Knicks Willing to Trade Anyone for Chris Paul?

The NY Post has sources claiming that, with the sole exception of Amar’e Stoudemire, anyone on the Knicks’ roster is up for grabs should the Hornets be willing to part with CP3: “Why wait until 2012 when you have a shot at him now? According to an NBA executive familiar with Knicks team president Donnie Walsh’s thinking, the Knicks are willing to include in a trade anyone other than Amar’e Stoudemire for Chris Paul, knowing how badly the superstar point guard wants to come to New York. The Knicks will soon find out if Paul is available. On Monday, Paul is expected to meet with new Hornets GM Dell Demps, new coach Monty Williams and president Hugh Weber in the Big Easy, according to a Hornets official. ‘Amar’e won’t be traded, but everyone else is available,’ the executive said.”

Even Raymond Felton? Wasn’t he “just the guy we need to run the team”?

  • TrailBlazing&SportingLisbon

thats not all that new, what do the post thought they would say?! “wow, not Felton, Randolph and Gallinari? thats too much!” lol, nice players and all, but CP´s a supastar!

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

    nah.. still portland.

  • Bruno

willing to trade anyone but who can they trade???

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

As long as they keep Chandler and Gallo then I’m happy.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

I wouldn’t trade Randolph. I’d want to see CP3 get the most out of him, like he did with Tyson Chandler.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

Raymond went to New York to be a backup? Im saddened.

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

So the Knicks are about to become the Phoenix Suns of the East while the Bulls just became the Utah Jazz of the East.

  • MikeC.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but teams can’t trade recently signed free agents until December 15th.

@Kap. I’m pretty sure New Orleans will want either Chandler or Gallo. I don’t see how they could net Chris Paul with scrubs. I don’t see New Orleans accepting any deal without the getting some starters in return.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

Cause if New Orleans doesn’t like the trade? They’ll just keep CP3 since his DOES have 2 more years. lol

  • http://slamonline.com Kap

    niQ
Unfortunately, I know that one of those two or maybe even both would have to be involved in that trade if it did happen.

  • http://www.twitter.com/kevinchung Kevin

i would still take CP3 for Chandler + Gallo.. ideally i’d like to give up Felton, another scrub and just one of either Chandler or Gallo, but again, i don’t think he can be traded yet.

  • http://www.twitter.com/kevinchung Kevin

    ^ he being Felton.

  • http://thekobebeef.wordpress.com LDR4

Knicks have gone straight loco. New Orleans would want everyone for Paul.

  • the downtown brown clown

@BETCATS – felton was grabbed by the knicks so that they can trade for CP3… hahahaha!

@Bruno – who can they trade? well the knicks can trade felton, randolph, azubuike, gallo, chandler, toney douglas, or even allan houston for that matter, Knicks need CP3, the they can just wait for others to fill the roster. and Melo on 2011…

@Kevin, they could include chandler but hopefully not gallo. add toney douglas in the mix, and some draft picks. plus felton. and they got some youngin’s to work with. :D

  • ConeyIslander

They would want Chandler and Danillo not to mention 300 years of first round picks! Chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllll, Just wait a year and have him and Mello come on down!

  • O

I’d give up Wilson before Gallo for some reason. Gallo’s a deadlier shooter and I feel like he plays with more heart than Wilson. But If they do trade i’m sure Tony D, Randolph and Curry’s expiring contract will be involved before they add Wilson or Gallo.

  • Chris

This trade only works if they don’t take on Okafur’s contract (which I’m presuming they will have to). If they do, then its not worth it. Melo is more needed for this team than CP3.

For CP3, they would not only have to give up most of their young talent, but by accepting Okafur’s contract, they won’t be able to get Melo.

They just need to be more patient. If they are, then they can get Melo next year and wait for a trade the year after.

Chandler, Toney and Curry’s expiring deal plus a first rounder for Okafor and cp3 is fine by me. Don’t know about the salary portion though.

  • Shem

Anyone really isn’t much when it comes to the Knicks. Raymond Felton is a bust, Danilo’s a good player but I’m pretty sure the Knicks are chasing CP3 so hard because they’re expecting Melo to come next summer. Melo at the 3. These big 3′s that are going around really aren’t that effective. Boston’s big 3 has a lot of depth and they can still afford to get guys like Jermaine O’neal and Rondo (who I think is the best player on that team). Miami and Knicks if this goes down won’t win.

  • The D Train

Wait a second…are the Knicks indicating they would be willing to trade any of their players who has never sniffed an All-Star team for a perennial All-NBA PG who, when healthy, is one of the top 10 guys in the league? Wow, Walsh and Co. really drive a hard bargain, huh?

  • rainman10

Raymond Felton is a bust? In what way?

  • John Starks

Message to Knicks: I dont care how you get it done. Do it

  • http://fdsjklfl.com Jukai

If the Knicks can somehow pull this off, I’m sending Donnie Walsh a fruit basket

  • D12FSU

The Magic are probably saying the same thing (except for Dwight). Anyone Orlando offers will be better than anyone NY can offer.

  • Yesse

This will be interesting and Carmelo soon too. That would be Amare’s dream.

  • bnets

Hornets want Okafor in da deal with CP3 if they are goin to trade and da knicks cant really trade much until dec. 15 so that`s goin to be very hard. I see Orlando or Dallas gettin him since they have more trading assets and are proven championship contenders

  • http://www.slamonline.com TADOne

I believe even Donnie Walsh, James Dolan and the Cablevision empire would trade themselves for CP3.

  • the downtown brown clown

@Shem – I’m a Knicks fan and a basketball fan. whoeva says raymond felton is a bust, is completely stupid. Felton is a good player and would be able to thrive in the league.

And maybe you’re right about Big 3′s not being able to work… Boston got away with depth… Miami may not work, but might if they’d get Team USA ideal… and by the way, support wise, miami’s still chasing people… but on the looks of things… they might have a deeper bench than the celtics. Miami ballers will take a lot of sacrifices stats wise. but New York’s “Big 3″ if ever… will not need to adjust for them to work. You have Amare who scores through pick and rolls… and Chris Paul who loves to give em lobs to his big men… and add up melo to the mix, an offensive demon that can penetrate any type of defense when he’s into it. just scared that when he goes to NY he might lose the “defense” he’s sorta developing in denver. so to be frank, NY’s supposed to be “Big 3″ would have better chemistry when it comes to the court.

  • MusketeerX

To everyone here: The Knicks cannot trade for Paul and expect to get Melo in free agency… Okafur is undoubtedly going to come with CP3… If that is the case, the cap room is shot to death.

  • total scrotal implosion

Knickerbockers offer: wilson, kelenna ‘eyelashes’ azubuike, gallo, eddy curry and his fast food litter, starks performance in the finals, 5 ballboys, 2 cheerleaders, a dozen fema trailers, the haunting spirit of marbury, and 3 gallons of vasoline

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Please keep Toney Douglas… I want Chris Paul but Toney is so good and is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Wilson Chandler is another play I always hoped would stay in New York, but chances are the Hornets would want him. I mean it’s CHRIS PAUL, Knicks can’t give up scrubs and get him. Right?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ Chris: Who gives a sh!t about a Okafur’s contract, if they can get Chris Paul then DO IT! I’d rather have Chris Paul than Carmelo Anthony, and unlike Carmelo, Chris Paul actually WANTS to leave. We have to stop assuming every superstar in this league wants to leave their team to play in New York for the “market.” Melo has a great team in the Denver Nuggets that have remained loyal to him. Knicks SHOULD NOT make the same mistake as this offseason, hoping and praying for LeBron (or in next year’s case, Melo) to come.

  • lazaruz

people want to play for this team that puts it players out ther like meat?

  • bnets

In the end it will be CP, Melo & Dwight in Orlando hahah

  • vanillagorrila

Man a back court of Roy and Paul is so crazy I can barely stand it. It seems somewhat plausible too considering the ridiculous amount of talent we have available to trade.

Teddy the bear pick a f*cking team already.

  • AllenM508

wow u have crazy strategies on this site, in order for knicks to acquire paul before dec. 15, then felton can not b included, and if hornets r trading chris paul, then posey or okafor will b included in the package. knicks greatest trade asset is anthony randolph. he is 20 years old and a huge upside. If we offer a deal before dec. 15, it would have to be randolph, chandler, and curry with 2013 n 2014 first round picks for chris paul, but the hornets will most likely want to through in okafor, so for that to happen we would have to wait till december 15 to involve felton which would then make the trade felton chandler randolph curry and 2 first round picks for chris paul n okafor. i think that would b great for knicks if they can land that, but knicks wouldnt be able to chance melo next season. But we would have a strong team if hornets can hold till december 15. the acquisition of paul and okafor will make us much better and bigger! even if we dont get paul, chandler is going to be traded no matter what, why else did we draft two guards and brought back bill walker, randolph as well, he plays same as amare, the same position, two great trade assets, and felton is a solid guard that even if we get paul before dec. 15 and have both on the roster, he can b traded for a quality center after dec 15. such as haywood, ty chandler, even dalembert, since there all expiring contracts and those teams need point guards

  • joey dorseys elbow

The grizz will send mike conley, hamed hadadi, Sam young, and our next 10 draft picks. Oh, and you can have vasquez too! Hell, give us posey back.
