Michael Jordan to Present Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen

At Pip’s HOF induction this Friday, it’ll be MJ presenting his friend and former teammate. Bulls.com reports: “Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan were side-by-side for countless memories during the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty of the 1990s, winning six world championships in eight seasons. This Friday in Springfield, Mass., they will come together once again to share what will certainly be a bright spotlight. Pippen has chosen Jordan to present him during his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. ‘I can’t think of a better person to do it,’ said Pippen on Monday. ‘Michael is someone I shared my career with, accomplishing most of what I have accomplished thus far. He was a great teammate, teacher and admirer. I’m excited to have an opportunity to be the first person that he has presented into the Hall of Fame. I figure if anyone deserves to be on the stage with me, it’s him.’”

Who else could Scottie have picked? Horace?

  • http://sdfjklf.com Jukai

    Scottie should have picked Kukoc

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Yeah, they could have had a shot clock counting the seconds before Scottie was to make his speech and then Toni could have just bogarted the podium.

  • oms23

    good choice of person

  • larrylegend

“Scottie Pippen could do everything i do, and more: he could dunk on people with his left hand” MJ once said…not difficult, who my fav bull of all time is :-)
    LOL @ E and Jukai

“if anyone deserves to be on the stage with me, it’s him.” good to see scottie’s still humble.

the French Jordan and Pippen, possible draft pick in 2 years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMndmGL_-cU

  • ClydeSays

Did Scottie LISTEN to MJ’s Hall of Fame speech?! We can only hope for another rambling, bitter rant from Jordan… “Scottie, you owe me about 50% of your NBA pay. /laughs “No, seriously. 50%. I want it…”

  • hammer

1st mj. Now pip. THE greatest tandem n nba history. Looking 4ward 2 this weekend as my favorite player of all time gets enshrined. What a player pip was. Smooth as silk. Congrats scottie.

  • Fat Lever

As long as his barber isn’t introducing him, I’m ok with whoever he picks.

  • Nick the Quick

    Wait…not Patrick Ewing?

  • fresh

Don’t hate. But I still feel pip was a bit overrated

  • underdog

I wonder who will ask Kobe to present him…

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

I get the feeling MJ will forget he’s up there to talk about Pippen instead of himself

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ niQ

    ^underdog: obviously Shaq =P

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

    @ underdog, that should be a no-brainer…..D-Fish.

  • hammer

And EVERYBODY needs 2 get off of mj’s n*utsack about his hof speech last year! Haters! Mj was just having fun w/it and ya’ll got baited n2 making it n2 something that wasn’t there 2 begin with. Ya’ll got GOT! I agree on 1 thing:mj wasn’t exactly thrilled 2 b up there. The competitive nature n him didn’t want 2 accept the fact that his playing career was officially over. But besides that, absolutely nuthin wrong bout his speech. What ya’ll need 2 do is listen 2 bone thugs ol skool track from the 97 ‘Hatin Nation’ and get over it. N the words of ice cube:D-ZAM!

  • pennydunk_1

Dennis and Laimbeer would be better

  • CF98

Eboy, the only way D-Fish could present Kobe is if he’s in the HOF as well and only another HOFer is allowed to present the player.

So if Jerry West is still alive it would probably be Kobe’s choice.

  • JD

jordan would probably do this for only Pippen …

maybe Kobe in the future perhaps?

  • http://Slamonline.com Niyasofresh

    Yes can’t wait lol!

  • http://wealwayswin.net Hersey

looking forward to this. Loved Pip

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Pip is still searching for his recognition. Dude only made the all-star team 7 times.

  • http://theurbangriot.com The Nupe

A good and a humble choice.

  • Doc72

    This should be good.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

a little off topic.. larsa pippen is one of the hottest baller’s wife ever. Lucky Pip..

  • unrel

@underdog.. kobe will probably not present anyone.. unless pau gets in.. i can’t even think of someone that’ll present shaq in the HOF..

  • kenNY

@unrel..I will personally present shaq into the HOF

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

as for shaq? kobe for sure.. or svg? the maloof’s? bosh? arenas?

  • T-Money

What if MJ gets on stage and babbles for 10 minutes about how he MADE Scotty? And he wouldn’t be kidding either. Awk-ward.

  • http://twitter.com/Chris_Barrio C Money

Ok, READY KIDS!?? Kobe and Shaq arnt going into the hall for another say….8 to 15 years respectively(depending on when each retires) so stop talking about who will introduce who when it comes to those two(2). Pippen was a great player but he was NO JORDAN. He did help knock off my Knicks on many occasions had some spectacular dunks on Ewing and other players through out his career. Shined when Jordan retired almost taking the Bulls to the finals (if they would have beat the Knicks WITHOUT JORDAN in a game 7)But even though all his accolades and rings (via Jordan) I DONT THINK PIPPEN WAS OR WILL BE TOP 50 NBA players of ALL TIME. NOT NOW and NOT THEN!

Best moment in Pippens career is his role in Midgets and Mascots! When Gary Coleman hits him with the phone.. >BONG< “OH SHIT WTF?”

MJ knows Pippen was alot better than people gave him credit for. MJ will give Pippen a better speech than he did for himself.

  • bea tezka

comman guys!!!.. gve mj’s HOF speech a break!!..
its like ur in a traumatize state and that mj being on that podium again,is sick to many huh?.. stop the hating now..

its pippens night,im sure he knows that..he will say something unexpected but i hope not mean enough to steal the spotlight,bt by picking mj and he accepted it,it says a lot…im just happy for both.

Scottie, congratulations!!!u deserve it!!.. oh crap to those saying he’s overrated.

    ill be watching 4 sure!!♥

  • Coney Islander

Pippen doesn’t get nearly enough credit for what he accomplished in his career…o wait, he’s getting inducted to the hall of fame, nevermind. lol

  • JTaylor21

@Fresh yes I will hate, how is PIP overrated. The guys is hands down the best perimeter defender of all time and one of the best all-around players of all-time. MJ would not be the lover of every reporter and basketball maniac if not for pip. He might have still sold all those shoes but he definitely wouldn’t have won 6 rings.

  • Nick the Quick

Well now that we talking about Shaq, you think Shaq will present Dwight and Darko to the HOF?

  • Brian

If I recall correctly, MJ used Pip’s retirement ceremony to talk about himself.

  • http://sdfjklf.com Jukai

Just to bring it up, Scottie Pippen’s Jersey Hanging tribute video still gives me absolute chills

  • http://www.realgm.com Gman

I liked MJs speech. It had more passion and fire than I see in the ball games today.

He will give Pip a good speech because he respected that guy.

  • mick

pip the best defender of the last 20 years

  • COGGIE13

think the only two players MJ respected on his bulls teams were Rodman and Pippen.

  • hammer

I’ve said it once I’ve said it many times. Pippen:Most DEFINITELY underrated. Doesn’t get enuff credit 4 his yrs in chi-town. Always had 2 guard the opposing teams best player. Yes mj had the heroics but most of those heroics wouldn’t have been possible w/out pip disrupting the opposing team w/non stop, ferocious defense. Remember what he did 2 mark jackson and the pacers? Or gary payton and the sonics? Penny hardaway? Tim hardaway? John stockton? Magic johnson? Remember game 6 92 finals? Bulls down 15, 4th qtr,mj taking a breather? Pip brought the bulls back from that deficit 2 win their 2nd title? Remember game 6 98 finals? Pip w/a bad back made sum key down the stretch buckets n order 2 set up mj’s game and title #6 winner? And the list goes on. Give him his dues ppl!

  • Robb

@hammer Pippen is underrated because he wasn’t a leader and, despite his unquestionable talent, he could only succeed as a sidekick. Unfair I know, but that’s the truth. Expect the same thing for Lebron if he wins a title with the Heat.

  • total scrotal implosion

    That midgets thing was bizarro

  • http://www.slamonline melvin ely

This is some bulls**t you guys are spewing. If you think that Pippen was not as valuable as MJ in the bulls just cause MJ put up the points and heroics then you are seriously deluded. If Scottie had retired in those two seasons between the threepeats instead of Mike, I submit the result in would be EXACTLY the same. Beleive it. Y’all need to watch some games people.

  • hammer

@robb. If u think about it pip didn’t really have a chance 2 prove he could lead while n his PRIME. That being said, the 1 st mj retired that was pips only opportunity 2 do so. Again, while n his prime. And look what he did. He lead the bulls 2 a 55 win season w/out a tru sidekick and 4 that matter a not so solid nba squad, while leading the team n points, steals and assists. He took the bulls 2 a game 7 n the semifinals against a tough knicks team. And if not 4 hugh hollins making a TERRIBLE call on scottie n the closing seconds of that gm 7,he very possibly could have lead the bulls back 2 the finals. The blemish that u can point out about pips leadership was the 1.8 incident. That was bad and is the reason why he could never b a head coach n the nba. Now the following year bulls lost horace grant and scott williams. So they were a very weak rebounding team. And once again pip had no tru sidekick. It was all on him 2 produce. And that’s when mj came back. So if ur gonna say pip wasn’t a leader remember that he really didn’t get that opportunity 2 do so @ his peak

  • T-Money

@ robb: that seems to be the popular theory now that bron will be pip to wade’s mj but there’s one humongous flaw with that theory: bron is better than wade… and they both know it.

  • Robb

    @hammer you’re right, I should’ve said “he wasn’t perceived as a leader” that’s why it’s unfair.

  • Robb

@T-Money we’ll find about that next season. I can’t wait.

  • Robb

  • http://sdfkjlf.com Jukai

Robb: No, you don’t need to find out next season, it’s f(*$ing obvious
