Sale of Golden State Warriors Nearly Complete?

The San Fransisco Chronicle has sources with slightly conflicting information about how close the deal is to being completed with Larry Ellison: “Billionaire software titan Larry Ellison is close to acquiring the Warriors from the team’s current owner, Chris Cohan, sources close to the negotiations said Tuesday night. According to those sources, Ellison, CEO of Oracle Corp., outbid 24-Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov, among others. If the current deal is completed, Ellison would control 80 percent of the franchise, and incumbent minority owners Michael Marks, Jim Davidson, John Thompson and Fred Harman would retain their stakes. Sources vary greatly on the final price tag, ranging from those who believe Ellison will pay close to his initial bid of $315 million to others who think the price tag will top the $401 million cost, the NBA record, of the Phoenix Suns in 2004. There are sources who believe the deal was completed late Tuesday night, and others who characterized the conclusion merely as ‘imminent.’”

Yes! We need Cohan out! …And there must be some epic inflation going on if they think the Warriors should sell for as much as the Suns.

I am not a fan of Larry Ellison. Years ago when I was in high school he came to my school and donated 3 computers per classroom. Those POS things never worked once. AND1 needs to go a head and buy the Warriors if Don Nelson is going to keep running this team like he is. Wild streetball style.

^Well, I’m hopeful that anyone willing to buy a majority stake in an NBA franchise now won’t be shy about spending. I’m not even asking him to go over the cap. Just hire Pritchard and fund his requests.

Since Paul Allen fired the wizard I hope he ends up with the Knicks…would be painfull to see him running the Dubs..good luck Huey, you guys just need to fire Nelson right now.

@SLB, Nelson needs to be but that a-hole will be there ’til the end of the season. I’m just hoping Curry and Lee get Lethal and we land a hot pick in the lottery.

Finally! That fool Cohen is balls. Here’s why…1: 1st move as owner trading C-Web for Tom Guggliota. 2. Trading Guggliota for Donyell Marshall. 3. Trading Tim Hardaway for Bimbo Coles. WTF? 4. Hiring Dave Twarzdik as GM. 5. Drafting Joe Smith instead of KG. 6. Drafting Todd Fuller at 11 instead of Kobe who went 13th. 7. Drafting Adonal Foyle instead of T-Mac. 8. Drafting Antawn Jamison instead of VC. Breaking up the We Believe team within 6 weeks of run by trading J-Rich… The past 16 years have been hard for us Warrior fans. But things are looking up now.
