Iverson’s Manager: Turkey Talks ‘Very Serious’

The Allen Iverson Saga really could be making its way to Turkey, after all. According to A.I.’s manager, Gary Moore, Iverson is very serious about signing on to play with the Turkish squad Besiktas Cola Turka.

Iverson isn’t expected to make a decision until week’s end, and Moore says that negotiations with a team in China aren’t dead either. For the time being, however, the $2 million (plus potential bonuses) offer is making Turkey sound mighty intriguing to the Iverson camp.

Yahoo! and the AP report:

Gary Moore, Iverson’s personal manager, said Monday night there are “serious talks” for Iverson to play with a Turkish team. Iverson, the 2001 NBA MVP, is negotiating with Besiktas Cola Turka for at least a one-year deal. “This team seems very interested in having him come play,” Moore said by phone. “Allen absolutely wants to play basketball. He has no hesitation going there if that’s the best opportunity for him.”

“We are in very serious negotiations with [Besiktas],” Gary Moore said. “Istanbul is beautiful from everything we’ve learned. It’s not that far from the U.S., and the competition is good which makes it all attractive. Allen wants to play basketball.”

Neither Allen Iverson or his agent Leon Rose have commented on negotiations with the Turkish team.

The Answer in Istanbul. Sounds like a highly-watchable reality television show, no?

    Okay, never violated rules….. baiting people to flame (Iverson), encouraging people to leave website (video game), using alternate IDs (you have like, ten of them), and spamming (you post 3000 posts in a row saying the same thing).
    But yeah, totally justified with everything you do.
    Sorry, I think the big problem here is that no one makes sure that the rules are followed.

    I do think he was wronged.
    I think most people hear have broken the rules at some point, but some people are repeat violators.

Don’t hide behind some other person’s action (which didn’t actually reveal ANYTHING about your personal info – I can get that accidentally at random just going to post on SLAM – you know how sometimes the info gets jumbled?) in order to deflect the attention away from the fact that you are a full-blown gaper.

    Also, there is a time and place for everything, and a learned individual, such as you seem to be, surely understands that.
    Why would I come up here and copy other people’s style? Some people come up here saying things that many of us already know just to sound like they are “in the know”. That is not my style.

    LOL. Like I said, dude, it wasn’t meant as an attack — the last thing I care about is starting an e-beef with you. I was just pointing out to you that maybe you shouldn’t have such blind faith in greek dude being a pro, especially when myself and others have pointed out things you didn’t know, such as his using multiple aliases. And as me being “pissed that the greek dude shouted you out” — well, I think I’ll just laugh that one off. Shout outs from a troll are worthless to me.

    I understand why SLAM has stuck with Iverson over the years (he’s essentially a glorified ‘street baller’ that made it to the big time. We all know how they’re obsessed with being ‘street’). But at this point you can’t possibly justify his actions. At each and every stop (including a dream scenario for him to make a homecoming to his old team) he was a locker room cancer. I don’t blame GMs for not offering him a contract. What sane, logical person would?

    Also, Gil will be the new A.I. as soon as his ridiculous contract expires.

    Just go to China and play 1 on 1 with Starbury! That would make some noise around the world. No one cares about Turkey. The only thing I know about Turkey is Hedo Turkoglu, Istanbul stadium (where Liverpool beat Milan in the great Cup final ever!) and kebabs. Go to China, they’ll worship you, buy your shoes, buy your headband and your team-mates will stand on the baseline in a 1-4 iso and let you and Marbury do your thang!
