Celtics Moving Closer to Re-Signing Nate Robinson

Nate’s agent tells the Boston Herald that negotiations are progressing nicely with his client: “Aaron Goodwin, the agent for Nate Robinson, said yesterday the two sides could reach a deal by the end of the week. ‘Things are going well,’ Goodwin said. ‘We’re just trying to get something worked out. But both parties are talking.’ According to a league source, the Celtics offered [Tony] Allen an amount similar to the $3 million he will receive annually from Memphis but were unwilling to guarantee the third year as the Grizzlies did. Unlike they had with Allen, the C’s don’t hold the so-called ‘Larry Bird rights’ to Robinson, and as a result, can’t go over the salary cap to give their backup point guard more money. Robinson, however, has professed a desire to return.”

First i was skeptical on the C picking up Nate, but after seeing him n baby beat Lakers in Game 4 i believe he still have rooms to improve on his game that is being consistent. Good re-sign. Now if the C can get Sheed n a healthy Perks back, we might have a rematch. Only the result will be the same, Lakers will own them again!^^

I like that Nate wants to return, but I hope he is utilized more next season. Too many times he rode the pine.

Add an incentive clause to his contract please…”No more and fewer than 2 celebrations after hitting an open jumo shot, per game.”

It looks like Krypto-Nate found a home in Beantown.

Why would he stay in Boston….Doc doesn’t like him.

Have you seen any playoff game this year? How can you not love Nate? Nope, D’Antoni doesn’t count, his ego is bigger than his players…

  • CARTEL

Boston is lucky to have Nate…him and D. Lee were the only reasons I would take the time to go to the Garden to see a live game…

  • riggs

@Jake: youre kidding right? doc himself predicted that nate would win a playoff game for them…

I was PISSED when we lost him to the C’s! He’s Bobby Jackson V2.0 instant offense, just add water!

@james, TAllen’s an idiot. He wore the dopest kicks on that team tho.

nate was a amazing spark off the bench for celtics.. especially in the playoffs (see game 4 against the lakers in the finals).. i didnt think his game would fit at all in boston but he has proved to be an amaizing team player and a true celtic

I think Nate needs Doc to be that calming influence on him. He gets forgotten about at times because Rondo seems like he can play the full 48, but Doc rewarded his good play with minutes in the playoffs. I think they should go small against a few teams and play nate and Rondo in the back court if the matchups allow it.

I don’t get how Tony Allen screwed the Celtics if they wouldn’t guarantee the third year. Sounds like a smart business move.

By the 3rd year TA surely wouldn’t play any better and we need room for salary cap to get somebody much better. TA was ok but overall he surely wasn’t missed. :/

I am very happy to see Nate is back and yes I would rather have him than TA. WELCOME BACK KRYPTONATE!
