Reggie Miller on Heat: ‘This is Still Dwyane’s Team’

For Reggie, the pecking order on South Beach is clear cut. From the Herald: ”TNT’s Reggie Miller said the Heat’s star system is simple: ‘Dwyane Wade is the Derek Jeter here. LeBron James is the Alex Rodriguez. One of those guys will have to sacrifice, and it will have to be LeBron. This is still Dwyane’s team.”’

Lebron needed Wade more, he said it on the decision show, that he doesn’t want to have to worry about scoring 30 points a game. Lebron wants someone else to lean on in clutch moments. This is why Lebron was so willing to pass the ball on crucial shots. Wade would have been fine with Bosh and no Lebron. Would Lebron have been fine with a team he got back to back best record in league YES, but he was scared to keep trying to get up the HILL, So he saw his friends getting together and felt he was going to be left out, so he joined DWADES TEAM. Plain and Simple. THIS IS DWADE team, I can’t wait until Wade states THIS IS MY HOUSE and then Lebron will follow him and say THIS IS MY HOUSE TOO. LOL

Wade could have gotten Bosh and Miller without LeBron, and the Heat would still be a top four team in the East. Wade is that good. LeBron is the biggest name, but Miami is Wade’s town. They won’t be yelling LeBron’s name during the game. LeBron has yet to do anything for Miami. Wade has been their for seven seasons and he brought them their first championship. Face it, it’s still D-Wade’s house and regardless of what LeBron does, it will always be that way.

As skip bayless would say “Prince James doesn’t have the clutch gene.” D wade on the other hand is an assassin. He basically took that entire series away from Dallas. If you compare the 06 heat team’s supporting cast and last year’s cavaliers team Lebron had a significantly better supporting cast. Plus, Lebron is coming to Dwayne’s team. So it’s gonna stay that way. Anybody remember D wade torching my bulls with that running floater and saying
    “THIS IS MY HOUSE!”

  • JTaylor21

WHO ever quotes Skip F*cking Bayless needs to be exiled and sent to deserted island for life. GET LOST

  • cheers

Definitely Wades’ team, always has and always will, until he retires then it can be lebrons’ team. Sure Lebron is the better player than Wade (not by a lot), but emotionally this is the team that d wade built. Wade didn’t join Lebron, Lebron joined Wade. Im a Lakers fan, but best wishes to the Miami heats.

    WADE…

    AS THE KING…
    LEADING A TEAM…
    SINCE MIAMI WAS…
    FIRST HIS TEAM…
    THIS IS MY HOUSE!!

Jukai I’m surprised at you, Lebron absolutely leading his last team is why he’s a member of the Miami Heat as it is. To say that he’s even looking to take the leadership role is a complete contradiction of every action he’s taken this summer… Or since game 5.

I am still not sure if they talked about sacrificing and who would be the one sacrificing the most when they made this decision… But really this team doesn’t need to sacrifice..If they are going to sacrifice it should be LeBron who sacrifices but the thing with LeBron is he can do like 24,10 and 10 and he would be doing something that keeps him out of D-Wade’s shadow even though Wade would be doing 28, 7 and 7 so they would all be happy, Bosh just gets open shots all night long and hes going to get his Raptors numbers. So if you think about it nobody is sacrificing and nobody has to because LBJ will be happy averaging a triple double and making history, Wade will be putting up his 28 a game, Bosh will be getting 23 and 12 a night.

  • tavoris

did anyone actually listen to lebron after he said “I’m taking my talents to South Beach”? What after that wasn’t EXTREME image damage control? (don’t forget the interviewer is an employee of Lebron)

  • Dre

Lebron is the King but so is Wade they will join forces to dominate. Lebron is way too skilled to be second fiddle to anyone.

  • http://www.threadsandkicks.com.au Eduardo

LeBron needed a scorer and a clutch player, he got it in Wade. LeBron was a forced scorer in the Cav’s as the offense went through him every single time.

  • http://www.slamonline.com J

    this is LeBron’s team now.

  • COGGIE13

@drosefan Wade would have got bosh and miller and been a top four team. Lebron would have been in cleveland all by himself and still be the number one seed. ITS BOTH THERE TEAMS.

  • COGGIE13

    team*

  • bashmo

its time for PAT RILEY to get out of coaching retirement

But for real it doesnt really matter who’s team it is. Lebron and Wade can both share the spotlight as leader because they are both great willing leaders and are both closers.

  • flash

Dwayne’s team no doubt. dwade is Miami like KG is Minnesota or Iverson is Philadelphia

  • KING

Jtaylor21 so lebron did everything he could to win games? D-Wade had no help but still willed his team to the playoffs with pretty much no help. While lebron got to the playoffs with 4 of its starters being all stars at one point and lost to a old boston celtics team. Lebron won’t ever be compared to kobe and jordan because he doesn’t have the will to win…dwyane wade on the other hand is already in the conversation just because of his will to win

  • http://twitter.com/HarryByrdMan44 LA Huey

So 7 years into his career, LeBron has had a more successful career than Reggie had in his entire stint in the league. So why Mr Miller’s opinion relevant?

  • http://masterx1983@hotmail.com marchalmadness

wade will score the most points but Lebron will LEAD the team. Most complete player in the L.
Not the best chrunch time player though, thats Kobe off course(i hate Kobe grrrrr)
Crunch time at Miami will be Lebron driving and dishing to D-wade Bosh or maybe Eddie House!

  • http://gregoden.com roybot

why does it matter whos the better leader? Wade will listen to everything LeBron says and LeBron will listen to what Wade has to say. They will both lead the team along with Bosh too. This is one of those teams where it doesnt matter whose team it is because at least one of them will step up when its his time, like the 08 Celtics. You could say Pierce was the leader of that team but that didnt take away the fact that Rayray and KG had to lead on the court also.

Everyone seems to have missed the point here- an excuse to post the topic title ‘Reggie on Heat’

It caused me to LOL Deng. I love Reggie almost as much as Slam hates him!

  • Sizzle

This is such a non-story, who cares what these guys think of the team. You think LeBron, Wade or Bosh cares what a washed up TNT announcer thinks who the go to guy is? They will waltz their way to the NBA championship this season.

    COUNT IT

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

I’ve always thought Wade was a more skilled player, Lebron was just given more of a free reign and it inflates his stats, and of course the obvious size advantage. In a proper team, Wade will be more successful, don’t be surprised if Wade performs the best out of all of them.

  • dsleepy21

reggie is old and can’t play in the nba anymore, but please don’t call him washed up. dude was one of the greats. and no matter how good the friendship may be between wade and bron, there needs to be a distinct pecking order because the difficult times will come. my guess is, lebron can put up great numbers and get more tv coverage but this is dwyane’s team. the team will get great looks and help d from lebron, but when dwade says go, the heat go.

  • Sizzle

@dsleepy21 key word “was” one of the greats.

I love how the espn infused era has forced on everyone this huge deal of a pecking order and “his team” labeling. These guys are friends and I think they just came together because they had a chance to do something different and probably win 3 or 4 rings together. I think when it is all said and done, the beauty of this team is that there is 3 different players that are comfortable with eachother each have a final shot in a game. It is not going to be like it is in LA where all the other lakers give Kobe the ball when the game is on the line and just watch him chuck up a shot while being guarded by 3 opposing players.

  • http://sfdjklf.com Jukai

JTaylor: Lebron’s clutch as hell. Wade is clutch as hell +1
Spaceship Jay: Lebron said he doesn’t want to CARRY a team, not lead a team. It’s a lot easier to lead a team when people can do what you ask of them. Hell, it’s even fun!

  • http://dez@nba.com dez

    nobody cares what reggie thinks

  • Elvis Freshly

Why does everyone leave Bosh out like he’s the 3rd wheel.. he’s similar to the way Allen got treated.. he’s JUST as good as the other two. Don’t think so then start youtubeing
