Wolves Exec on ‘Future Teammates’ Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio

T-Wolves assistant GM Tony Ronzone, and long-time Team USA staff member, tells the Star Tribune that Love and Rubio shared a bond during the World Championship tourney: “Have you been able to see Ricky Rubio play much? ‘I saw him play twice in Madrid, including a (exhibition) game we played against Spain. (Defensive) pressure does not affect him. He runs the team unselfishly. He’s very humble and has a great passion for the game. Kevin got a chance to spend some time with Ricky after the game. It was great to see two future teammates together like that. Ricky knew him very well.’”

Future teammates? That will be the day……

So when will the Rube be coming over to the NBA? I’m tired of waiting on him. I bet you as soon as the Timberwolves get Rubio, Flynn is on the trade market. I feel a trade could be a blessing in disguise for Flynn. Get him to a team that likes to run run run.

rubio will come over as soon he is physically ready and his jumper improves. all other aspects of his game are nba-ready.

Kevin Love is a monster of efficiency.

With Rubio passing and Kevin Love rebounding, all the Minnesota Timberwolves will need is someone to play offense and defense… hohum…

i think dude listens to John Lennon’s “Imagine” a bit too much.

  • JTaylor21

imagine an 18 year old American kid getting drafted into the league and then going, I’ll wait and make millions of dollars for the next 3-4 years until I’m ready to play….

if Rubio does come. they would need to stop running the triangle

Rubio is going to be a beast. Running an offense anyway. Leading the league in assists is not out of the question and the way most point guards are careless with the ball he will be upper tier in steals also. The jumper can be fixed. No doubt.

Cosign Bryan. @JTaylor21 No Ricky “Martin” Rubio jokes today either?

  • Karron

might be a good look for da sorry wolves

  • http://Slamonline.com NBA kid

I don’t see why JTaylor is such a Rubio hater. Do you honestly believe that nearly every scouting expert in the world is wrong about Rubio and that he really won’t do anything in the league? That the fact that he’s won at every level of competition he’s been at means he isn’t ready for the “big leagues”? Cut out the racist ish and look at the facts.

Rubio isn’t coming to the NBA until his rights are traded to NY, Chicago or LA(or until the Wolves are contenders). He has, literally, the best of both worlds. If he doesn’t want to join the Wolves, he can just keep playing in Spain, making millions of Euros and winning championships. If the Wolves say “eff it” and trade his rights to try to get something out of their pick, he can decide to go to the NBA. This kid is in the driver’s seat of his career. Good for him.

The Toronto Euraptors should put out some feelers on Rubio’s interest in playing for them. He’s used to playing on a team full of Europeans. As long as the Euraptors let Rubio know that their team is full of crappy European players, and not the good ones he’s used to playing with.

  • Ronald

I don’t see any benefit for Rubio to go to ‘Sota. Cold, losing and a weak front office. He’s young, rich and famous in Spain. Why bother?

  • wilz

@ Groves your favourite what dude..player? thats just silly.

and @MikeC. will u take a look at the raptors roster already? get back to me

  • MikeC.

@wilz – Good point. They’re less Euro than they used to be. I forgot they traded Belinelli for Wright. I was mostly just trying to start up ‘Euraptors’ as the new way to degrade them, since I’m bored with cRaptors. You win. cRaptors it is. I’m nothing if not a traditionalist.

    WTF SEED?

Rubio has been playing pro. for Spain since he was 14 years old. So he has been in the league with grown ass men longer than any college players who only spent about 3 years before going pro in the NBA( only if they were good enough). For someone to say he’s overrated or not good enough to play in the NBA is seriously in denial. Recognize skills before u start blogging stuff u don’t know. Rubio will be an impact player before he even hit the big stage. B. Jennings only spent a year in Europe and look how developed he already is!!!
