Knicks Looking at Raymond Felton?

Now that Duhon is gone, the Knicks are in need of a point guard. And Raymond Felton may be the man for the job, though the Charlotte Observer has its doubts: “The Knicks will take a hard look at signing Raymond Felton, but don’t be surprised if Luke Ridnour becomes their point guard, after New York committed to a huge contract for Amare Stoudemire. They like Felton. But they’d prefer to sign a point guard to a short-term deal, and that probably isn’t to Felton’s benefit. Ridnour has fewer options, so he’d logically take the chance for the exposure he’d get as a starter in New York. Many of you keep asking me if there’s a sign-and-trade for Felton, and you don’t want to hear the answer: Between the Bobcats’ salary-cap problems and Felton’s middling status in this free-agent class, a sign-and-trade is problematic and unlkely. They’ll probably lose him for nothing, but starting over — even if it means losing the pick he was — might be the best course.”

Every team is looking at almost every player. July 8th cannot get hear fast enough.

I think that Felton would do well in New York. He ran an uptempo offense at UNC and that turned out pretty good.

Felton take less to go to NY, Bobcats will kill your career.

MattM, same thing I was thinking. Ridnour is a backup, don’t understand NYK’s reasoning here. They’re coming off a couple of seasons of having a career backup running the show. Didn’t they learn their lesson?

what about shaun livingston to the knicks he is a free agent, and also he proved to be a real deal in washington, also sign allen iverson to play the 2 spot. he and livingston could switch in defense

I’m interested to see what Felton gets for his new deal because of all the overpaid players so far. He is decent, and it looks like he could be had for a reasonable sum.

Felton plays too much defense to be a good fit in D’Antoni’s system. To work for D’Antoni you have to be fast, willing to pass a lot, an ultra quick decision maker and a good 3 point shooter. Felton plays the game at a slow/calm pace, a mediocre 3 point shooter, and really values defense. He would be a great fit on almost every other team in the NBA beside the Knicks.

The Seed, ever since the Bobcats have existed they have made the playoffs more times than the Knicks. I am not sure how his career would die in an up and comming team compared to the clusterfu(k that takes the court at Madison Square Garden.

The knicks should ride with god shammgod runnin’ the show and booger smith as a back up…represent the streets and bring back the fan base…

    Shout out to Taliek Brown.

felton should stay with the bobcats.. an organized defensive minded, up and coming team is a better fit for him than is the run-n-gun offense that displays absolutely no d

For Knicks, I believe Farmar would be a better D’Antoni fit, but Felton is certainly a good get. It sure makes sense to me, Felton leaves NC for the NYC. However, I must confess, I’m in a NY state of mind.

One of the players the knick should start setting their sights on is JJ Redick… i think he’d flourish in D’Antoni’s System. :) however, getting ramon sessions for a sign and trade deal that features David Lee, i guess he’d like to go there anyway, instead of the knicks losing him for nothing since Minny’s interested with David Lee’s services. :)
    don’t ya think?

Why does it sound like the Knicks are forever “looking for a point guard” but they never draft one?

  • niQ Posted: Jul.6 at 6:36 pm
    Well besides Toney…

  • ConeyIslander Posted: Jul.6 at 7:29 pm

Felton was not used right with the Bobcats. At one time, the Bobcats wanted to start DJ over Felton. Now I feel Bobcats think DJ is a bust. I live in North Carolina, and listen to the Bobcats radio station in Charlotte. I like the Bobcats team, bad drafting and don’t have a superstar. If Stephen Jackson is your best player and Gerald Wallace is your best rebounder you are in trouble. Bobcats need someone to sustain the team and hopefully MJ will not draft for the team and just be a figure head. The drafting of Henderson from Duke was a weak pick last year. This draft sucks and I think the Bobcats signing Collins is there best move in a while. If I was Bobcats I would sign AI to a mid level contract and let him start.

@ the seed..its funny you mention A.I coming to charlotte because I saw him hanging out downtown the other night and had the same thought. I’m like what is AI doing in charlotte for 4th of july? He, Larry and Michael working on something..just my opinion..he would boost the backcourt and help out DJ, Collins and Pargo if he makes the squad

“Everyone loves” Raymond will be wonderful in this system! Did run a high octaine system in college which is suited to his game… Over pay Ray for 1 year and take a crack @TP9 next summer
