The Kings’ New Offensive Star: Samuel Dalembert?

Sammy D seems to be under the impression that Sacramento wants him to shoot the rock. From Hoop Notes (via RDS): ‘In Philadelphia, I was asked to focus more on defense. But with the Kings, they expect me to play a more offensive role. I’ll be able to accomplish many more things with my new team,’ he said in his adopted hometown Saturday as part of the NBA’s promotional tour in Canada. Dalembert was excited to meet the new challenge after eight seasons with the 76ers, who drafted him in 2001. ‘The Kings were trying to get my services for two years and I also wanted a change,’ said the giant. ‘So it is a wish come true for both parties. I join a team that wanted me and it was also my will. Everything is for the best.’”

Well, f*ck! I was starting to think we would have a good season…but not with Sammy D thinking he is the second coming of Vlade Divac.

Deke had more offensive game than Sam could dream of.

Don’t expect assists from him. Didn’t he go like a long said amount of games w/o an assist?

  • wilz

    “…said the giant” LOL

  • Overtime

This makes me chuckle. And any mention of Dalembert makes me think of Lang’s Dirty 30, when he kept track of how little assists Dalembert made.

  • unrel

@wilz… that’s all i took from it also.. haha

This will be interesting. And once he fails, they’ll simply insert Cousins into the starting line up…

oops and tip ins..that is all he is good for..please dont shoot jumpers..we could have kept Hawes for that type of play

  • MikeC.

Dalembert is so delusional that he was asked to leave the Canadian national team. When Canada is kicking NBA players off the roster, there is something wrong with that player’s thinking machine.

Say what you want, but Sammy D. definitely beefs up that Kings’ frontline. They are looking GREAT this year with Whiteside, Sammy, Thompson, and of course DeMarcus (potential ROY), oh and of course CARL LANDRY! Damn, that’s a dangerous frontline.
Landry should start at the 4 with Cousins at the 5. Kings are still in young development mode, so they should give as much playing time to their young bigs as possible.

Dalembert may be a good pick of the team but I doubt that he will be able to lead the Kings. Sammy’s game is not that explosive neither is not that consistent in most games. But I guess I should wait till he is on court and after he has undergone the trainings.

did he say he wanted to play for sacramento?????wtf

  • Nigel

Man, I thought they had a shot at the playoffs this year… Oh well.

  • MikeC.

@nikehead23 – Good point man. I guess having a player that actually wants to be there has some value.
