T-Mac Unlikely to Play Again this Preseason

We know the Pistons are trying to keep McGrady healthy for the season, but this is an ominous sign. From the Detroit Free-Press: “Pistons coach John Kuester announced Tuesday that the free-agent acquisition will miss his third straight preseason game tonight, when the Pistons face Dallas in their annual trek westward to Grand Rapids. The team feels no rush to get McGrady on the floor before the season opener Oct. 27 at New Jersey. The Pistons are being extra careful with McGrady, 31, who is a year and a half removed from microfracture surgery on his left knee. McGrady took part in all drills the first week of training camp, but when his movements became less sharp, it was decided he would be better off getting his body ready for the regular season.”

Very sad. How do your movements become less sharp during training camp drills? AT 31!?!?! Grant Hill is 64 and his movements are sharp during games. Did you see how sharply he was moving when he slapped that one man’s ass repeatedly a few games back (what was that about by the way? lol)

Is this caution or a sign? If he isn’t healthy after a year and a half, is he even trying to be ready? Surgery is one thing, rehab and strengthing is something else.

  • T-Money

Isn’t he training with Grover?! Sheesh.

  • Addam

Just a matter of time before someone on here says, ‘yeah but if this means he can return to the T-Mac of old then its worth it’.

Yeah, but if this means he can return to the T-Mac of old then it’s worth it.

If he can start to contribute in December, I’m cool with that. Let Austin Daye get some burn because he’s playing really well right now. If more injuries happen, T-Mac is some nice insurance. If the young guys play well, T-Mac is a cheap cheer leader from the bench.

yeah but if this means he can return to the T-Mac of old then its worth it!

The fact of the matter is that the human body is not made for the rigors of professional athletics. Most pro athletes are able to trick their bodies into thinking it is. But T-Macs ain’t falling for it anymore.

They should just cut and paste T-Mac headlines. They always go the same way: 1) Before Season – “T-Mac: I’m Ready for Revenge on the Haters”, 2)Early Season: “T-Mac Being Held out Due to Soreness”, 3) Mid-Season: “T-Mac Out for Rest of Season”, 4) Late Season: “T-Mac: It’s All My Fault”.

Nothing wrong with having him rest during pre-season… Ya’ll gots to chill. That being said, good luck to T-Mac.

  • Fat Lever

T-Mac added, “D@mn, it feels good to make it out of the pre-season un-injured. Wait…”
