Warriors Owner Looking for a New, Younger Coach

The new boss has made it abundantly clear that Nellie’s days in The Bay are numbered. The Contra Costa Times has the details: “New co-owner Joe Lacob just did an interview on KNBR with Ralph and Tom. One of the interesting tidbits in it was about what he’s going to do with the coach. But he has a bit of a a dilemma. Lacob said what everybody else already knows: the Nellie era is done. And Lacob said in the interview that he wants a young coach in the new era (he listed Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks as an example). But the question he has to answer is when will the era end? Now? Or after this coming season? What makes the decision difficult is that he can’t make the move until he becomes owner of the team, which he said he’s hoping to be officially by late  September. (Though, he said outgoing owner Chris Cohan has obliged him since the sale agreement. If he wanted Nelson gone, couldn’t he just tell Cohan to fire Nellie and hire the guy he wanted?) If that is when he gets ownership, that’s about the start of camp and a month before the season starts. Is that too late to make a coaching change?”

No! Nellie would go wild with this roster. They wouldn’t win much but think of the small ball sets they could run. The NBA need the Golden State AND1s.

this is long overdue…shame that anthony randolph and morrow were nellie casualties before a change was made

as much as i liked nellie it is about time they got rid of him… he does belong in the hall of fame tho even tho he was a very questionable coach he did win more games than any other coach in nba history

Mike Brown would be a good pick up for this team.

Someone really needs to hire Mark Jackson. Does he not interview well or something because he’s been up for a couple of jobs be everything seems to fall thru ?

LOL. No way GS is letting Nellie F up Curry’s development. Nellie should replace Coach K as head of the national team. His small-ball should work great with their plethora of guards.

I don’t think changing coaches would make any difference. The Western Conference is still too strong and the Warriors don’t have that type of championship team to compete with everyone else. Although, I would like to see the Warriors succeed, I just don’t think it’s going to happen. :(

wangchung, how is nellie messing up curry’s development? if anything, curry’s development is a direct result of nellie’s coaching.. and mike brown for the warriors? you’ve gotta be kidding

    Marc Jackson

Coach Nellie did win the most games out of any coach in nba history. Bring in mark jackson. Cosign mike yep randolph and morrow had and still have alot of potential but it was squandered in nellies offenseive system.

Love the support for my man Mark, but I hope Dubs assistant Stephen Silas is in the picture too…

  • total scrotal implosion

Why should mark jackson get a head coaching job in the nba? He has never coached, never been an assistant coach. How does his name keep coming up? What has he done to be considered for a job? If his coaching is anything like his ‘analysis’, its weak at best. Hubie and jvg describe and explain intricacies(sp?) of the games. Mark spouts cliches. ……Good defense, better offense….hand down, man down…. Mama there goes that man. I have never heard him explain in detail why a certain play did or didnt work. His interviews are probably crap…. Hubie is great cuz he will point out something subtle and tell u why its happening and if its working.

mike brown would be a good fit. to see if he’s really THAT good or if he was just a fluke. Two year contract. ok young nucleus.

As long as Mark Jackson stops saying “Mama there goes that man”, he’s cool with me.
