Carmelo Anthony Mum on His Future

The NY Daily News cornered Melo at the U.S. Open, but Anthony wasn’t exactly eager to discuss his future: “Carmelo Anthony made yet another appearance in the Big Apple Saturday for the U.S. Open, and then balked at an opportunity to show any loyalty to the Denver Nuggets. Walking out of Arthur Ashe Stadium soon after arriving for the women’s final, Anthony was tellingly defensive when asked if he was happy with his current team. ‘Happy as far as what?’ Anthony said, wearing shades and walking with his wife, TV personality La La Vasquez, and an entourage. ‘Why do you want to ask that? I’m in the offseason right now. My mind-set is just to enjoy fashion week, enjoy this U.S. Open and that’s it. I’m not really thinking about basketball right now.’”

“I’m not really thinking about basketball right now”. (Anthony)
He hasn’t been for a while, it seems.

Just because I can, I’m going to go ahead and blame this on LeBron James AND Chris Bosh for making other stars around the NBA realize that they can’t play basketball without a bunch of top 10 players on their roster.

What’s wrong with the guy just chillin the man still has another year in denver and it seems as though he is going to play it out so it makes no sense him bashing a team he still has to play an entire season with.Only summer 2011 will tell or if Nuggets trade melo

He’s doing the right thing by not saying much and like the LeBron situation, the media keeps making it a story. Which of course consumers then comment on. Melo will eventually sign with Denver or somebody else, or he’ll make some sort of public statement. From a reporters point of view I understand asking the questions and wanting to be the first to get the story out, but when there is no story – please just leave it alone. I’d been more interested in what Melo had to say about how he’s enjoying married life and the open and than his essential ‘no comment’ on his future in Denver.

Bet he stays with the nuggets. they got the most money to offer, decent roster, good coach, and they play better when they have a chip on their shoulders. if they start the season fast, he’ll stick around

Seeing the heart KD had in FIBA makes me pissed to hear I’m not thinking about bball… Don’t get me wrong, he should be chillin’ and reporters should be asking these questions… But Dude.. I’m a science major in school 2 weeks before school, that all I was thinking about.. It’s my career so I kinda don’t get that statement.. And as a Nuugets fan, please bruh, make a decision…like the season in a month away.. Is he even practicing or conditioning.. For the sake of your play just do something!!

Naiyum, youre dumb. Im sure hes training and whatnot, its just not on his mind, at least thats what hes saying, he was trying to enjoy some tennis, which I bet is hard. Your school analogy doesnt apply. Nuugets huh?

Carmelo seems to be angling for free agency next summer, unless the Nuggets do decide to trade him to the Knicks. IMO, Carmelo’s current stance to hold off signing Denver’s extension presently on the table, really doesn’t have a whole lot to do with LeBron decision to join Wade and Bosh in Miami. Carmelo allegedly having a desire to one day take his basketball skills to the NY Knicks isn’t like LeBron leaving the Cavs. Think about it. On one hand you have LeBron ripping the hearts’ out of Cavs fans everywhere by deciding in front of a national televised audience to head down to sunny Miami for a chance to form a super team with Bosh and Wade, while on the other hand you have Carmelo eyeing a return to his home state of New York to help restore a once proud Knicks franchise back into major contenders. Carmelo wants the big challenge on the big stage in the Big Apple. Bottom line, if Carmelo becomes a New York Knick, it’s mostly a POSITIVE story, not a negative one, objectively speaking of course. So in the end, LeBron is not to blame for Melo holding off on that extension.

Any true basketball player that isn’t thinking hoops when training camp is 2 weeks away has misguided principles.

@bakers dozen, the guy said that he wasn’t thinking about baskeball because he was at a F*CKING tennis match, damn there are a LOT of dummies on this planet.

Happy as far as what? Is what gets me. That means he’s leaving. IF I asked you in front of your girl if you were happy in the relationship and you said happy as far as what? Chick would be pissed and rightfully so. He’s leaving. The sad part is none of those teams are enough to beat the lakers, heat or celtics.

Carmelo playing by his rules… F*ck the media, their articles were already written anyway, whatever he said… Melo is the man.
