Haslem Re-ups With Heat

Let’s look at the Miami Herald: “In the end, forward Udonis Haslem chose the chance to be part of a dynasty over the opportunity to make more dollars. Two leagues sources confirmed Monday afternoon that Haslem has turned down more lucrative mid-level offers from Denver and Dallas to re-sign with his hometown Heat. Both Denver and Dallas had offered Haslem five-year deals with a starting salary of about $6 million. Haslem also had a similar offer from New Jersey. Although details of the Heat’s offer to Haslem were not immediately known, he likely will be earning about $4 million in Miami. After signing Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh last week, the Heat had between $6 million and $8 million in cap space available. The team was working to use that money to re-sign Haslem and also add free agent sharpshooter Mike Miller.”

With this signing and dishing out cash, who else could the Heat sign that could be a solid contributor? Seems like most good players have been either resigned or committed to other teams.

    Meh….

  • LA Huey

Wow. Unless they get some vets (Raja, Big Z) to sign for the minimum, big minutes for the Big 3 this season.

  • http://www.clownpenis.com Tarzan Cooper

They gotta get white mike now

  • http://slamonline.com JL

they can’t get mike miller now cuz they only have 2-4 mil left? mike miller turned down even mid level exception offers from the lakers.

  • http://gmail dirty frank

He was an important piece. Glad they made a deal work. The big 3 will have to play big minutes for sure.

  • T-Money

JL: Mike Miller will be maming what Beas made. 25 for 5, they just have to let the ink dry a bit. Kobe, Pau and Ron Ron played 40 minutes each throughout the year. In fact, those guys play heavy minutes anyways…

  • http://www.shawnkemp.com JACO

good. UD is an important piece to alot of this all.

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

The Big Three will be playing 35-40 minutes ANYWAY. What does it matter? They need guys for injury replacements.
J-Dub, Raja Bell, Matt Barnes, Juwaon Howard, and Big Z will REALLY help right now.

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

Ironically, I don’t really see the Heat going for Jason Williams at all, outside of Wade demanding it. What’s up with that?

  • LA Huey

@T-Money: I’m curious as to who you’re riding with this year. Wasn’t sure if you were a Cleveland fan or (like me) a Bron fan.

  • http://santanagetaway@aol.com Orlando

Where do we get the necessary $$$$ to sign the rest of the team after Haslem and Mike Miller are signed??

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

@LA Huey: thats a shame, di(k ride a player instead of rooting for a team(SMH). and UD is a soldier, thats as valuable as Mike Miller for them mofos

  • http://shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Cheryl

Jukai,I think that is the lineup(your 6:42pm comment).

  • ClydeSays

“Haslem resigns…. For 5 bucks….” He’s a solid vet who deserves to get paid. He should have jumped ship.

  • LA Huey

@Sporting-Lisbon Blazers, I did ride for a team. They were called the “Seattle SuperSonics”. After what Stern and Bennett did to my city, I think I’m entitled to be a fan of a guy I’ve been following since 6/26/03 while my new squad (GState) gets their ish together.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

Awesome news for Heat fans. It is nice to see players who are loyal to their organizations and care more about winning than making a couple extra million dollars.

  • T-Money

LA Huey: I was never a Cleveland fan. Actually, I was stoked that he could get the opportunity to move on this summer and I would have been happy with Chicago or Miami. Nothing to do with the city in itself and the glitz, I just thought the roster wasn’t very talented and they had no flexibility to get better. Cleveland were never able to get a second player that could get his CONSISTENTLY.

  • the truth

LA might be the only team the heat won’t sweep in a series this year. and don’t argue the depleted roster BS, they’ll get some vets and role players that want rings

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

@LA Huey: sorry, my bad…YOURE MORE THAN ENTITLED to follow or root for who the fu(k you want after that shamless dismantling of one of the best franshises and fanbases in all the A…can I interst you in Portland? lol, probably not for one of 2 reasons: deep, true rivalry with the Sonics and its not as cool a city as Oakland even though i´ve never been to either city, or the US for that matter..I root for the Blazers cause love their history, players, home crowds and jerseys. In Europe we Never change clubs, NEVER. but your as is totally understandable.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

your case is what I wanna say in the last sentence

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

as for T-Money…its one of the following 2: he is a Seattle Super Sonics fan trying to cope with their departure or hes di(kriding LePippen all the way baby!!!!!lololol

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

Blazers had some reasons for me to choose them but ultimately, they’d just remind of what I lost. Chose GState because I love the fanbase and for the fact that I can’t be labeled a bandwagon fan. =)

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers: Was it fun watching my Suns giving you a glimmer of hope, then wrecking the hell out of your injury ridden team until they p*ssed blood?

  • http://slamonline.com tealish

@Jukai – I’d guess it was probably as fun as watching your Nash-led Suns bow out early before the big dance, year in and year out. =)

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

Tealish: It’s only bad when you’re blatantly cheated out of the big dance by an inferior team because of terribly unfair rulings and referees working for the mob.

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

@Jukai, poor kid…you seem pissed getting Turkoglu´s GREAT contract for Amare…the fact that it took 6 games to put out my injured ridled team says more about the Suns that the fight we´ve shown all season. good luck getting passed next season by the Kings, Clips and obviously Rockets. into rebuild you go with hedo´s 40mil…hahahahahahhahahahahahah

  • Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers

@Huey: I hate bandwagoners too. you got Curry and Lee now, so things starting to look good.

  • Ronald

I do hope Haslem somehow finds a way to make up for all the lost dollars from staying in Miami. I mean Lebron/Wade might make it through endorsements but Haslem does seem like he’s giving up a lot of dough to stay in Miami.

  • Jessdogg

That was sarcasm right Ronald? I’m sure he’ll be doing just fine like the rest of us.

  • http://dsjkflf.com Jukai

Sporting-Lisbon-Blazers: Says the fan of the team who did absolutely nothing this season, except lose Travis Outlaw. I bet you tell yourself every year that “well we were injured this year but next year we’ll be healthy and back in the playoffs!” as everyone snickers and place bets on Greg Oden’s next injury.

  • http://www.hufsf.com Waylonakolipse

Haslem is a solid player and he’s making a good choice giving up money for championships…hey isn’t he a hometown hero? hahahaha stupid Dan Gilbert.

  • http://iamBCtoday@yahoo.com iamBCtoday

not mike miller. go for tmac with paycut. then sign shaq. or zy. what eddie house and kurt thomas.

  • http://iamBCtoday@yahoo.com iamBCtoday

*what about eddie house raja bell or roger mason. and kurt thomas or juwan howard. the only wrong is they will get a old startng and back up center

  • WangChung

Good for the Heat; bad for Haslem. This guy needs to be jumping on the mid-levels. It’s not like he’s going from 16 mil per to 14 mil. Always liked this cat; hope it doesn’t screw him in the end.

  • CARTEL

He was probably scared Miami fans would burn his jersey like Cleveland did Lebron…LOL

I just hope he’ll actually play quality minutes. He’s contributed a lot to this team over the years, and doesn’t deserve to be relegated to the bench.
