More Than a Year Later, Garnett’s Looking Healthy

He’s still not “Da Kid” anymore, but he’s looking better than he did during the 2009-10 NBA season. The Boston Globe has more: “The rejuvenation of Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has been apparent since the beginning of training camp. He leaps with ease. He sprints down the floor and soars for rebounds with no fear about his surgically repaired right knee. The one thing missing was a breakout game in the exhibition season. Garnett had yet to wow fans with a vintage performance. But that changed Saturday night, when he had 20 points in 20 minutes during the Celtics’ 97-84 victory over the Knicks in Hartford… One of the more important priorities for the Celtics in camp was to rebuild the confidence and increase the production of Garnett, who was healthy last season but still was favoring the knee. ‘I slowed down a little bit, started to look for my offense,’ he said. ‘Playing with Shaq [Shaquille O’Neal] is an adjustment, but it’s a good adjustment to have. But for the most part I’ve slowed down and let my offense just flow.’”

    It is a start.

Everything slows down around Shaq Lol.

If he can make it to the post-season with this sort of health Bosh is going to be destroyed in a seven game series.

Save your your energy KG so when the real games roll around you can use the element of surprise!!!!

  • MikeC.

Good to hear. A healthy KG is one of the most fun players in the league to watch.

  • ClydeSays

Good to have KG all the way back, not an imagined ’100%’. Any athlete having knee surgery take note. Recovery is going to be a full year or more, not 6 months.

If clyde is correct, lal fans will be sad

omphalos destroy who? CB1 is not 08 Gasol and he has more than held his own vs KG in the past.

  • vtrobot

anything’s possible. @ JTaylor: CB1 trying to make shaq eat that rupaul comment is one of the many, many storylines that should make 10/26 great. i would agree that CB1 > ’08 Pau. I don’t know about ’09 Pau tho.

Pau is a muuuuuuch better player then Bosh, probably the best PF in the L atm. I think KG will take bosh to school this season if he stays healthy.

  • Heals

I will be convinced when he and Rondo connect on those alley-oops like they were 2-3 times a game until the Utah game…

We’ll see JTaylor21… when players get hurt people forget how motivated they are when they get back, and KG has a whole lot of frustration built up. If he can stay healthy… watch out.

The Heat will have serious trouble with the Celtics and anyone else with good big men. It will be good to see KG back to where he’s supposed to be. A healthy KG spells trouble for any team not named the Lakers.

  • rich

bosh can simply outscore any big while holding his own in 1 on 1 defense, but no1 really has good centers so they only gotta worry about a handfull of teams, center is the worst played position in theL, so bad the heat think they can win with joel anthony startin(rep Canada)

Some people need to stop watching old games from the 70′s on YouTube and realize that there is a difference between padding stats like Bosh does and playing well.
KG re-injured his knee in the 1st minute or so of Game 1 of the ECF and struggled mightily after that.
