Ben Wallace Re-signs With Pistons

We reported it a month ago, but now it’s official. Freep’s on the story: “Ben Wallace and the Detroit Pistons this morning agreed to a two-year contract that will pay the veteran center a little more than $1.9 million per season.Wallace said before the end of last season that he wanted to rest his body and see how he felt. As the summer went on, it was evident that president of basketball operations Joe Dumars wanted Wallace back. Wallace also wanted to stay with the team with which he has enjoyed his greatest success. He’ll also be able to help rookie big man Greg Monroe. Wallace, 35, appeared in 69 games last season, starting 67. He averaged 5.5 points, a team-high 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and a team-leading 1.2 blocks in 28.6 minutes per game. The 14-year veteran became the 17th player in NBA history to record 2,000 career blocked shots Feb. 2 at New Jersey.”
