Turkoglu To The Suns Is Official

Via press release: “The Phoenix Suns today acquired forward Hedo Turkoglu (TURK-oh-lue) from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for guard Leandro Barbosa and forward/center Dwayne Jones, the club has announced. The trade is pending the completion of physicals. ‘Hedo is a versatile player and somebody who we always thought would fit into our system,’ said Suns Head Coach Alvin Gentry. ‘He is a good ball handler who can create plays for other people and who can play three different positions.  He’ll fit well into what we’re trying to do here.’”

I read somewhere that he might play power forward, but I don’t believe it. I wonder what starter of last season will go to the bench.

  • Jess

well thats done. Now onto Jose. lol

Don’t sleep on Phoenix’s ability to revitalize cats. Just ask Grant Hill or Shaq. I think Hedo will get back in shape and play well again.

I hope he doesn’t fail that physical from all the Pizza and Sprite he’s been inhaling…

its no longer pizza… soon to be tacos.

  • Keep

Turk should be a good fit for the Suns, as long as all the nightclubs in Phoenix close on game nights.

Portland dodged one cheesy bullet with this guy. Him and Iverson are destined to play together.

  • Jake

So much for having a point guard to supplant Steve Nash…..

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

@Jake – seriously? You didn’t watch Dragic killin’ cats in the playoffs last year?

  • c_cantrell

do you know anything about the phoenix suns or are u jus one of the many who watch the highlights every other night on sportscenter and think they know everything about the nba? the suns have the perfect point guard to supplant steve nash (GORAN DRAGIC)..

  • Overtime

What do you think would have happened if the Suns had managed to get Hedo for Marion a few years ago?

Lol overtime I was about to comment that they basically got Marion 2.0 here with regards to attitude.

can’t understand, letting go of amare but willing to absorb a bad contract with hedo? They have enough three point bombers, ball handlers and enough ball movement, also warrick wont translate to even half of what amare can do! Jukai, let me know what you have been drinkin’ lately..

  • http://dsfjklfl.com Jukai

    J: Whatever’s in arms reach.
You gotta be optimistic. People were once outraged that Hedo was snubbed from the all-star games. This was THE premier point forward in the league. He was hitting game winner after game winner just a couple of years ago. This could be a GREAT pickup for the Suns if he returns to form. Which is unlikely. BUT HEY GOTTA BE OPTIMISTIC!!!!
Now if ONLY the Suns could have wrestled five-time all-star, four all-team nba selected Amare Stoudemire from New York. That guy would have been PERFECT in the Suns’ system.

^at least they made some actual moves.. unlike my Cavs.. oh well gotta be optimistic! lottery here we go!

  • Vince5

I laughed when I read the words : “good ball handler”.

“So Turk, what do you expect playing with us?” “Ball”

  • DMC14

    Go Suns.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ The Promise

@Jukai: I think your Suns are still a playoffs team and will still be competitive, if Hedo plays well. They are gonna score a ton of points. Their defense will be painful to watch though. Expect 120-115 games every night.

  • Ronald

I still don’t understand how Turk works in the Suns system. He’s never been a Run-A-Gun player. Doesn’t have that great of a mid-range game. Heck, I’m not sure which position he can play in the system.

  • andrea bargnani

    arriva derci roma

  • Ali Duyar

Don’t worry Suns fans,Hedo can play 4 different position.Even,he played center at the Eurolegue and European Championship.

  • Aaron

Phew. Bad job in acquiring Hedo, Good job in kickin him out.

  • Migs

    Ball…. *awkward silence*

  • http://bomb.com ct

Rather than get a decent center the suns vowed to half ass it agian…. Lets not wait till’ next year when players will (and they will, no lock out) will make much less.

the suns culture of suck continues. you can see the stadium from the roof of my house in phx. i am a native arizonan and hold no false hope that phx will ever win anything.

Heres who we have traded through the years

j kidd, amare, nash, rondo, marion, joe johnson, hell they even try to dump KJ.

They fluked into the western conference finals last year, they wont be back for at least five years.
