Julian Wright Traded for Marco Belinelli

The Hornets were quite the busy team yesterday, taking part in two trades. The Times-Picayune reports on the smaller deal: “The New Orleans Hornets have sent forward Julian Wright to the Toronto Raptors for shooting guard Marco Belinelli, sources confirmed Wednesday. Belinelli, a 6-foot-5 three-year guard from Bologna, Italy, averaged 7.1 points per game last season, playing 17 minutes per game on average.”

Clearing more time for Arize id guess?

Hey, it ain’t much but what the Hornets were bringing to the table this year wasn’t going to cut it. Wright really underwhelmed me so I’m not sad to see him go. I like the shuffling the team is doing. And next year, a lot of money comes off the books. They won’t wow any top-10 players for CP3 but they can build a solid team around him if he’s interested. They’re trying, and that’s all he asked them to do.

    *smaller of the deals.
Poor structure sh*ts me, sorry to be a nark.

    Good trade for New Orleans.
Not sure how their 2/3 spots are going to play out now with Ariza being brought over. Might be a big congested unless someone else is getting moved.

Toronto is going to have the worst record in the League this year imo.
At least the Cavs still have Mo & Jamison who can score as well as scrappers in Varejao and Hickson.

he’s still isnt going to be happy.

If they can be on the same page this season I see them making the playoff. yall know that chris paul is the best in the business in what he does, and I believe that he and Ariza can create some great chemistry on the court during the season, when bounded.. Go get a decent backup point gaurd and yall see…

Maybe Julian Wright needs a change of pace. Toronto didn’t get much from Belinelli, so why not take a chance on the guy? I like this trade for Toronto; even more athleticism, and it shows that Colangelo is, despite Bosh’s defection, still working hard to find players for the future.
Raptors fans, unite! We’re needed even more this year than after Vince was traded!!

@Thor: sorry, i may be out of the loop here, but get a backup pg? did collison get traded? again apologies if i’m not in the know

  • Thor

@dsleepy- yeah man, seems like dsleepy needs to wake up….. No offence :)
The Hornets, Pacers, Rockets and Nets swooped players in a five player deal…

You know, when the Raptors first got Marco Belinelli I thought he would shoot the lights out just like how he did in Italy. Don’t know much about Julian Wright but from what I know, he didn’t make any noise on the Hornets… Hopefully he can bring something to the table. Scouting reports say he’s like a Boris Diaw. But I’m going to assume he’s more like a Jamario Moon.

If there is one player that can make me say “wow, the Hornets did great for getting Belinelli,” it would be Julian Wright. Talk about trading a disappointing player for an even bigger disappointing player.

  • total scrotal implosion

Jukai, thats pretty harsh. Juliian barely got any mins. He has a nice skillset. Well see what he can do
