Tim Thomas to Retire?

Due to his wife’s illness, Thomas has decided not to return to the Mavs after all, and may hang up his sneakers for good. The Star-Telegram reports: “Tim Thomas has decided not to return to the Mavericks because of the situation with his ailing wife. Her condition, which Thomas and his family prefers to keep private, forced the 6-10 forward to stay with her much of last season … His agent, Bob Myers, said Tuesday that Thomas would not be rejoining the Mavericks. It is believed that Thomas may be leaning toward retirement after a 13-year career.”

    Smooth operator on the court…
He was big in the 2006 Suns playoffs series win over Lakers, signed a ridiculous contract with Clips the following year and has been M.I.A. ever since. Gotta take care of fam baby. Hopefully he’s not in the same financial situation Employee #8 is in, and is dire need of money to pay off debts/biils.

this news makes me happy. he was overpaid and underachieved his entire career. fantastic.

Something tells me Tim Thomas is back in the league this coming season at some point in time when a contender is looking to add some depth for their playoff (1-12) roster. BOOK IT!

I hope dude’s fam is ok. In the meantime, I’m sure the Mavs can find another 6’10″ dude that plays like he’s 5’10″, plays softer than wet toilet paper and only shows up for a handful of games at the end of a contract year.
