upset! If Wade left for his original Home of Chicago rather than staying with the Heat he wouldn’t have been as hated as what Bosh or especially LeBron have now become in their former cities (LeBron x5 for the other cities he flirted with actually).

    Orl is going to match.

^ It would be ‘painful,’ but maybe.

    Perfect Fit

He’s been the guy I wanted in Chi all along, even next to Lebron I thought he’d be a great fit. Watching him defend Ray Allen in the playoffs showed me that he’s more than just a shooter. Solid hustle, defense and shooting…sounds like the perfect compliment to Rose in the backcourt. I actually wish Chicago would have offered him a bit more to dissuade Orlando from matching, because all signs from Otis Smith and Van Gundy point to the Bulls losing out on yet another FA.

He earned it. Hope he goes to Chi-town.

Sounds like the Magic will match.

Good pick-up. Weird how Redick is no longer a joke but a solid player.

come onnnnnnnn JJ Redick will be the Bulls next Kirk Hinrich. He can fill some really good positions! If they take him the Bulls will have a nasty squad!

  • Enigmatic Posted: Jul.10 at 3:45 pm
Damn it Magic, let us have Redick! Although three Dukies on the Bulls? Michael Jordan would not approve!

I really hope Orl matches the offer and keeps JJ around. We need him to win in the playoffs. Heck, I wish he was our starter next year. Anyone interested in Vince? Maybe package Vince with Gortat?

  • ClydeSays Posted: Jul.10 at 9:02 pm
Don’t know how Reddick would do if he was the primary or second scorer and had defenses key in on him. I thought he was effective in Orl because he was the 4th option and the defense usually sagged off him…

  • WangChung Posted: Jul.10 at 10:13 pm
@zeekthefreak: Seriously? Hinrich is a premier defender at his position with better ball handling. As a pure shooter, Redick probably does have the edge.
@orl.chris: Vince’s stock has have plummeted since his knee-shaking performance in the playoffs.

  • jdstorm Posted: Jul.10 at 10:18 pm
Would Detroit take Vince and Gortat for Rip and Tay. then fillers from both sides to match salaries?

  • Jer Boi Posted: Jul.10 at 10:28 pm
Korver and JJs salary offers from the Bulls should be switched

  • zeekthefreak Posted: Jul.10 at 11:16 pm
@WangChung My perspective is that losing Hinrich (who I am sad to see leave my hometown) loses tough hard-nosed D and pretty good scoring. throwing Jj in there will bring you tight scoring and decent D, but his gameplay style I think fits into how the bulls run.

  • Allenp Posted: Jul.12 at 3:03 pm
I like Reddick better than Hinrich at the two because of Reddick’s size. I like both players though. Reddick has a good feel for the game, and getting away from Stan the Man wll do him some good.
